the Goings On of a Palindrome

Updated: 2018-03-17T05:35:11.387-07:00

A long time coming...

It has been a long while since I've written anything on this little space of freedom. It has been a lazy two years - I think.

For anyone who has been listening to my little rants, thoughts and soliloquies, thank you for making the blog meet its purpose. Yet again, I will try to do the best I can to log some stuff on here which I think matters - at least, for the time that I've written them.

Thanks for sticking with me or for having stuck before and given up for the lack of anything new on here! :)

Let's do this.

A narration.

I made this when I was still at school attending my degree about something with a major about whachamacallit. I found it in the 'tambakan'; place where stuff of yore are kept for its cherished value but is in time turned into decaying useless eccentricity. It was moldering over with dust, cobwebs and termite saliva. It would have been driven out of the place and into trash bins and off for the burning. Talk about preempted arson. Anyway, I managed to get a hold of it before it could meet its inevitable fate.Fable In our mere existence in this world, much have changed in us. Early in our wonder years, the time when we usually believe in the Bogeyman and the Sandman, there lived in us a world full of make believe. A world where we let our imaginations run free and where we can just simply be a child. It is a world of gallant characters woven up by our mere childish minds. A world that I'm sure that I'll never forget having met Mickey and his many varied friends across the gamut of animated fantasies there. Out of nothing but suddenly, change entered. All that I believed in burst like a huge bubble. All those that I've relied on suffered by the circumstance of my age. It pained me most knowing that I could only do so much but hope and wait in vain. These were the frustrations I took with me as I saw the world in a whole new perspective. A world of responsibility and commitment. A world I still don't understand. However, luckily, one true thing stayed with me. One thing that never slipped away through time; One thing that didn't ebb away into the waves of unrealized memories, chasms of aspirations, and lost into the doldrums of nothingness. One thing that, hitherto, I still hold in my hands. The moment I became a moth. Once upon a dream, there was a moth but this particular moth was unlike any other. He was different for one sure thing: He was the first, perhaps the only, of his kind to actually be amazed by the luminous pulchritude of the celestial beings of night, the stars, instead of settling for the imitative grace of the street lamps. Driven by his passion to reach the stars he said to his friend, "A time will come when I'll be hovering amongst those beauties. In one way or another, I will reach them on that most beautiful night." "That time will never come. Those stars are too far and too high. There's no way that you could get there. You'd only end up trying.", his friend replied in snide. "Who knows? But the sure thing is, I will make it. I know I can. It's not entirely impossible albeit no one has dared.", he replied with determination in his tone. "I'll be starting right now. I'll go early so by nighttime, I'm already there. When I come back, you can sulk at the corner while everyone beholds my awesomeness", he added jocularly. "Yeah, whatever! When you've returned, I'll be just by the street lamps with the lot. Will be catching that bright fussy little thing inside and you'll be so sorry you didn't see it. I'm tellin' you no one'll be hoggin' that thing other than me", his friend replied jeeringly. And so, the little moth went off. He flapped his wings unceasingly and got his vision fixed onto his goal. Every second, the sky was getting dimmer and dimmer and every moment, the stars' astounding magnitude more evident. "There they are!"he exclaimed with wild excitement as the stars have finally become crystal clear. At that very moment, he started to flap his wings more enthusiastically and more rapidly. But, things were going nowhere. No matter how fast he goes, he can see that he's not getting any closer than he is far away from where he used to be. By every moment, he grew tired yet still unwavering in faith. Days passed by and the moth was getting older and older. Yet, still he persevered to reach the stars. He was getting really tired; his wings were already protesting him but he went on. No sooner his body gave up. All that he had was gone. He could sense that he was falling and falling and falling. Hurtling towards gravity, towards [...]

It's the truth.

I still feel the same way for you. I always have. I probably don't seem like it but I think I am happy for whatever you are having right now. The only pain that I can't seem to overlook in this one is that I can never say the things that I want. That's already unnecessary anyway. I hope he makes you feel everything you ever wanted to be taken as. I hope he never disappoints. I hope he looks at you in the same way you look at him. I hope...I hope you could see me being happy for you as much as I hope I could see me that way too.

You are still as beautiful as I remember you to be. I thought you'd like to know that.

