Déjà vu

Tue, 28 Mar 2017 20:37:41 +0100

Bath will feel a sense of déjà vu when they host Brive in the Challenge Cup on Saturday. The tie, with its famously dramatic connotations, may have a familiar feel, but which “already lived” moment will the fans experience? Will it be the nail-biting tension of 1998 in Bordeaux, the comfortable 6 try victory of the 2014 ECC Quarter Final or, heaven forbid, the lame capitulation of last weekend? Having lost their place in the Premiership top four, Bath may feel that European rugby is their best chance of silverware this season, but another showing like last Sunday, or even the defeat by Wasps a month ago will put an end to that ambition.  It would also be a further reminder of how far Bath must climb to match the glory of those past days. Memories can be charming and history at times inspiring, but it is the here and now which will concern the fans. For the players too, the most recent memory will be an embarrassment, to be erased.

Too Little Too Late

Mon, 27 Mar 2017 14:32:52 +0100

We have been waiting all season for the Blues to turn it on. The 44-21 victory at Scottish was very welcome but not witnessed by too many Blues supporters who have had to endure our least successful season for a long time ...

Happy Replays

Mon, 27 Mar 2017 14:20:48 +0100

What a happy weekend watching replays of that last impertinent  bonus  point winning try. Running the ball from behind your own try line and finishing it off at the other end to end the game was sublime. Thank you Willi, Johnny and BT Sport for the memory which will remain on the hard drive. ....

Bristol, bottom of the league, on the back of a bad run, thumped in the last two games - up against B**h.  Obviously a 12 – 11 victory was the only possible outcome.  Form book out of the window as Bristol’s struggle for Premiership survival continues.  The players stepped up to the mark in an enthralling, if tense, encounter.  Next up - the club we have to overhaul to avoid relegation.

I need a report!

Mon, 27 Mar 2017 13:19:58 +0100

Looks like we're going to continue to lose access to the message board until i get a story put up here!

Mon, 27 Mar 2017 12:42:07 +0100

On my way home this evening, two thoughts rather intruded as I wondered how to approach this match report:-    As Wayne Barnes was recently criticised for letting a match run 20 minutes over the 80, into 100 minutes, should he have averaged out his season by stopping this one after 60, to save Bath from further punishment, as we used to say in amateur boxing?

Australian GP: Massa secures points for Williams Martini

Sun, 26 Mar 2017 07:39:17 +0100

The results of the 2017 Australian GP would see Williams Martini driver Felipe Massa securing the teams points of the season with a sixth place finish. It was an uneventful race for the Brazilian but the same could not be said for his team-mate. Lance Stroll would retire late in the race with a brake issue but up till this point he had made a few rookie type mistakes including flat spotting his right front tyre at the start of the race. A positive start from the Williams team but they are still going to have to find pace from the FW40.

Prediction League Game 30 Livingston Vs. Airdrie

Sat, 25 Mar 2017 09:21:04 +0000

One of the problems with a 10 team league is that the tougher matches seem to come around to quickly, a win last week followed by Livingston this week, a win two weeks ago followed by Brechin away on the Tuesday, ultimately we hope we can get a few more wins before the end of the season getting a run of wins going would be even better, but there are no easy games for us in this league.

Australian GP: Mixed qualifying for Williams Martini

Sat, 25 Mar 2017 08:16:50 +0000

The results for the 2017 Australian GP would be mixed for the Williams Martini team with Felipe Massa finishing an encouraging 7th but for his team-mate Lance Stroll his qualifying would see him not make it past the first period. Lance had damaged his car in the final practice session which would see his mechanics finishing the repairs as the first period of qualifying started. With the reapirs on his car Lance would incur a five place grid penalty and what with his time this would see him start Sunday's race from last.

Australian GP: Frustrating FP2 for Williams Martini

Fri, 24 Mar 2017 06:56:08 +0000

The second Friday practice session for the 2017 Australian GP would not go as smoothly as the first for the Williams Martini team. The session would see Felipe Massa stop out on the track with what was reported to be a gearbox issue. Team-mate Lance Stroll would continue his runs in the FW40 but he would finish somehwat off the pace once the quicker times started to be seen. Felipe and Lance would finish in 14th and 16th. Quickest was Hamilton by a considerable margin.

Australian GP: Positive start for Williams Martini in FP1

Fri, 24 Mar 2017 04:27:13 +0000

It would be a positive start to the 2017 Australian GP weekend for the Williams Martin team. Both Felipe Massa and rookie Lance Stroll were able to complete the session with an impressive number of laps as they worked through their programme. Apart from a few rookie mistakes Lance was impressive on his first run in a F1 practice session. Felipe and Lance would finsih in 7th and 13th positions. Quickest was Hamilton.

Fri, 17 Mar 2017 16:34:05 +0000

Sad news as motor sport legend John Surtees has died at the age of 83.  The only man to be crowned world champion on both two wheels and four, ‘Big John’ was one of the most versatile of racers, and he left his mark in a way that few could hope to emulate; not least in the wake of personal tragedy.

ICC Absolves Steve Smith of Cheating

Thu, 09 Mar 2017 19:54:34 +0000

Steve Smith the Australian captain by his own admission had a “brain fade” when he sought the help of the dressing room to decide whether to review on-field umpiring decision.  The truth is this was not a one-off "brain fade" but the third time that Smith checked with the dressing room.  When it happened a third time, and TV cameras caught it the on-field umpires, who had been informed on the two previous occassions by Virat Kohli, finally intervened.  What Smith did was not only against the spirit of the game it was illegal.
