Well That Was Coming

Sun, 30 Apr 2017 19:01:04 +0100

No surprises at all there. I know Wenger is probably that blinkered and delusional that he thought his "masterstroke" going three at the back turned our season around and helped us turn a corner, but that really has been on the cards. We haven't looked convincing at all since changing formation.

Two draws means dropped points...

Sun, 30 Apr 2017 17:37:51 +0100

United remain unbeaten in the league since losing to Chelsea before Christmas but two more draws in their last two matches means that four precious points have been dropped in the race for a top four finish. The 0-0 draw at Manchester City on Thursday evening was followed by a below par performance at home when the reds were lucky to come away with anything at all in a 1-1 draw against relegation threatened Swansea City.

Russian GP: Difficult race for Williams Martini

Sun, 30 Apr 2017 15:08:35 +0100

The results of the 2017 Russian GP would see the Williams Martini team see their drivers finish in 9th and 11th. Felipe Massa would start from sixth and would run in this position for most of the race but a late puncture and pit stop would see him drop to ninth. For Lance Stroll he was just outside the points but at least he finished the race. But his race was spoilt by a spin on the first lap of the race that saw him drop down the order. It was a race of what might have been for the Williams team had their drivers not suffered their frustrations in the race.

An Excellent Limited Overs Start

Sun, 30 Apr 2017 15:16:42 +0100

Having made a distinctly rusty start to their County Championship campaign, Yorkshire have managed to hit the ground running in the Royal London One-Day Cup, recording an emphatic win over Nottinghamshire in their own backyard in a surprisingly one-sided encounter. This was a real team effort, with Joe Root excelling in the run chase and Tim Bresnan taking a lion share of the wickets, while the bowlers did not concede a single extra. Hopefully the Tykes can sustain this form in subsequent one-day outings, although consistency is often difficult to attain in limited overs contests - even for the best of teams.

Harlequins’ defeat of Wasps put a rather different spin on Kelly & Neil’s leaving party because all of a sudden the result mattered. Things were back in our own hands. A win today and another next Saturday would give us a home semi-final. Unfortunately someone forgot to cancel the clown!

Russian GP: Massa 6th in Qualfying for Williams Martini

Sat, 29 Apr 2017 14:25:57 +0100

Qualifying for the 2017 Russian GP would see the Williams Martini team finish with their drivers in 6th and 12th. Felipe Massa was able to make it into the final period and would on his last run split the Red Bull's. For Lance he was in the top ten but would be pushed down the order in the closing moments of the second period. Lance will have the ability to select the tyre he starts on in Sunday's race.

Prediction League Wk 35 East Fife Vs. Airdrie

Sat, 29 Apr 2017 14:01:53 +0100

So we're almost there, the penultimate game of the season sees us take on East Fife with both teams fighting for a play off spot. In the three previous meetings Airdrie have won one of the matches away from home and drawn the two home games. In the first meeting East Fife took the lead scoring though Kevin Smith it was Iain Russell who gave Airdrie a share of the spoils with a second half penalty. In the second match Andy Ryan scored the only goal away from home after only 10 minutes. In the last game Andy Ryan once again opened the scoring only for East Fife's Jason Kerr and Ross Brown to give East Fife a 2-1 lead. Jack Leitch scored with a minute to go on the clock to earn a draw.

Bristol, bottom of the league, on the back of a bad run, thumped in the last two games - up against B**h.  Obviously a 12 – 11 victory was the only possible outcome.  Form book out of the window as Bristol’s struggle for Premiership survival continues.  The players stepped up to the mark in an enthralling, if tense, encounter.  Next up - the club we have to overhaul to avoid relegation.

Russian GP: Encouraging FP3 for Williams Martini

Sat, 29 Apr 2017 11:25:56 +0100

The final practice session for the 2017 Russian GP would be an encouraging one for the Williams Martini team with Felipe Massa and Lance Stroll finishing in 6th and 11th. It was an uneventful session for the Williams team with Felipe completing a super soft tyre run prior to switching to the ultra soft. Lance would focus on the ultra soft tyre with this session been the first time he had the opportunity to run on this tyre.

Russian GP: Massa in top ten for Williams Martini in FP2

Fri, 28 Apr 2017 14:53:47 +0100

The second Friday practice session for the 2017 Russian GP would see Williams Martini driver Felipe Massa finish in an encouraging 7th position. For his team-mate Lance Stroll his session would see him run only on the suoer soft tyre as he focused on learning the Sochi track. He did not run on the ultra soft tyre explaining his low 19th position in the times. Saturday should see him move up the times.

Another Four-Two Victory!

Tue, 25 Apr 2017 22:24:54 +0100

For the second time in four days, the league leaders have scored four goals whilst also conceding twice. On each occasion the incomparable Eden Hazard found the back of the net, while the double helping was this time bagged by lethal Diego Costa who has scored three times against the Saints in this campaign. Chelsea wouldn't be Chelsea if they didn't make the occasional hash at defending, and another Spaniard Oriol Romeu tapped in from close range to nullify Hazard's early strike. It took a trademark header from big Gary Cahill on the stroke of half time to restore the one-goal advantage, something which was scarcely deserving after an unimpressive first 45 minutes.

Ballance Defies Hampshire

Mon, 24 Apr 2017 21:53:07 +0100

The revenge mission on the south coast against our recent conquerors of Hampshire did not exactly go according to plan. In the end, a comprehensively outplayed Yorkshire did quite well to escape with a draw. The occasion was another painful reminder of how flakey our top order batting appears to be. There was one glorious exception, as Gary Ballance, leading from the front, produced his best-ever match return of a whopping 311 runs, as he already accelerates halfway towards one thousand runs for the summer. Without the heroics of the captain, the visitors would have been soundly thrashed.
