Lynn opens series vs. Rays after off-day

Twins right-hander Lance Lynn (0-1, 5.00 ERA) will take the mound in the opener of a three-game series against the Rays at Tropicana Field tonight at 6:10 p.m. CT. Lynn, who hasn't started since April 9, will start opposite Tampa Bay right-hander Chris Archer (1-1, 7.84). After giving up five runs in his first inning of the season, Lynn has thrown eight straight scoreless frames but said he needs to pitch deeper into games.

Berrios dueled Indians starter Carlos Carrasco over seven scoreless innings, long before Edwin Encarnacion and Miguel Sano each swatted home runs in the 14th frame of the 5-hour, 13-minute Puerto Rico Series finale.

Despite not having his best stuff, right-hander Jake Odorizzi navigated his way through six solid innings to outpitch Dallas Keuchel and lead the Twins to a 4-1 win over the Astros on a cold Tuesday night at Target Field with a game-time temperature of 39 degrees. Odorizzi walked five and gave up five hits, but surrendered just one run, as he was able to pitch his way out of several jams. He picked up his first win since joining the Twins via trade in Spring Training and lowered his ERA to 2.20 in three outings.

The Twins received some good news on Tuesday regarding the health status of veteran right-hander Ervin Santana. Santana, who underwent surgery on the middle finger of his throwing hand on Feb. 5, received a positive prognosis from team doctors and a local hand specialist, Dr. Thomas Varecka. Santana is scheduled to begin a throwing program in Fort Myers, Fla., on Wednesday.
