  • Regarding the Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico ...
Regarding the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Now they\'re speculating it could take months before they will be able to finally repair it.

By that time the entire Caribbean Sea could be destroyed .. the birds, the fish, the whales, the crustaceans, the coral reefs, the plants ... everything could be killed off -- EVERYTHING! Not to mention local industry and livelihoods lost.

This could end up becoming an unprecedented ecological disaster that will take incaculable years for mother nature to recover. And now they\'re talking about drilling another rig in the Atlantic? Are they kidding?

I say forget about changing the rules like Obama suggests. Clearly they don\'t have the technology to deal with a disaster like this and offshore drilling should be banned outright.

That\'s just my humble opinion of course.

  • So-called "Content Curation" has been a sore spot for me for years .. one of my primary issues with this concept
So-called \"Content Curation\" has been a sore spot for me for years.

One of my primary issues with this concept is the huge number of bloggers who seem to think this entitles them to plagiarize original content without linking. Readers who have known me over the years will remember my now-famous blog wars with Darren Rowse over this very issue.

Is this just another marketing buzzword (or excuse) for plagiarizing original content? You know what I think .. how about you?

  • Marketer gloats Facebook Now Controls The Internet
The premise being that YouTube videos (owned by Google) have a Facebook link.

Hmm, so if the author is correct (that Facebook now controls the internet) that would be a sad day for the rest of us schmucks who make up 99.9% of the internet .. indeed.

Because who would it really be good for? I would say the internet marketers (I can you hear the author salivating all the way over here) and Facebook\'s owners. That\'s who. Us? No way.

As for me I\'m all the more glad I discovered Amplify. I feel safe here. Too bad more Facebook users don\'t agree (or understand).
  • Privacy and Security in a Social Media World .. Has Facebook Gone Too Far?
Captain Kirk once told me the best defense is an offense. Now that he\'s a lawyer (Denny Crane) I guess he knows what he\'s talking about.

Read this heated debate I\'m having with Robert Scoble and Jeff Jarvis. You won\'t believe your eyes. They say we should give in to Zuckerberg\'s (Facebook) privacy terrorism. I told them they\'re full of it.

  • My First Amplification
This is my first post on amplify. It looks like a great option for extended tweeting beyond the few characters that Twitter only allows and a full-blown post on my blog. It has an auto-tweet feature and/or you can auto-send to your favorite social network like Linkedin or Facebook for example.

What I really like about Amplify is it\'s pseudo-blog customization options with the ease of a drag-and-drop interface. It\'s kinda like Twitlonger http://www.twitlonger.com on steroids with social networking/blog-like features built in. There\'s also a nice bookmarklet that you can drag to your browser for spontaneous tweeting/posting.

What\'s the bottom line? It\'s certainly not a replacement for your Blog or Twitter, but it fits smack-dab in between. Nice.

Looks to me like Amplify has found a niche for itself and is a winner. (Who needs Facebook).

  • The Social Media Generation OR Paradise Lost
I was discussing today this generation‘s complacency with Social Media privacy. I think I hit it on the head when I said they don‘t appreciate what they have until one day they will wake up and suddenly realize those “rights” that we took for granted are no longer a right ...

  • How Long Should a Blog Post Really Be?
There seems to be a widely held view out there that blog posts should be limited to only about 300 words maximum. Others stretch that to 500 words or less. They justify their opinion by saying readers suffer from Attention Deficit Disorder and can’t focus long enough to read anything more. Please forgive me if I sound cynical but I see a lot of holes in their argument that require a little more investigation...
  • 2010 Marks the Beginning of the End for Quality Content
It came to my attention last evening that Twitter accounts are now getting better PR than their Blog counterparts. Sure enough I checked around and every Twitter account that I found had a better PageRank than it’s blog. Holy Crap! They gotta be kidding...

  • Can Social Networks Destroy Blogging?
Can Social Networks Destroy Blogging? Yes possibly, blogging could end as we now know it so long as the trend continues and influential bloggers irresponsibly push social networking sites like Facebook. They’re acting like opportunists exploiting the latest trend instead of being an example and warning of its limitations and dangers thereof. Reality Check...