Personal: Trying to jettison and save my sinking ship.

So it finally dawned on me. Some things are best forgotten and buried to the depths of your life's worst regrets. Things just don't go your way. It's not just your world. You don't own it. You just thrive in it. You live to live the days that you've borrowed. The truth is everyone lives in this world to satisfy themselves. We are like our hands. We point, we lure, we caress, we touch, we grope and for the most part, we push and pull. Symbolic.

She was everything I ever wanted. She was so close but I had to push and break it apart. Tear it. Mangle it. Hoping that it could somehow lead us to the understanding that we do need each other. I don't wanna be in the friendzone all my life. But was that the point of it really? Unfortunately, things just got logically melded that she ended up pushing and breaking me apart without even knowing it. Ironic. She made me get into hard and lyrical alternative rock. I ain't looking at you Alanis so shut up.

You have no idea how much it strangles me. It consumes me even with me denying to the expanse of my entire restraint. My leniency has turned me embittered. You are happy. You look so beautiful. You were like Christmas morning and I was a kid hoping for a gift that someone already got. But I am still hoping. I don't care what people think. They think I'm stupid. They even speculated. Well, I'm not dumb and they are stupid. They are daft, gormless, deliberately noncomprehending and perceptively unintelligent. They are goats.

If you ever come across this sanctum of mine, do not be wary of me - please. I would like to make it clear that I am no lowlife who follows you around and schemes of hurting you to get your attention. Stalking is not my stuff and don't you ever trust Facebook. I do still pray for and of you. I'm still hoping which is the only thing I ever could do. No one ever made me want to run and hide then cry my eyes out like you did. You were all I ever wanted. You made me want to love and seek to be loved. Sheesh. That was sappy and corny but I've always liked sappy and corny - privily.

Seriously, I passionately abhor you. Why? Because you make me crazy. You made me want to catch you all the time but I can't cause you won't. At least, for me; at least, for now.

I'm pretty sure that I sound like someone who just got straitjacketed. Confusing and contradicting. But, however this turns out and comes over to you, one thing remains true; I l*&# you. At least, for me; at least, for now.

**Pardon. Just letting it all hang out.

Information: SEO tips to ponder on.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to go up the coveted page one on Google's search page results?

It's Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO is a standard mechanism that enables spiders to quickly grasp the content of a website and display them to users whose inquiries matches that of the site's contents. It is an adequate avenue by which your profile, business and your products could earn its much anticipated recognition and revenue.

The simplest way to achieving SEO is placing simple and relevant keywords on to your site. It is vital to have your site the important terms that your services pertain to. Should you be selling amazing affordable gadgets then try buying the domain After all, search engines simply adore keyword-rich domain names that ultimately match the users' query.

Another SEO tactic is putting keywords in the title of your page. The title is considered as the most important part of your page by the search engine. A thought to ponder though; try not to cram too much in it since it might dilute the effect about it.

Lastly, put your keywords on the top half of your page. Try to sprinkle out the word or some variations of it onto your writings perhaps by having five keywords in a series of 100 words. Still, try not to overdo it.

Simply try out the steps in SEO then you might just have your site spring up to the top of the Google search results from absolute oblivion.

Goings On 8: The Morning Stress

Today, like any other day, I woke up to Barry Manilow's vocal stylings. My pops is a huge music buff and I guess he's pretty into whatever the veteran Manilow churns out. Sometimes, it comes to my mind that if Manilow were to pop out of nowhere at that moment, he'd be one of those babbling fans who worship the almost senile fancy pants. So, I continued commiserating for myself for what seemed like forever, which can be translated to until the cd runs out of tracks and then he slides in a new one, when a song came up that couldn't sum up what I was thinking at the moment any better. Manilow crooned out, "You've lost that lovin' feeling...whoa..that lovin' it's gone gone gone...oh oh oh." I said to myself, "As much as I like songs from the past more than today's, I sure have Barry. Now, shut the hell up!"

Entertainment: Death Note goes Pop!

I was traversing through videos of Sandara Park on Youtube awhile ago when I arrived at this one. At first glance, I was stunned with the video's concept. The apples. The bleached hair. The awkwardness. The blank empty stares and eyeliner (L?). Whoa! Its got Death Note written all over it! Who could blame him though? Death Note was a smart and ingenious manga with all the right twists at the corner. A signature stroke of genius from the mangaka.

