At long last, xvidcap releases version 1.1.4.
This version should be the most tested, polished, and usable release of xvidcap ever ... by far.

This version no longer has an Xt UI!

In return it has a load of other goodies, like:
- fewer bugs :)
- documentation (need yelp to read it)
- availability in English, German, Italian, Spanish (a very big round of applause to Vincenzo and Imanol)
- recent versions
- on-the-fly frame size reduction

xvidcap releases completely overhauled 1.1.4 preview 3

Mon, 10 Jul 2006 16:22:09 -0000

xvidcap is a screen capture enabling you to capture videos off your X-Window desktop for illustration or documentation purposes. It is intended to be a standards-based alternative to tools like Lotus ScreenCam.

New 1.1.4pre3 available for download and in SVN now!

This is a major refactoring of the project to increase ease-of-use and ease-of-installation. The project has dropped a number of peripheral features to put more speed into the central functionality.

main updates since 1.1.4pre2:

- new ffmpeg version
- no more Xt UI
- glade and autogen based
- more sensible compilation defaults (./configure && make install will do what most people want)
- lot's of code cleanups ...

Fri, 10 Sep 2004 20:40:39 -0000

Hello folks,

I'm somewhat proud to see xvidcap has passed its 10,000th download, and the FAQ's most wanted item has been viewed for more than 1,000 times.
Time for some extra diet coke, chocolate, and getting back to work ;)

Btw. you will also find tag r1_1_3p6 in CVS, now which includes all current patches (except for the one for ffmpeg 0.4.9).

Thanks everybody, keep the bug reports coming.

experimental audio support in CVS

Tue, 02 Dec 2003 14:32:12 -0000

xvidcap CVS now includes audio capture functionality through the use of libavcodec. If you have a system that can capture audio using ffmpeg, feel free to try the code and file bugs.
To try it, checkout from CVS, configure as normal, add a line to config.h saying "#define AUDIO_WANTED" and make.
Please give the developer CVS a little time to soak into anon CVS.

xvidcap 1.1.0 released

The UNIX-based motion video screen capture utility takes a major step forward.

Not only does it now offer a GTK2 GUI as an alternative to the previously solely available Xt GUI, allows for capture of the mouse pointer, and limited command line control for completely GUI-less (invisible) operation. The code has also undergone a major reorganisation to allow for future enhancements of the (GTK) GUI and easy additions of other front-ends.

Have a look at it at:
