The mission of the forum is to promote open source software development in
Pakistan and develop a community in the country within the next 2-3 years
for large-scale open source initiatives.

The benefits would be three-pronged: to the community and nation in
large, to the fresh graduates, and the alumni of FAST and other leading universities.

The forum aims to achieve these objectives:
* Develop a forum where developers can talk about open source software development
* Train developers / fresh graduates on open source technologies and
* Educate user community about open source software by providing
absolutely free software which is free to download with complete source code and documentation. This software will be easy to install and user friendly
* To sharpen the skills of fresh computer science graduates so that they can
be easily absorbed by the industry
* Promote entrepreneurial activities by encouraging alumni and graduates
to start their own organizations to install/implement/train end users for this product for a fee based on the knowledge of this project
* Promote efficiencies in business management with the use of cost effective business applications
* Make software / latest technology affordable for all sizes of business which they can customize according to their needs
* Provide stable, standardized business applications for the users
* Increase the knowledge about business applications like General
Ledger, Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, Fixed Assets, Budgeting, Cash
Flow, etc. amongst the computer scientists of Pakistan
* Give the software development community of Pakistan a chance to work
as part of a large team
* Provide the alumni a platform to make a difference on the national
* Promote the sharing of knowledge and experience between alumni,
fresh graduates and students
* Have at-least a few industry strength projects with credit going to the universities for providing this software to the industry. In the west you hear about different universities contributing to the society/industry by offering products as well as research. We would like this culture to grow in Pakistani Universities.
