Community Service: Marvine ASPIRE Program

The Marvine ASPIRE program is getting underway on September 22nd. The after school program meets Monday through Friday from 2:40 - 6:00 p.m. Assist the ASPIRE coordinator with attendance, snacks and helping with all programs. Community Service: Hula-Hoop-Athon

Attention all staff and students, you are invited to participate in the Hula-Hoopathon for Breast Cancer, which will be held on Sunday October 5th from 11:00 a.m until 1:30 p.m at Liberty High School. This is the second year of the event which benefits breast cancer research and Alex's Lemonade Stand. Registration forms are available in the Community Service Office. Community Service: Lincoln Elementary School

Lincoln Elementary School has several volunteer opportunities. Beginning September 8, childcare is needed every Monday and Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. This will be ongoing until December. At least 2 students are needed to run an aerobic/fitness class with fun activities in the Lincoln gym, twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. The program will run for 6-8 weeks. Friday afternoon readers are needed, starting in October, from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. This is open to any interested students. Community Service: Memorial Pool Building

Students can assist in the assembly of luminary kits, assist with distribution, and set-up and clean-up of luminaries. This activity is occurring in November and December at the Memorial Pool Building on Illick's Mill Road, but New Bethany Ministries would like to know now if you are willing to volunteer. Community Service: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is holding their annual Light The Night Walk, a way to show community support for cancer patients. Your help is needed with set-up and clean-up at the event on Saturday, October 4. The walk will be held at Northampton Community College. Community Service: VIA of the Lehigh Valley

VIA of the Lehigh Valley will benefit from an upcoming 5k run/walk, the Lehigh Valley Hospital Marathon for VIA. Volunteers are needed for the water stations, course marshals, and registration. SSC: Health Care Career Discovery Program

Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg is offering Health Care Career Discovery Programs for those interested in learning more about the positions necessary to help a hospital operate. Doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, radiologist, physical therapists and others will be on hand at the presentations to interact with students and answer questions. Each program is free, but pre-registration is required. Go to www.lvh.org, click on “Education”, then “Health Care Discovery” for more information and to register.

BEA "Tough Teddy" Collection

The Bethlehem Education Association will be collecting new teddy bears starting today until October 23. They will be donated to the children’s wards of the local hospitals. Drop off your bear donation to one of your building reps.



Homecoming Dance

Tickets for the homecoming dance will be on sale for $12 in the Cafeteria on Tuesday, September 23 – Thursday, September 25 only. There will be no tickets sold at the door! All guests must be pre-approved in their SSC offices prior to purchasing a quest ticket. Refreshments are included in the price of admission.

The homecoming dance will be held on Saturday, September 27 from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. in the Cafeteria. All students are to enter through the Memorial Gym doors on the Athletic Office side. This is a semi-formal dance, no jeans or sneakers are permitted. All students must have their ID to enter. No backpacks or large handbags are permitted. All small handbags brought in will be checked!

Homecoming t-shirts will be on sale in the Cafeteria from Tuesday, September 23 – Thursday, September 25 while supplies last. T-shirts are $10, you can get them personalized for $4 extra.
