This Is The Worst Protein To Eat In The Morning, According To A Nutritionist

2017-12-13T20:08:52Z

Waking up is not fun. We lack motivation and pep. Even if you’re a morning person (how the heck do you do it?), it’s important to fill your body with energy as the day begins. That means you need have a breakfast that contains protein. Are you eating the best or worst kind? Find out.   [Photos: Shutterstock]“A protein-packed smoothie is a good choice for breakfast on the go, but the worst protein to mix in is a protein powder loaded with unpronounceable ingredients, fillers and sugars,” says culinary nutrition expert, Andrea Wien.Making breakfast by scooping up some protein powder is totally convenient. But making healthy choices really doesn’t take that much more time. Wien asserts that some protein powders are legit and not chock full of preservatives, GMOs, allergens, soy, aspartame, saccharin, and artificial flavors. Whew, that’s a long list. “Be diligent about checking labels and making sure ingredients come from a good source and is sugar, soy and gluten-free,” she says. “Also watch out for whey or dairy-based protein powders, as many people will have trouble digesting them.”Some protein powders are so processed that your body won’t get any benefit at all. The smart protein choice for breakfast is an egg. It’s a natural source of not only protein, but anti-inflammatory omega-3s, vitamins and minerals as well. Waking up is not fun. The One Skincare Product You Should Never Use After Working Out, According To A Dermatologist

2017-12-14T00:38:39Z

A good workout (if you're doing it correctly) will have you working up a sweat. So naturally, showering and washing your face might be the first thing you do after working out. But, we must remember that the pores on our face are vulnerable after a workout. While it's important to wash off all of that sweat and bacteria post-workout, it's what you apply to your face that might not be such a good idea.   [Photos: Shutterstock]It is important to wash and moisturize your face after hitting the gym. But, because your pores are open after working out, it is best not to apply a cleanser or moisturizer with harsh ingredients that will clog your pores. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, you should opt for mild, oil-free products. "A mild, oil-free cleanser can remove bacteria that can lead to acne and prevent clogged pores without irritating your skin."It's also best to avoid cleansers and moisturizers that contain fragrance or preservatives as they can irritate the skin, especially while your pores are open. “I would never use a product with added fragrances,” says New York-based dermatologist Natalie Moulton-Levy, MD. “Heavily scented products often irritate the skin and can contribute to allergic reactions in some cases.” Should this discourage you from your next workout? Absolutely not. In fact, working out is beneficial to skin health. "By increasing blood flow, a bout of exercise helps flush cellular debris out of the system," says dermatologist Ellen Marmur, MD. "You can think of it as cleansing your skin from the inside."   Good to know! Were you aware that the ingredients in your skincare products were making your breakouts? Do Ketogenic Supplements Really Work? Here’s The Scoop On Exogenous Ketones

2017-12-13T23:35:38Z

It might sound too technical for its own good, but there’s really nothing simpler than the ketogenic diet — it more or less involves eating foods that are good sources of protein and fat and that have low amounts of carbohydrates. By replacing carbs with protein and higher fats than you may think are necessary on any diet, what you’re actually doing is teaching your body to use stored fat for energy. A diet filled with carbs, which contain refined sugars, spurs your body’s insulin and glucose levels to spike. In turn, your body relies on that glucose and insulin for energy and doesn’t use fat. So, what happens to all of that fat that isn’t being used? You probably already guessed — it gets stored and is not properly burned off for weight loss and more efficient, long-lasting energy. Conversely, a ketogenic diet forces your body into a state of ketosis, training it to survive with fewer carbs and releasing ketones from the breakdown of fats in the liver. There are hundreds of nutritious and delicious keto diet recipes for weight loss, which include meals like salmon, egg muffins, and even chocolate and coconut bar desserts. But ketogenic supplements, which are also known as exogenous ketones, are incredibly popular, despite a lack of information on what you can — and shouldn’t — expect from them. So, let’s break down keto supplements. Here are four facts to keep in mind before you start taking them. 1) Exogenous Ketones Aren’t Weight Loss Pills Ketogenic supplements aren’t going to provide a quick and easy weight loss solution designed to replace an actual keto diet. Instead, these supplements help the body achieve a state of ketosis in which it begins using fatty acids as energy instead of glucose and insulin. There is no guarantee that you will lose weight simply because you’ve started taking pills. Supplements can only enhance the results you’re getting from carefully following a keto diet plan and incorporating cardio and strength training into your lifestyle. 2) Supplements Could Help Ward Off Some Unpleasant Side Effects Of The Keto Diet When your body enters ketosis and you’ve made that drastic switch from a carb-heavy or moderate diet to one that’s stripped of refined sugar, you may experience a few really unpleasant (short term) side effects. These can include bad breath, low energy, headaches, fatigue, and even bloating. Taking keto supplements may help reduce these symptoms and make your transition period more comfortable. 3) Combining Keto Supplements With A Non-Keto Diet May Not Work There’s little information out there about the effect you can expect from combining ketogenic supplements with a non-keto diet that includes carbohydrates. Since these pills help the body into a state of ketosis, combining that state with carbs could prove a waste of time. 4) Raspberry Ketones Are Not Keto Supplements A few years ago raspberry ketone supplements had a major moment. This ingredient, which is sometimes used in fat loss supplement, is not a ketone. [...]

