The name “methiozolin” was provisionally approved by ISO in December 2008, and the replacement name “metiozolin” was sent to preliminary enquiry to correct the spelling. However, the INN “metizoline” has now been found to be a barrier to the final acceptance of both spellings, and therefore the provisional approval of “methiozolin” has been cancelled and the proposed replacement “metiozolin” has been rejected.

The revised definition will be included in a future Amendment to Pesticides and other agrochemicals – Common names (ISO 1750:1981).

The stereochemistry in the IUPAC names of the minor component should be S (not R) at position 2 in the bridged fused ring name and at position 7 in the von Baeyer name. With this correction, the stereochemistry is the same in the IUPAC names and the CAS name. The same correction needs to be made in the IUPAC von Baeyer name in Amendment 5 (ISO 1750:1981/Amd. 5:2008) for Pesticides and other agrochemicals – Common names (ISO 1750:1981).

Use the search box on the home page to search for InChIKeys. You can search for full InChIKeys or just the first 14-character skeletal string; for example ABOOPXYCKNFDNJ-SNVBAGLBSA-N will find quizalofop-P, and ABOOPXYCKNFDNJ will find both quizalofop and quizalofop-P.
