Charlie Morton threw seven scoreless innings against his former team and rookie outfielder Derek Fisher capped a four-run sixth inning with a two-run single to lift the Astros to a 5-0 win over the Phillies on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park.



Bregman exits early with hamstring discomfort

Astros third baseman Alex Bregman is listed as day to day after sustaining right hamstring tightness while legging out a third-inning triple in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Bregman scored on a sacrifice fly, but he was removed from the game before the bottom of the frame.



Springer could sit for a few to rest ailing quad

Astros outfielder George Springer, who was removed from Monday's game in the third inning with left quad discomfort, might not play until Friday. The Astros are off Thursday, so manager A.J. Hinch said he might keep Springer tied to the bench on Tuesday and Wednesday to give him three full days of rest.



New Philly memories for Penn. native Fisher

Derek Fisher's previous trip to Citizens Bank Park prior to Tuesday night came during the 2011 postseason in his senior year of high school. He drove the 90 miles from his home in Lebanon, Pa., to watch Roy Halladay throw a no-hitter in the playoffs. As great as that memory was for Fisher, his performance Tuesday for the Astros will stand out in his mind even more.

Mike Fiers faces Aaron Nola on Wednesday night as the Astros go for a sweep of the Phillies. Fiers has been on a roll since May. He's 6-2 with a 2.36 ERA in his last 10 starts. He ranks fourth in the Majors in ERA since May 30, trailing past Cy Young Award winners Corey Kluber (1.52), Clayton Kershaw (1.65) and Max Scherzer (1.77).

James Paxton continued his mastery of the Astros, allowing six hits and one run with seven strikeouts in seven innings, as the Mariners took a series at Minute Maid Park with a 4-1 victory Wednesday afternoon. Ben Gamel's two-run homer in the fourth inning put the Mariners ahead, 2-1, and was all the offense needed for Paxton, who improved to 2-0 in three starts this year against Houston, allowing one run in 20 innings.
