The recently built power station at Pembroke in South Wales is, at 2,160MW, the largest combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in the UK. It was recently built for RWE npower by Alstom Power Systems. Hager + Elsässer was contracted by Alstom to supply the process water system to feed the gas turbines.

ERG (Air Pollution Control) has completed a major 300k project to refurbish the odour control plant at the East Worthing Wastewater Treatment Works belonging to Southern Water. The project was undertaken on behalf of main contractor Barhale Trant Utilities, and is in addition to the regular preventative maintenance programme that ERG carries out on behalf of Southern Water.

ERG (Air Pollution Control) Ltd. in Horsham has just installed another new V-texTM gas scrubber unit at a major pharmaceutical manufacturer in Ireland. Some pharmaceutical manufacturing processes can produce gases laden with aggressive acid and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These must be treated before they can be safely vented to atmosphere. The V-texTM scrubber is ideally suited to this tough gas cleaning challenge, and is designed to remove greater than 99% of the acidic contaminants.



ERG secures £2 million Iraq odour control deal

Until the mid-1980's the wastewater by the Sugar Factory at Julich (between Aachen and Cologne in Germany) was treated in existing wastewater lagoons. As the German government's regulations became progressively more stringent, a more advanced wastewater treatment plant design became more desirable and, eventually, mandatory. H+E were commissioned to build the new anaerobic / aerobic wastewater treatment plant.

Ecologia was instructed to undertake emergency excavation works, after an accidental loss of approximately 850 litres of kerosene heating oil from a faulty above-ground storage tank at a private domestic property in Kent. The loss occurred above a Principal Aquifer in close proximity to a major drinking water abstraction point.

Ecologia completed the successful remediation of a former cast iron foundry in Faversham, Kent. The 2 hectare site was to be developed for a mixed residential and commercial end use. Ecologia was appointed to carry out post-demolition remediation operations, including the excavation and treatment of all site-won contaminated and non-contaminated materials, in accordance with site specific remedial targets derived by a Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) for a mixed residential and commercial land use.

The Former Chestfield Service Station occupies an area of approximately 1000 m2 located within a small commercial site near Whitstable in Kent. The site was used as a petrol station between 1958 and 1996, subsequent to which the main buildings on site were demolished and the underground fuel storage tanks (USTs) sealed or decommissioned.