Anyway, the track is by a certain G-dragon. According to my research, he's part of a famous(?) korean boyband called Big Bang which I can entirely recall made an endorsement film with Sandara Park not so long ago. The music is somewhat reminiscent of Flo-Rida's smash hit ,"Right Round" and Britney Spears' comeback vehicle "Womanizer"--it just came to mind immediately after hearing the beats. I hope he didn't plagiarize any of the ones mentioned.

As for the video, the artist looks weird. He looked like a typical gender-bending manga character. He seemed like a cross between a woman and a boy. It just doesn't sit right with me. Other than that, their production sets are really first-class. I've never seen those things on Pinoy music videos. It seems we know nothing but the concept of being sweet on picnic scenes, rockin' a live performance in front of a paid hord of "fans", joyrides, solo half-naked shots in a front of a black backdrop and cuts of women being sung to by the singer flashing throughout. The only pinoy video that was pretty pleasing to the eye was Sandwich's "Sugod". It wasn't much but it worked. We can't blame our entertainment industry though, for in this country, it is not that much of a lucrative space to bank on. Then again, South Korea's first world while we could hardly instate ours as a NIC.

I must say though; Korea is fast becoming an entertainment capital of Asia or so I've read somewhere. (Let it be Philippines! Let it be Philippines! Come on, Bro! Hehe)

Information: Google spreads some love for Ørsted

Google does it again. Its face has again altered form and is shaped into an emblem of one of the best discoveries in Science. You wonder what those wriggly wires attached to a voltaic cell and wrapped around a nail, and a compass is doing other than trying to figure "Google" out, right? (I must say the "Goodle" is pretty cool. Get it? Google and doodle? Hehe.)

The picture is but another attempt of Google to commemorate one important event or persona. This time the image drawn recognizes the greatness of Hans Christian Ørsted. Ørsted is the man responsible for concocting the notion of electromagnetism. What's the illustration's significance to Ørsted's discovery you say? It is but the apparatus that gave him evidence that indeed electricity and magnetism are relatively not strangers to each other. (What are the dynamics of the claim? I dunno. Google it!)

One more thing though. Notice what kind of metal wire is animated by the picture. If you guessed aluminum, then you're right. (If you answered otherwise, you're not alone. I always thought it was copper.) Ørsted is also attributed with the founding or discovery of the element Aluminum.

Anyways, Happy Birthday Mr. Ørsted!

Information: Google perceives Perseids

Google has been known to dress up for the occasion. Many times they've donned their logo with the most startling yet up-to-date images that pertains to any possible on-goings with whatever culture, tradition and season.

Right now, Google is using a picture of a neighborhood at night with a rather picturesque vision of the night sky with streaks of light all around. Now, what could that possibly pertain to?

This is a hint of a phenomenon occurring annually which is called the "Perseids". The Perseids is a widespread meteor shower that is attributed to Earth's exposure to the particles and rocks brought about by the passing of the Swift-Tuttle Comet near our atmosphere. It came to be known as such because the streaks seem to issue from the constellation of Perseus. The meteor shower occurs at around mid-July to late August per year. This year, the peak of this occurence or the time as to when it is most evident is August 12 -- tonight! So go out and bring up your blankets for some outstanding sights to behold. (Unless, it doesn't rain, of course.)

Information: Manila Bulletin enunciates President Arroyo's Coffin with "Utmost Care".

This was the the centerpiece yesterday of the Manila Bulletin. I thought I was hallucinating but, apparently, I wasn't nor those who actually saw the paper in circulation.

On August 6, 2009, the Manila Bulletin featured a spread regarding the momentous ceremony of the passing of the former President Corazon Aquino. However, that didn't seem to be the case upon scrutinizing the photo that accompanied the article.

Below the photo, the caption articulated "WITH UTMOST CARE. Military honor guard carefully moves the coffin of President Arroyo out of the Manila Cathedral." Now, who would have thought that President Gloria Arroyo actually went out of her way to witness an interment for a few minutes only to find out it was supposed to be hers?(The coffin seemed too spacious as well.)

