we are migrating from the Moodle server at www.mvcr.org to http://learn.illinois.edu (Learn@Illinois)

Fri, 8 Aug 2014 00:00:00 CST

The August 25 MVCR classes are being prepared now. The remainder of MVCR courses and profiles (since January of 2011) will be migrated later this fall. There is still time to register! MVCR.org should remain available until Sept. 15. Your login process at learn.illinois.edu will be different but not more difficult. When enrollments are uploaded, if you have a NetID at UIUC, you will use that NetID. Everyone else will use the Moodle-Only button and your email address to log in. Use your ION/MVCR password. Only August MVCR enrollees should expect to log into learn.illinois.edu to begin with. More details and instructions will follow. A task for you, if you wish, is to copy whatever description (your bio, interests, etc.) in your profile at mvcr.org and save it somewhere under your control (your desktop, a thumb drive, email it to yourself…) Your basic profile will be part of the migration but the description may not. Your access to previous courses will be restored as the courses are migrated. Your ION records are not moving. The ION site where you register and location of your MyMVCR page will remain at www.ion.uillinois.edu.

You now have a third Core Choice in the MOT program

Fri, 8 Aug 2014 00:00:00 CST

Ability to create accessible and mobile-friendly web content has become vital to successful participation in online teaching. Accordingly, ION has included 'Universal Design Principles for Online Learning' (UD) as one of what I call the Core choice in the MOT program. Thus, after completing OO, SA, and ID, and before the practicum, one now has a choice between Encouraging Communication (EC), Technology Tools (TT), and UD before deciding on an elective. The MOT still requires six (6) courses. This change essentially elevates UD from elective-only, to core choice/elective. If one successfully completes a second course in that core choice group, the second course will count as the elective if needed.

Faculty Summer Institute 2013 a Success!

Fri, 24 May 2013 00:00:00 CST

The 2013 Faculty Summer Institute at the University of Illinois was a great success. We celebrated a couple of "first-evers" this year. This was the first year of a "bring your own device" approach. Early indications are that it was received well. This was also the first year that we held the event at the IHotel, where we could have all the keynotes, concurrent sessions, meals, and networking events in the same location. Again, early indications are that it went well. Thanks to all the ION participants who attended. See you next year?

We've finally landed on a technology that cost-effectively allows us to communicate by email readily with the people who register with us on the ION website. Yet, if you have Boxbe or Earthlink spam protection, you might be missing out. Please check to see if ion-mail@uillinois.edu is on your safe list.

Past MVCR Course Availability Policy

Wed, 16 Jan 2013 00:00:00 CST

The MVCR administrator deactivates courses beyond one term in the past. This disables your immediate access to the course but permit us to keep your past courses on the server longer. When we deactivate a course, it is still there and you still have your enrollment in it. It is just unavailable to you.

We strongly encourage you to take the measures necessary to capture your work in your current courses. If you need access to a deactivated course (since January of 2011) contact the ION office by email to request a two week reactivation. At the end of two weeks past the reactivation date, we will return the course to its deactivated state. We will fulfilled requests for reactivation within two business days.

Courses prior to January of 2011 are not available for re-activation.

To request the course reactivation, write to mvcr-info@uIllinois.edu and make sure the words "course reactivation request" are in the subject line along with the course section number. For example, the blended/hybrid learning course that ran in January of 2011 would be BL1111. Those details are found in your course history in the ION website when you enter myMVCR.

Adjustment in the ION MVCR course retention policy

Thu, 28 Jun 2012 00:00:00 CST

Effective August 1, 2012, the MVCR administrator will deactivate courses beyond one term in the past. This will disable your immediate access to the course but will permit us to keep your past courses on the server longer. When we deactivate a course, it is still there and you still have your enrollment in it. It is just unavailable to you.

We strongly encourage you to take whatever measures necessary to capture your work in your current courses. After August 1, if you need access to a deactivated course (since January of 2011) contact the ION office by email to request a two week reactivation. At the end of two weeks past the reactivation date, we will return the course to its deactivated state. We will fulfilled requests for reactivation within two business days.

MVCR celebrates first Vietnamese MOT awards

Wed, 21 Apr 2010 00:00:00 CST

On April 8th, 2010, the first group of Vietnamese online instructors (OMT trainers and associates based in Hanoi and Dak Lak) officially received the Master Online Teacher Certificate from the Illinois Online Network (ION.)
In January 2009, OMT became a Global Partner of the Illinois Online Network , ION’s first global partner in Vietnam, thus joining ION’s mission to “... promote and build foundations for developing, delivering, and supporting online-enhanced education.”
Mr. Do Thanh Chung, OMT associate trainer in Dak Lak, who completed the program with straight As, shared: “The 12 months I participated in the Master Online Teacher certificate program was one of the most challenging but also most exciting times of my life. Never before had I imagined that I could take part in and successfully complete a formal training program in the US, half the globe away from my home, while continuing my teaching and consulting work in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces”.
Experienced and certified Vietnamese trainers, relevant and updated contents, flexible and open training platforms are key factors that will bring the pioneering Online Management Training program to success, on the way to become the most preferred Online Training Provider for Vietnamese enterprises.
