Most of my other "underrated" titles are space operas, like Twilight Imperium, or Starcraft.. Starfarers of Catan was a favorite of mine around 12 years ago, but I don't think it holds up today. Too long for the amount of fun.

I have finally received both İttihat and the printed version of İhtilal. My first comment is: wow! A lot of intelligent work and clear-headed love entered in those games.

While İhtilal is printed at prototype quality (everything is there, looks gorgeous, but the cards MUST be sleeved and the tokens are on the thin side), the only thing at prototype quality in İttihat is the English version of the rules. they are at the best level a non-professional non-native speaker could write them, but they would benefit a lot from a revision by a native speaker. The rules would also benefit if they were arranged more consistently according to th traditional order: theme and victory conditions, setup, turn structure (but not game end, which is defined in the turn order and triggered by the victory conditions).

I have an editable version of the rulebook I prepared for my translation and rewriting into Romanian (half a A5 page longer than the original) so, if there are volunteers, I can make it available to them. Mechanically, the game seems to be a clever, history-based, even more paranoid upgrade of The Resistance and really deserves this improvement.

Everything breaks down into easy to handle chunks, and on your turn you only take 4 steps: 1)Play Cards 2)Apply Damage 3)Take Damage 4)Draw+Buy Cards.

Like most deck-builders, the magic comes from how the cards interact. The fact that Dragonfire is adding multiple new systems on top of this testifies to how sleek the core gameplay is.

Yes I believe the trick to winning is to get the cards down in a way so that you're able to skip the bad cards. Going through the deck could easily be an effect of that but I'm not sure I agree adding cards to the line blindly is a good idea. It's totally luck of the draw without any possibility for mitigation.

Yeah? I'd like to see why this made the list. I haven't played, but it seems to be a fairly complex game, no? Does it have a really clean set of rules then? Curious, thanks!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the interesting part about this list is that it can hold both very light and very heavy games, as long as the rules are at an appropriate complexity level to give you that elegance ratio you're looking for. Yes?

I'd like to make the obligatory "hey if you decide to split this stuff up" request as I'm interested in Price of Honour with GenCon pickup.

But I totally understand that you'd rather sell it off as a lot. Just throwing it out there in case you don't. :)

I'll think it over, extracting everything into it's individual system bits at this point would be a massive pain. :)

I live less than 15 minutes from their office (which is located inside Miniature Market) so proximity may have had something to do with it :)