I guess it wasn't only Ted Failon who continued to insist (a loud wistful thinking?) that it was President Arroyo who were to be found and buried within the coffin during the ABS-CBN coverage of Pres. Aquino's wake.

Goings On 7: The Preacher

It was English class. Our instructor was trying to delve into the basics of a narrative. I don't know what it is but I never really found the man helping or contributory to your knowledge. I ain't trying to sound much like a smart ass but it's like one of those things that is brought up since high school. So he goes on ranting about in a way that could make anyone think that he was so caught up with himself. Self-indulgence is excusable only if you're not "indulging" in front of your class for the most obvious reason of proclaiming oneself as an "expert". Anyway, so he talks about making your ideas come across your audience easily by being understanding of their capability (more like insulting). He goes on enumerating techniques in establishing easy understanding towards your readers. Later on, I felt a ringing in my ear. He said, "Please avoid using highfalutin terms in your work." I looked around. People were scratching their heads. It's much the same as saying eschew words that are intimidating and obscure like "eschew". I thought he was a good comedian. I started to like him since then.

Practice what you preach, man!

Entertainment: MYMP is MTMP (Making Their Momma Proud)!!

MYMP is getting love from Koreans! I find it really cool since most people I know find anything imported more appreciable especially the makes of the likes of the slant-eyed, pale-complexioned, unusually-styled (which is usual for them), I must admit, cool people. Globalization and Colonialism's manifestation at its best--I guess.

Cyworld, much like Friendster and Facebook in principle and purpose, is the most used friend-finding site in South Korea. It has even boasted of having 20 million unique visits everyday from their registrants. A number which probably comprises a significant fraction of the South Korean population. In this domain, you can practically enjoin yourself to customizing your profile (minihompy for "their" understanding) with unique appearances, bulletin boards, photos and background music. Music. The area where they find our very own MYMP to be cool as well.

Cyworld normally holds a monthly awarding ceremony for the artists that have done exceptionally well on their online society. (Mind you, song placement on profiles aren't free. You pay for it!) In the recent top list of most favored (paid) music to appear on personal playlists in Cyworld, MYMP peaked at the third spot on July 6 and continued to sail through July 20 treading the chart at ninth place on the Cyworld real-time sales chart. MYMP was able to stand the continuous singles' release of native artists while also warding off potential foreign competitors earning them the International Artist of the Month Award. This implies that they are numero uno among non-Korean artists. Their song "Say You Love Me" must have triggered some chemicals spazzin' around our oriental counterparts' hypothalamus to produce some lovin' for the OPM duo. Below is the July 6, 2009 Cyworld Real-time sales chart. Click for better size and resolution.

I guess our fostering of ESL schools for foreign scholars has its own relative fruition as well.

Good job Juris and Chin!

Information: Farewell Pres. Aquino (1933-2009)

Early today, August 1, 2009, a saddening news broke out. At around 3:18 am, former President Corazon "Cory" Cojuangco-Aquino has finally passed away at 76.Mrs. Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino is more popularly known as the first female president of the Republic of the Philippines. She was the better half of Senator Benigno Aquino Jr who led the opposition's stand against the Marcos administration. Her rise to presidency was pretty overwhelming as it was inducted by the people through the inspirationally uniting "EDSA People Power" that was commenced by the demise of her husband that was attributed to the order of the ruling administration at that time. It was so uplifting that it was also able to inspire some communist countries to adopt the idea that a country is indeed for the people, by the people and of the people. At times of great peril, she was able to provide hope and liberation from the dictatorship that was issued by the then President Ferdinand Marcos through Martial Law that also provided the latter an indefinite term extension. She campaigned endlessly to gain the support of the people in her stand to dissolve the coutry's status quo of oppression and hate.I don't really have much to say regarding Pres. Aquino during her days of rule. I was a newly gestated individual who was oblivious of the world's ongoings at the time but to have been granted the respect and admiration of her countrymen, one could tell she really is something else. Even after her rule, she was seen as someone borne of strength and grace all at once. She was a headstrong and strong-willed woman in an obnoxious man's world of politics. In 2008, she was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer and has then been undergoing chemotherapy. Nevertheless, she remained hopeful and fixed on helping the people through different activities and campaigns. She even detested President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's rigging of the previous presidential election eventhough she once supported Arroyo during President Joseph Ejercito Estrada's impeachment. Unfortunately, perhaps due to old age, her body gave in and could no longer keep up with the medical process. When former President Fidel Ramos said, "she is the best representation of what the Filipino people stand for." I thought I could not have agreed more. No other president will probably gain what respect and love she has had from her people. I guess that's because out of everyone once on that rank only she had faith above all.Goodbye and thank you, President Cory Aquino.image source[...]

