Vector Visuals 2006.12.02 Released

Sat, 02 Dec 2006 22:39:42 -0000

Vector Visuals provides an easy-to-use, object-based API for creating and manipulating Java2D-rendered shapes and images. It features object embedding, dynamic connectors, and multithreaded task support.

Well over a year in the making, this release of Vector Visuals is a combination of bug fixes and new features. This release sees the addition of persistence delegates for all of the Vector Visuals objects, along with the moving of the examples out into their own source folder. Additionally, the entire product is now licensed under a permissive "New BSD"-style license.

Vector Visuals 2005.10.19 Released

Wed, 19 Oct 2005 23:11:33 -0000

Vector Visuals provides an easy-to-use, object-based API for creating and manipulating Java2D-rendered shapes and images. It features object embedding, dynamic connectors, and multithreaded task support.

This release, nearly a year in the making, represents a leap for Vector Visuals from a hobby project to a commercial-grade library. It is now available under either a commercial license or the GPL, depending upon your needs.

We understand that not every small project wants to go the GPL route, so very small organizations (1-5 people) can even get a commercial Vector Visuals license FREE OF COST.

The changes in this release's codebase are substantial, ranging from fundamental improvements to a whole new battery of helpful examples. Users of Vector Visuals should consider this a "must have" edition.

Vector Visuals 2004.11.14 Released

Sun, 14 Nov 2004 04:42:58 -0000

Vector Visuals provides an easy-to-use, object-based API for creating and manipulating Java2D-rendered shapes and images. It features object embedding, dynamic connectors, and multithreaded task support.

Certainly the most exciting release of Vector Visuals to date, version 2004.11.14 makes a quantum leap in terms of the sophistication of the AnimationTask system. An event-based callback system has been added that allows code to be notified when tasks start and finish, and a "cycle length" concept has been implemented, allowing excessive CPU use to be curbed during animations. This release is a "must have" for any user of Vector Visuals!

Vector Visuals is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License, and is 100% free of cost.

This release focuses on improving the animation features of Vector Visuals. Thread management has been improved, and a new "TaskChain" class has been added that allows tasks to be executed in sequence rather than only in parallel.

This is the last release of Vector Visuals that will not require Java 5.0.

Vector Visuals is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License, and is 100% free of cost.