9 Reasons Why You Should Never Drink Powerade, Like, Ever

2017-12-12T22:31:00Z

Powerade is one of the most popular sports drinks for athletes. "Athletes who exercise and sweat for more than 60 minutes can benefit from [Powerade's] carbohydrates, electrolytes and vitamins, which help aid in hydration and energy," according to Livestrong. But, that doesn't mean that Powerade is the best choice out there. Here's why health experts say you should ditch the Powerade and find a new way to hydrate:    [Photos: Shutterstock]1. It's loaded with sugar One 20 fl oz. bottle of Powerade contains 34 grams of sugar, according to its nutrition facts. If you're having Powerade and not working out for more than 60 minutes, you're adding an unnecessary amount of sugar to your diet.    2. It can lead to weight gain Having alll of that sugar without effectively working it off can lead to a considerable amount of weight gain. It can also cause your teeth to decay, too! You'd be better off by having a bottle of water instead...   3. There's a lot of sodium in there, too!  Not only do you have to be on the lookout for sugar, but you should also be aware of the sodium content in each serving of Powerade. One 20 fl oz. bottle can have 150-250 milligrams of sodium! 4. Powerade has sneaky serving sizes Depending on the bottle size, you could be given at least 2 servings of Powerade. Considering how much sugar, sodium and carbohydrates there are, you could really be doing some damage to your waistline.   5. Drinking too many electrolytes can have negative effects Powerade is a great drink for those who are exercising for long periods of time and need to replenish their electrolytes. But if you're not active, you could be at risk for developing hypernatremia, which is caused from having too much sodium in the blood. Symptoms include dizziness when changing positions, vomiting and diarrhea.    6. It also can lead to consuming excessive amounts of magnesium According to Livestrong, magnesium transports other electrolytes across your cell membrane. But, having too much magnesium can cause muscular and neurological damage. Make sure you're having plenty of water when drinking Powerade to ensure that you're consuming magnesium in moderation. 7. Too much Powerade can lead to high blood pressure All of that sodium can really take a toll on your body, especially when it comes to your blood pressure. Having too much salt in the diet can lead to high blood pressure and cause heart attacks and strokes, according to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.   8. It can cause high blood sugar, too! Most athletes need to replenish their sugar after working out, so they turn to Powerade to do so. But if you're having it without exercising, drinking too much sugar can lead to high blood sugar in the cells, which can be dangerous, according to Livestrong.    9. It gets its color and taste from some pretty unhealthy ingredients Powerade contains sucralose, acesulfame K, and artificial colors. Sucralose has been linked to dizziness, migraines, and blurred vision, while artificial colors have been linked to cancer![...]Powerade is one of the most popular sports drinks for athletes. The One Hair Gel You Should Stop Using, According To Experts