Information: MicroHoo?!..Microsoft goes Yahoo!

Microsoft Inc., the Washington-based corporation founded by no less than Mr. Bill Gates, is itching to get it on the search marketing arena with Google who nonchalantly claims "search and query"as its own turf. While occupying a massive slice of the web pie (suck on 65%!), Google has clearly monopolized the web advertising market.

In its own effort to get a bite on that massive cash cow, Microsoft entered into an agreement with Yahoo! (which gave them the moniker MicroHoo), while riding on the hopes of gaining much more than it could ever imagine. Bing, Microsoft's own online search engine is centered on leveling it out with Google while also tethering Yahoo!-made web sites on its running heels.

This recent development is no surprise to anyone at all. Internet advertising is one of the thriving infrastructures in the advertising industry. It is said to still evolve at an impressive rate every year despite the global market crisis at hand. Besides, Google has also been slowly renouncing the latter's hold on its own space. With the production of Chrome OS, Microsoft could only parry it by resolving to take it against their rival's more ostentatious strength as well. In fact, this facet is deemed so significant by Microsoft that it has decided to place 10% of its operating income on Bing!

As much as the coalition is a huge thing for internet magnates that are MicroHoo, I don't think customer preference will change one bit for some time. While this may help out advertisers on staking at a competition against a monopoly, it is still yet too early to see as to how it will fair against the Goliath that is Google. After all, normal people, in desperate and obfuscated times, would not have coined the quote, "Google it!". Ayt!?!

Information: Do your own Online Window Shopping at ShopWiki

There are a thousand ways than one to look for stuff you want without any hassles on the net. Somehow most of these ways are no more than just simple search engines that are catered for the benefit of one service provider; not for the advantage of those who are would-be customers. Today I, as a customer, found a very cool site that has given me that certain advantage that I've been looking for. It has provided me endless variants of the things that I want across different online stores. Not only that, it also offered different considerations when it comes to choosing stuff I want and need. Talk about getting more than what you actually asked for. This online multi-store catalogue is none other than ShopWiki.

In ShopWiki, you get to see "every product from every store" and not just products that are available to a certain store. If you come to think of it, ShopWiki works much the same way as any search engine. You can simply type it in, click on search and voila!, options after options of your inquiry is zoomed up on your screen. It's pretty much better than just limiting your options to what a certain online store has to offer. For anyone who might resolve into purchasing online, it means getting everything for sale on the net plus a little bit more. May it be backpacks for camp-outs, outdoor essentials, funky and cool canvas sneakers, bike shoes, hiking boots, shoes in general or simply anything-under-the-sun. Just take your pick! It's that neat!
As for me, I have found a pretty cool pair of running shoes with Nike + iPod features. Now all I have to look up for is how to get my pops into getting me those cool trainers. You wanna see it for yourself? Click here.

Goings-On 6: The Custom

(image) The other day I was tasked by my mother to grill some barbecue. I followed suit and grabbed my iPod while doing so. I was in the process of charring up some coal while banging along to Sean Kingston's loud warbling-with-style when I noticed my next-door cousin walked right out of their house. I always thought that it was rather rude to just ignore someone you know who's right in front of you, more so, if they're family. So I asked him where he's up to and he replied back curtly. I didn't get what he said. Sean sounded better than him. I thought he could never be a sing-ger.

