Jury gets 'Make My Day' case in Colorado Springs shooting

A Colorado Springs jury is deliberating whether a U.S. Army Green Beret was justified in fatally shooting an intruder inside his garage under Colorado's "Make My Day" law. The Colorado Springs Gazette reports that jurors will resume deliberations Monday in the murder trial of Michael Joseph Galvin.

Colorado is used to seeing marijuana sales tax dollars spike in April, thanks to the 4/20 holiday on April 20, but that wasn't the case this year, according to the Colorado Department of Revenue . Sales tax data from the regulatory agency responsible for overseeing the state's Marijuana Enforcement Division shows that Colorado's 10 percent retail marijuana sales tax brought in slightly over $8.1 million statewide in April 2017, over $1 million more than the $6.94 million collected in April 2016 - but $2 million-plus less than what March brought in this year.

Authorities say a man who jumped to his death from an 11th-floor apartment building in New York was a sex offender who was being taken into custody at the time for a parole violation. The Post-Standard reports that the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision issued a statement Wednesday night identifying the parolee as 37-year-old Jason Jock.
