Authorities have identified a man who was shot by police officers last weekend as 40-year-old Demetrius Mac Moore of Security. The sheriff's office said previously that deputies and Colorado Springs police officers got into a gunfight near Colorado Springs on Sunday with the man now identified as Moore.

A company based in Austin, Texas, has performed a comparison of water rates in Colorado, and guess what. Colorado Springs has the highest rates, according to LawnStarter Lawn Care, a for-profit company that says it helps people find, schedule, pay for and manage lawn care services.

The Colorado Supreme Court has overturned a judge's decision to toss a teenager's sex assault confession after ruling that Colorado law only requires a parent to be present during a police interrogation of a juvenile, regardless of the parent's motive. Justice William W. Hood III, delivering the opinion of the Colorado Supreme Court, reversing Judge Donna Schmalberger's decision barring Denver prosecutors from using a confession by a 16-year-old juvenile identified only as A.L.-C.

The closing days of the push to make Colorado the nation's first state with universal health care are showing why supporters face such steep odds. Most voters have already received ballots in the mail and endured a long campaign to explain the measure, but huge questions remained at a meeting this week in suburban Denver to examine the proposal: How much is this really going to cost? Who would decide what my health care would look like? And what if it all ends in failure? The measure would set up a $25 billion-a-year health care system funded by payroll taxes, replacing the system of paying private health insurers for care and opting out of the federal health care law.

A ring found in Colorado led a Lafayette high school to look back in time to find its owner, and the mystery has been solved. A Colorado Springs detective said the owner's storage locker was broken into and she was not sure what was taken until she saw her ring on Facebook.

With Election Day two weeks away, the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder's Office is providing more places for residents to get their votes counted. The office announced Monday the locations of 12 more Voter Service and Polling Centers across the county, including in Falcon, Monument, Fountain and Fort Carson.