Entertainment: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Movie Review

I seldom do this kind of stuff but I guess I'll try churning out what critic I have in me. After all, this has been the only movie I have seen so far these past few days. The much talked about and big time hype-machine that is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince have become such a huge hit. Has it never been? Well, at least, according to box-office tolls. But has it barely even scraped what magic the book has made?It was disastrous but cute. Not the kind that belittles whatever sense the word "disaster" invokes but the most meaningful definition of what it transpires. It's not as if it was an epic fail since it had its good points that outweighs the bad but for those non-members of the built-in audience that the books have created, it was barely comprehensible. The scene switching was okay most of the time but it somehow got out of place at certain points that my brother kept on asking "unsa to kya?" (What just happened?). Not that I'm trying to stress the movie's bad point by the reactions of an eight year-old but isn't that the point of the whole movie? To make people fully understand how the story unravels and what it's all about in spite of the audience's age and understanding?Anyway, one thing I was really cool about was how the special effects were made. It didn't come across as "cartoony" and over the top like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Mind you, I would have no second thoughts in choosing it have I not been such an HP buff). Somehow, the dark setting that enveloped the movie was able to contribute to the believability of it all. But don't take my word for it though for I am less than erudite and am a delusional fool. Hehe.Another stuff that I admired about the movie was the casualness of how it depicted the romances of the leads. It wasn't corny or overly melodramatic (ironic?) for instead, they made it normal and digestible. Though I've heard people animating the famous Greenwhich Pizza ad tagline, "Wow, ang Cheesy!" every now and then, but it was understandable. Some stuff I found interesting:1. Harry using Felix Felicis scene. It was the best sequence the movie had.2. Lavender Brown. She was annoying and funny most of the time which could only mean that she did good.3. Quidditch Match. I never knew Quidditch was so kick-ass til this movie. It was like watching a real rugby match. Definitely, it was cool and exciting.4. The Weasly's house on fire. A foreshadowing that Bill and Fleur's wedding would be ditched for the next two movies?5. Aragog. He seemed smaller than when I last saw him on Chamber of Secrets.6. The Deatheaters at Hogwarts. A major factor of the letdown. I expected it to be jam-packed with action sequences but it turned out boring and rushed. Or was I thinking about Deathly Hallows at that time?7. Harry got his nose broken. I've been wanting to do that to Radcliffe for the longest time.8. Hermione. She showed some boobs! Well, was just a glimpse of a shallow cleavage but she sure is fine.9. Draco. He did much better than Radcliffe.10. Ginny. Do girls tie untangled shoelaces of boys they like? Anyway, she was pretty as well but Hermione's better.11. Dumbledore's death. The book did better. But I guess it would be too much to have since it's just about someone who's dead plus the amount of screen time it would get. I must agree, too much.Overall, the movie was the best so far out there that the franchise was able to get. It was indeed dark, intense, hilarious and mysterious. Sometimes, too mysterious at times that some people gave up on it before they could fully understand it. Lest it was just me, prolly it was forgiv[...]

Journal Entry: A Place for Us

It was pretty much a good day yesterday for a family outing. The weather wasn't overly sunny and hot, the air was balmy and cool, and it was my father's birthday. Yep, another year to fill with really cool memories with your family was in store for him. So to begin the year with full of faith and blessings, my family went to the Divine Mercy Hills at El Salvador City. The place was solemn, neat and in all aspects, holy. Everything about the place was conducive to an individual's self-meditation, reflection and personal assessment.

Our first stop at the place was the parking lot. Hehe. Kidding aside, it was actually the little chapel where most of the visitors would directly move to when there was no mass at the place's church. It's a place where you can pray and ask for the Lord's blessings in your life while also reflecting on your own doings and mishaps. It is a good avenue to renew your faith, re-energize your outlook in life and restore your inner peace.

After visiting the chapel, my siblings and I went to the most scenic spot of the place. The humongous altar featuring a lavish floral garden with the larger-than-life effigy of Christ. As you can see in the image above, it is really beautiful especially when it's set against an eternal backdrop of the cool ocean and the provincial feel of the hills that you can't actually see in the photo. (Hehe) It was, as most people say, uplifting in a sense.

Lastly, having finished the much-needed pictorial, we went to go and get some water from the place. The water from the place was said to be cleansing and blessed. We drank some of it and also brought a gallon or two from the fountain.

The place was indeed really effective for any person who's been stressed or dragged down by the urban lifestyle, or the lack of it. It can help you believe that somehow there are places in this world untarnished and untouched by the influences of the malicious and the malefic yet unhidden and accessible to those who want to reach out to their Creator.

