Wed, 18 Jan 2017 08:29:30 +0000After the drama and undeniable spirit not to lose last week we all headed down the M4 for round 5 of the champions cup v Scarlets. Coming back to draw like that with 14 men doesn't happen every week - does it?
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 22:39:04 +0000FA Cup specialist Sam Vokes struck again to set the Clarets on their way to a fourth-round meeting with Bristol City as Burnley racked up another impressive Turf Moor win.
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 10:39:56 +0000Bath will be expected to deliver a coup de grace to Pau on Saturday. The club in the Pyreneean shadow has no hope of anything but pride from the fixture. They cannot even claim third place in the pool and have been bafflingly inconsistent in the tournament so far. Having begun brightly with a battling home defeat, they next failed to register even a single bonus point until taking Cardiff Blues to the wire last weekend. Tense tussles against the two leading teams have bracketed a limp capitulation in Cardiff and concession of 2 try bonuses to Bristol whom they gifted a total of 69 points. Their form is not just the usual French home and away disparity as Bristol beat them soundly at the Stade du Hameau. In the Top 14 they stand 11th, well clear of the relegation struggle but they do have an outside chance of finishing high enough to qualify for next season’s Champions Cup. Perhaps their laissez faire approach to some of their Challenge Cup ties shows the Top 14 to be their priority? Or- is it just some clichéd Gallic insouciance, and will they spring a surprise at the Rec on Saturday?
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 06:34:28 +0000Williams Martini Racing would finally confirm that Felipe Massa has agreed to re-join Williams on a one-year deal, coming out of retirement to replace Valtteri Bottas who the team has released to join Mercedes for the 2017 season.

Mon, 16 Jan 2017 20:52:57 +0000There was a distinctly optimistic air around Sale Sharks during the off-season. The team stuttered early on in the season, but victory against Leicester suggested that things were coming together.
Mon, 16 Jan 2017 10:39:40 +0000Quite why Craig Hignett failed at Pools is a bit of mystery. On paper he strengthened the squad and at the start of the season there was massive optimism but it just didn't happen.
Mon, 16 Jan 2017 15:22:57 +0000Marcos Alonso tripled his goals tally for his new club with a goal six minutes into each half. Adding to his lethal contribution was another rarity: a headed goal from little Pedro. Both Spaniards have not been without their critics, but they sure stepped up to the mark on an evening when the football world looked on to see if the runaway Premiership leaders could cope in the absence of the apparently injured Costa.
Mon, 09 Jan 2017 05:01:44 +0000Welcome to 2017 everyone. The club skipper Tom Abell will welcome you I am sure as will the rest of the squad who have all been stating their desire to get on with this season after having a good go at winning the CC1 for the first time last summer. What are the prospects and what are we in store for... so many years of promise that haven't delivered. Is this the one that will?

Thu, 05 Jan 2017 17:34:26 +0000India's most successful captain in both the limited over and Test format has called it quits on captaincy. He remains available for selection as a specialist wicketkeeper batsman. This is indeed very noble of him, as even now there is nobody who can fill his quite enormous boots as keeper/batsman in the limited format. Virat Kohli the logical succesor to Dhoni will be grateful that he has decided to ease the transition. Like his Test retirement, this has been a low-key affair that has kept the team's needs in mind. This sums up the man.

Thu, 22 Dec 2016 17:39:43 +0000Interestingly the voting period covered 8 Tests he played between September 2015 to September 2016... So the last 8 Tests against New Zealand and England were not even considered. The mind boggles to think that his numbers in the last 8 Tests are actually much better. Wow!!!
Wed, 21 Dec 2016 02:16:30 +0000With Technical Chief Pat Symonds confirmed as leaving the Williams team and with continued reports that Paddy Lowe will be leaving Mercedes to join Williams, as well as the uncertainty as to whether or not Valtteri Bottas will leave the team to be replaced by Felipe Massa, it is certainly turning out to be Williams' own silly season. This is not the best of situations as the team prepares for the 2017 F1 season, a season that will see some of the biggest changes in Formula One in recent times.
Sat, 17 Dec 2016 08:47:18 +0000Recent reports have the Williams team considering to allow Valtteri Bottas to leave the team to join Mercedes in 2017. But any such move would only be considered if an experienced driver could be found to replace him. This has seen Felipe Massa come into the picture. Is any decision regarding Valtteri becoming more of a financial decision with the Williams team gettting a reduction in the cost of their Mercedes engines. If the Williams team allows Valtteri to move to Mercedes is it going to be a decision that they live to regret?

Mon, 28 Nov 2016 10:07:42 +0000The final race of the 2016 Formula One season, the 2016 Abu Dhabi GP, would see Williams Martini driver Felipe Massa end his time in Formula One with a points scoring finish with a 9th place. For team-mate Valtteri Bottas his race would end in disappointment with a retirement with a suspension issue. The Williams Martini team would finish 5th in the Constructors Championship.
Sat, 26 Nov 2016 14:35:48 +0000The results of qualifying for the 2016 Abu Dhabi GP would see the Williams Martini team secure 10th and 11th. For Felipe Massa this would be his last qualifying session in Formula One so it was a great way to finish his carer ahead of his team-mate. Valtteri Bottas would finish in 11th and would have the choice of tyres for the strat of the race.
Sat, 26 Nov 2016 11:26:25 +0000After an encouraging start to the final practice session for the 2016 Abu Dhabi the results of the session was somewhat disappointing. Valtteri Bottas was able to keep in the top ten finishing in 9th but for team-mate Felipe Massa his session would see him down in 14th. His session was marked by a difficult qualifying simulation near the close of the session where he would spin as well as run wide seeing him drop down the times. Of more concern was the fact that both Force India cars were ahead of the Williams pair.
