UCSD HIllel building plans up for debate

Thu, 27 Apr 2017 14:00:34 GMT

The City Planning Commission will hear from both sides of a hotly-debated plan to build a Hillel Jewish Student Center across the street from UCSD.

Renderings of a 6500 square foot Hillel Jewish Student Center that the University of California wants to build across the street from campus. But some neighbors say it's not appropriate to put that in a neighborhood full of single-family homes. Both sides will present their views to the City Planning Commission on Thursday. It includes three buildings and a 10,000 square foot park. The student center will be on a one-acre parcel of land on La Jolla Village Drive, in between Torrey Pines Road and La Jolla Scenic Drive.