A word of caution; pants are accepted, shorts are discouraged and skirts are the preferred.

Goings-On 5: The Sleeper

I had a class regarding "ergonomics" in a very early morning. Our classmates were made to report regarding some kind of technologies in the IT field. They used a projector so it was only natural to dim the lights. Due to the huge resemblance of the atmosphere to Nox, I became drowsy. I tried to hide what I was about to do by bowing down my head and covering my visage by artificially rubbing my temple while leaning on my right arm. I went unnoticed. That was until I also didn't notice that the report was already done. What I also didn't know was that our professor noticed all those who became too comfortable for their own good. She humorously berated those people including me. At the moment she acknowledged my inclusion, I unknowingly struck her with a killer stare. She noticed. After class, she called me up and told me to help her bring some of her stuff. When we were out of earshot, she asked if she did irate me. I lied. She apologized. I felt better.

P.S. She was actually nice to me. I do feel somewhat bad about it.

How can any person live to tell that he has gone from the depths of desperation and pull himself into redemption?

Is there nothing left out there that will share and protect the rights of any individual to live and actually feel alive?

Can any of us really evade the grasp of poverty and frustration before we can say that we have succeeded in this life?

Alberto Mayor. That's the story.

He is an overseas Filipino worker who was once a proud seaman and enjoyed a customary life in Saudi Arabia. Since then, he decided to try out his luck in living the American dream. He became a caregiver and and lived within the suburbs of the Bay Area in the US.

When the economic recession slated its toll on the world, many individuals have lost their properties and have become penniless ending up as impoverished and homeless in the process. As reports have said, this phenomenon has indeed taken up all the sacrifices that any person can muster within the rural and suburban areas in the US. This phenomenon is most especially not a stranger to the likes of Mayor.

Consequently, Mayor lost his job and his working visa. He has then lived on as homeless Pinoy taking all his possessions in a backpack with him and sleeping in mini buses in the city.

“Ang sabi ko sa pamilya ko uuwi na ko. Nahihirapan na ako,” he said.

(I told my family that I'm going back to the Philippines. I can't take it anymore.)

Mayor is now in the hands of a non-profit organization. The organization has been helping him to get housing and employment, and a decent meal on his table.

“Sakripisyo talaga,” Mayor added.

(It's really a sacrifice being here.)

For now, Mayor is still fixed on gaining his American dream despite the hardships he has faced.

The story doesn't end there yet. It still remains to be seen as to where this humble story will go. Mayor is still holding onto dear faith and waiting where it will take him.

Entertainment: Prince "Potter"

HBP.What is it?High-Blood Pressure? enggk!Heaven in-Between Pants? wrong!Help Benz Please?..Flattering but no..To answer that though, it is but the acronym of the famous sixth installment of a widely known and acknowledged literary work of the decade. It sums up in three words the next epic of the age that draws the line between the grand battle of good and evil, of raging hormones and the wonderful effects of Felix Felicis, of the plight of two bespectacled individuals and the legion of a slit-eyed death-defying mutant. It is the next journey to the world of the boy who lived to tell the tale of his own demise. It is that succinct subtitle known to be as "Half-Blood Prince".The Harry Potter franchise has been a winner when its first book came out. It brushed off as something childishly innocent but subtly mature and indulgent. It was perhaps one of the few books that managed to keep me on my seat and my eyes glued page after page after page. Since then, Joanne Kathleen Rowling has become a household name and a multi-millionaire, if my memory still serves me right, she was able to gain certain acquisitions rivaling that of Queen Elizabeth II of England. She was able to spawn seven articulate and well-motivated books about the boy with a lightning scar on his forehead and the unraveling of his life through the looming doom of his age and the impending strike of his greatest enemy, Lord Voldemort. The lush and witty storytelling of this narrative was able to strike at the hearts of those who encountered it on bookshelves and even at the hands of those people who were kind enough to lend some the episodes of the book to their acquaintances (my gratitude is forever extended to Chesca, Ar-eF, and Isis..hehe).Due to its undeniable popularity, the material was adapted onto movie screens around the world. Since 2002, the books were translated into movies starting off from the first one down to the sixth which is "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". The movies were all distributed by Warner Brothers Distribution and produced by David Heyman. Since then, it has went on to earn 4 billion plus in sales. The critics have passed on their judgments and as most of them have elected, "The newest movie is the freshest and the best so far." Some even stressed that the movie will go on to rank as one of the top three earning movies of this year. Definitely a feat and a sign that the best is yet to come as the final book will be broken into two movies for the grand conclusion and was said to be released in late 2010 and 2011, respectively. Check it out! See the listings of the release dates here. The first(Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone) and second(Chamber of Secrets) were done by Chris Columbus, the third(Prisoner of Azkaban) by Alfonso Cuaron and the final five(Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows 1 and 2) by David Yates.[...]