2017-12-13T18:33:07Z

Hair gel is a popular beauty product that many of us use to groom and style our hair. It's a great product if you’re looking to stiffen your hair and created a sleek, molded style. According to David Deutsch, MD, a hair restoration surgeon, hair gel and hair spray are not directly associated to hair loss or hair thinning. However, there are ingredients used in popular brands that you still want to avoid for your overall hair and scalp health!    [Photos: Shutterstock]According to dermatologist Dr. Sejal Shah, “Alcohol is often found in hair care products, but it can be drying to hair, especially if at high concentrations.” There are plenty of great hair gels on the market that are alcohol-free, like L'Oreal's EverStyle Strong Hold Defining Gel. This gel offers a strong and style hold without the drying effects of alcohol!  If your hair gel contains any greasers, it may be bad news for your strands. "Steer clear of 'lanolin, petroleum and mineral oil,'” hair specialist and restoration surgeon Dr. Robert Dorin advises. “They weigh down thin hair, preventing natural oils from being absorbed.”The purpose of hair gel is to make you hair stiff, not to make it smell nice! Experts say that the fragrances and perfumes used in hair gel could really be doing a number on your hair! "Fragrances are used for aesthetic reasons, but they may be irritants," says Dr. Dorin. We recommend trying Free & Clear's Hair Styling Gel next time. It's a great hair gel option that is dermatologist-recommended and alcohol, fragrance and lanonlin-free!    Were you shocked to find that your hair gel contains ingredients that are actually bad for your hair? The One Drugstore Deodorant You Should Start Using, According To A Dermatologist

2017-12-13T17:22:50Z

We use deodorant every day, so you want to make sure that the one you’ve chosen contains healthy ingredients that won’t harm or irritate your skin. But sometimes finding the right deodorant can be tough, especially if you’re shopping in a drugstore that’s filled with a vast variety of brands. We found the one deodorant that dermatologists say we should all start using. It’s natural, affordable and perfect for every underarm!   [Photos: Shutterstock]Tom's of Maine Long Lasting Deodorant is made without artificial fragrance and preservatives and provides 24-hour odor protection, allowing you to feel fresh and clean throughout the day. This deodorant stick is also free of harmful ingredients like aluminum, too!    Tom's Of Maine Long Lasting Deodorant ($3.99)So, why is it so important for your deodorant to be made with natural ingredients? Dr. Jessica Weiser, MD, of New York Dermatology Group, says its because your underarm area is extremely sensitive and prone to irritation if exposed to harsh products. "Above all, underarms should be treated gently, as the skin in that area is very sensitive and easily irritated," Dr. Weiser tells Refinery29.    She also suggests avoiding deodorants that are alcohol-based as they can cause your hair follicles to build up, which then leads to ingrown hairs that make your underarm area darken overtime. When this occurs, Dr. Weiser says you should use deodorants that are designed to sooth irritation to prevent further discoloration -- which you can find in Tom's deodorant sticks. The brand uses organic aloe barbadensis leaf juice to soothe your underarms and helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil to moisturize them! Hopefully these tips help make your next trip to the deodorant aisle stress-free!   Are there any other natural deodorants that you swear by? 4 Social Media Apps You Should Delete From Your iPhone Right Now (Say It Ain’t So)

