Staff Council fleece jackets, tumblers still available

Due to the huge demand for the Mississippi State fleece jackets, MSU Staff Council is taking additional orders. Orders must be placed no later than Oct. 28 on or before 5 p.m. When the jackets arrive, Staff Council will designate a date when you can pay for and pick up your jacket(s). Staff Council also has a large quantity of tumblers, and they will be available for purchase on the order pickup date. If you would only like to purchase a tumbler, please contact the Staff Council Office at The jackets sell for $25 each and the tumblers are $15 each.

MSU receives federal grant to assist low-income students

Thanks to a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Mississippi State University will assist up to 500 low-income students with money for school and a financial literacy program.

Mississippi State Associate Professor Charles Palmer spent more than two decades as a mental health counselor before a motorcycle accident caused him to become a client in rehabilitation counseling. For the last 18 years, Palmer has been helping MSU graduate students make careers out of helping others also in need of rehabilitation.

Learning Center at MSU offering ACT prep workshop Nov. 12

The Learning Center at Mississippi State is offering an ACT Preparation Workshop on Nov. 12 from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in Allen Hall, Room 246. The workshop is open to all area high school and college students who plan to take the ACT. There will be four areas of concentration: English, Math, Reading, and Science Reasoning. The cost is $75, and participants will receive a book, "Barron's 2nd/3rd Edition, ACT 36: Aiming for the Perfect Score." Beginning Nov. 7, there will be a $50 late fee in addition to the cost of $75.