Journal Entry: Untitled..

The following is but the only love story I have ever written. This was when we were made to create a love story by our Psychology teacher way back when. I don't really know why she ever made us do it but, what the hell, it was for the grade...and i still have no idea what I'd call it.. She was marvelous. She looked breathtakingly beautiful in white. I’ve never seen her with her hair so promptly held back in a tight bun as the gossamer veil that intentionally tried to hide her whole visage showed a little outline. Yep. It was like a dream; a not so pleasant dream. She was everything I’ve ever wanted. She walked pretty slowly as if she was in slow motion, as if everything just suddenly lost some momentum as she entered the holy temple of the Almighty. Crimson petals were thrown at her feet as if everyone was adoring her infinite beauty with such frivolous and feverish glee. Until she slowly pursed her lips and forced a reluctant smile that my world began to make tremors on its own. I was lovestoned*. I was about to burst but I held back knowing that people would be looking. People were beaming at her as if they were telling her she was really beautiful and lucky for having met a man to live her life with. As much as she tried to hide it, I could see she was pretty concerned on the moment that she was going to say “I do”. It was probably one of those so-called “jitters”. At that moment I knew I had to do something to help her out in the least. That was then when I felt my face was painstakingly contorting with such effort that I could feel my cheek revolting the fact that I was trying to make something of a smile. I could see her looking at me. She was smiling as well with such teary-eyed expression that just made me want to pull her out of the place and take her to somewhere where she can feel the restraints leaving her like that day when I finally told her about how I felt. Oh, yes..She was pretty happy that day. But today, everything was different. Nerves were running high and anxiety never seemed so larger than life. But still, I was surprised with how much restraint I was able to come up with. Then, she was closer than ever to me. She looked at me with great longing in her eyes but I could only do so much as smile back to her and lower my head. I was giving way. I was giving my way for another person to stand beside me. I was giving way to the man that made me his best man. I was giving way to my best friend who I’ve never seen so happy before. I could see how bright his future could be and how incomplete mine would become. It was like doing a good deed butfeel really bad about it. At that moment, I seemed like I was writing not a sin but a tragedy of my own. She was looking at him as he took her hand and led her to the altar. She looked nervous and shaking and that was when I saw my friend whispering to her trying to comfort that she forced another contortion of the face muscles. I was really amazed at how much people are becomingly good at abnormal exhibitions of the facial exteriors. Something struck me. I realized that was supposed to be my whisper and I swore I felt the reins were slowly slipping, self-projection was insignificant and consideration was the least of my worries. In that moment, I knew things would never be the same again and I’m pretty sure that it will never be. I have decided.[...]

Goings-on 4: The Passenger

Whenever I'm driving I always have my iPod playing out loud on the car speakers. I'd be rolling it out on the streets in cool fashion. Nodding and singing along to my most favored songs, I was impervious to my surroundings. Inebriated at the moment with sheer disregard of what was going on, I didn't care. It was until I noticed a certain passenger on a jeepney before me. He was looking at me. Feeling both awkward and scrutinized, I slowly lifted up my phone to make it look like I was having a call on loudspeaker. He bought it. Hehe.

Goings-On 3: The Awakening

Yesternight, I decided to sleep late for something that anyone would consider as nothing but a waste of time. I have already planned out everything that I'd be doing the following morning. Having that in mind, I kept in my head the thought that I would be able to wake up early no matter what because some people have always provided me the notion that everything can be done if you just put your mind to it. Having finished what I was doing, I went to bed with still the idea persevering in my head. The following morning I woke up past noon. I was fooled.