2017-12-13T14:45:35Z

If social media is taking up most of your time and taking you away from the moment (not to mention your work obligations), it may be time for a change. Deleting these four social media apps is going to be painful (we have to admit), but doing so will give back in a few major ways — including when it comes to restoring your phone’s battery and storage capacities and reducing your stress levels.   Photos: ShutterstockTalk about a drain on your iPhone battery. The Facebook app is undoubtedly the number one (or two or three) killer of your battery power and deleting it will instantly help your phone run longer and more efficiently. Getting rid of the app and accessing Facebook via browser will also save you the annoyance of dealing with constant notifications, which creates stress and the burden of having to respond to messages instead of attending to the life right in front of you. It’s an incredible source of entertainment and we can spend hours trying out new filters on our photos and viewing friends’ snaps, but that’s the exact reason you might be rethinking Snapchat and whether having constant access to it is a good thing. Sure, you’ll save battery power by deleting Snapchat, but the benefits go beyond even that. If you’re finding the app is making you compare your looks or lifestyle to others and you’re absorbed in this fantasy world created by Snapchat users, getting rid of it can be beneficial to your metal health and happiness.Instagram is a kinder, gentler social media app (for the most part). A place where you can relax, view a few pretty pics, reply with a emoji, and move on with your life. But IG is also sapping your phone of battery, storage, and data. Deleting the app will help restore your phone back to life, but let’s say that seems like the nuclear option and you’re not ready for that step — there are a few things you can do to limit the power Instagram sucks from your device. Start by deleting photos that Instagram automatically stores on your phone after you’ve posted them. Nest, turn off notifications by going to profile > options > push notification. Finally, limit the data IG uses by accessing options > cellular data use > use less data.Yet another sucker of battery life and storage, deleting Twitter on your iPhone will do wonders for your device, but it could also keep you from losing your positive nature. The social media app is rampant with trolls and the overall feeling you might get from scrolling through content, especially political tweets, is a negative one. Staying informed is one thing — and, in many cases, Twitter provides up-to-the-moment news that has yet to be posted on news sites. But becoming involved in a cycle of destructively negative posts and thinking does little to contribute to overall happiness. If social media is taking up most of your time and taking you away from the moment (not to mention your work obligations), it may be time for a change. Don’t fret! This season affects us all in many different ways. But if you just aren’t feeling the holiday cheer, the you may want to try some of these simple ways to boost your mood this winter. 1.Work out your bad mood. Go ahead and get an early start on that New Year’s resolution, and try exercising when you feel yourself going to a negative head space. A blast of endorphins will do you a world of good! 2.Brighten up your wardrobe. If you’re anything like me, then black is probably a staple in your winter wardrobe. I mean it’s always fashionable and looks slimming, but that dark color may also be dragging down your mood. Stock your closet some selections that have calming colors to brighten up your day. 3.Do your spring cleaning now. With Christmas coming up, you may find yourself surrounded by a lot of clutter, which can lead to anxiety. So free up some space in your apartment (and your mind!) by getting rid of the unnecessary items that are crowding you. 4.Give yourself a little treat. Food can be a major pick-me-up, so treat yourself to a little chocolate, cinnamon or mint treat, as all of these have been known to have positive boost on moods. Plus, they’re delicious, too! 5.Install some mood lighting. Swap out those old, dull lights with bulbs that give off a warmer vibe. A less harsh lighting could be all you need to change your attitude. [Photo: Shutterstock] [...]

The keto diet, or low carb diet, consists of ketogenic foods that contain high amounts of protein and fat, with a low number of carbs thrown in for good measure. We know that simple carbohydrates produce insulin and glucose in the body and that when we use these (in place of fat) as energy, our bodies get the message that they should store all of that fat we don’t need . The reverse happens when we start swapping carbs for protein and fat. Our bodies go into a state of ketosis and we produce ketones that break down fats and help our metabolisms function at a higher rate. The greatest thing about the keto diet is that it doesn’t force you to starve your body into submission. Recipes like these four ketogenic meals and desserts are satisfying, delicious, and will help you burn more fat. The Scary Reason Why You Should Never Order A Breakfast Sandwich From Chick-fil-A, Like, Ever

2017-12-12T21:30:34Z

Healthy breakfasts call for protein-packed ingredients that will give your body the fuel it needs to burn calories throughout the day. A great way to add some protein to your mornings is to eat eggs -- but, not if they're from Chick-fil-A! The chain uses preservatives and additives to make the eggs on their breakfast menu and they're not good for you OR your waistline.    [Photos: Shutterstock]Forbes reporter David DiSalvo investigated the eggs used at popular fast food chains and found that most of them use a slew of preservatives and additives to maintain their eggs' signature color, taste and texture. When it came to Chick-fil-A, DiSalvo found that they add the preservatives citric acid and tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) to their eggs.  Overconsuming citric acid can lead to some pretty alarming health issues, including tooth decay and the erosion of tooth enamel. Yikes!    [Photo: Chick-fil-A]DiSalvo also pointed out that most of the preservatives used in fast food eggs can also be found in common household and beauty products. For example, the preservative TBHQ, which is used in the eggs to protect vegetable oils from oxidation, is also found in certain varnishes, lacquers, and perfumes.    This preservative is also used to make Subway's egg omelet patty, according to Forbes. Not to mention, they also use dImethylpolysiloxane, a type of silicone that's found in Silly Putty and certain lubricants, and calcium silicate, which is a sealant used on roads, roofs and concrete.    [Photos: Instagram]Chick-fil-A also uses palm kernel oil in their eggs, which is roughly made up of 50% saturated fat. "It contains more saturated fats than palm oil and is very commonly used in commercial cooking since the higher saturated fat content allows for greater stability at higher temperatures and better shelf life," according to Dr. Mike Roussell. If you're in a pinch and have to get your breakfast from Chick-fil-A, we recommend ordering the Egg White Grill sandwich. It calls for freshly-cracked egg whites and lean grilled chicken, which offers 25 grams of protein! To make it even healthier, you can opt to have it without American cheese.    Were you shocked to find that Chick-fil-A uses preservatives in their eggs? The One Hair Brush You Should Stop Using For Thinning Hair, According To Experts

2017-12-13T01:35:43Z

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, "It’s normal to shed between 50 and 100 hairs a day. When the body sheds significantly more hairs every day, a person has excessive hair shedding." There are tons of reasons why women may experience thinning or shedding hair (depression, hormones, genetics, poor diet, etc.) and there are many ways to prevent it -- and one of them starts with the type of hair brush you use!   [Photos: Shutterstock]A coarse hair brush with synthetic bristles is the one hair brush you want to avoid if you have thinning hair. ''Squeeze the brush,'' says Dr. Robert Walther, assistant professor of dermatology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. ''If it hurts, the edges are too sharp.''   Excessive brushing with this type of brush can prove to be "deleterious," as it will lead to hair loss, according to Dr. John F. Romano, attending dermatologist at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. "Any sort of traction on the hair, including curling it tightly or brushing your hair wet while blow-drying, is the cause for what is known as temporal alopecia, a medical term for baldness. It is very common now," he says. Yikes! Instead, experts say that your should opt for a soft hair brush made for those with fine hair. “It’s the gentlest brush possible and has soft, natural bristles," says Dove hair stylist Cynthia Alvarez. "Its cushion setting allows for more flexible bristles so as not to pull any hair out."The way you brush your hair is also important in preventing further hair loss. For thin hair, brush softly and gently to prevent pulling out more hair. "Even if you use the best brush, vigorous brushing can remove layers of your hair's protective outer cuticle—and this can weaken strands and make them more vulnerable to damage from other things, such as daily styling, UV rays, and color processing," says trichologist (hair and scalp dermatologist) Anabel Kingsley.Last but not least, for thinning hair, you must take it easy on the heat. According to dermatologist Debra Jaliman, MD. "It needs a lower setting," she says, "otherwise it can, quite literally, fry and break."   If you're looking for longer and stronger hair, check out the one vitamin you should take for longer hair at SheFinds.com[...]According to the American Academy of Dermatology, "It’s normal to shed between 50 and 100 hairs a day. The One Anti-Inflammatory Protein You Should Have Before 8 AM To Get Rid Of Belly Fat, According To A Nutritionist

2017-12-12T22:19:07Z

A good morning starts off with a good breakfast. And a great breakfast would be one that helps you shed belly fat. No problem! Stick with a regular exercise routine, eat mindfully and add this anti-inflammatory protein to your morning menu.   [Photos: Shutterstock]"The best foods to eat at breakfast are high in protein and good fats, which keep your blood sugar steady and provide energy from nutrient-dense sources that will keep you satiated,” says culinary nutrition expert, Andrea Wien. The best breakfast option that meets these standards is the egg.“The egg is a nearly perfect food and it's a powerhouse in terms of nutrition, clocking in at 7 grams of protein plus a good dose of vitamins, minerals and anti-inflammatory omega-3s,” she says. There was a time medical experts warned us about the negative effects of eating too many eggs, but the story has changed. “We now know that dietary cholesterol isn't harmful to our health and that cholesterol is actually necessary to keep our cells functioning optimally,” says Wien. So if you want to eat eggs every day, go for it! Give your eggs healthy pizazz by serving them over whole grain toast with slices of avocado and a sprinkle of flax seeds. Or add them to a quinoa protein bowl with spinach, sweet potatoes and black beans. A good morning starts off with a good breakfast. And a great breakfast would be one that helps you shed belly fat. The One Deodorant You Should Stop Using, According To Experts

Deodorant: We use this product every day, but do you actually know what's in it? This essential skincare product promotes good hygeine and prevents armpit odor. Antiperspirants, on the other hand, prevent odor AND sweat. No matter which one you use, you should check its ingredients to make sure it doesn't contain THESE potentially harmful ingredients.   [Photos: Shutterstock]Yes, deodorants are meant to stop odors. But that doesn't mean you should add fragrances to stop those odors. "Fragrance" and "perfume" are vague terms and experts say there's no way of telling what they really are. “It could be phthalates, or it could be substances that cause allergies or skin irritation,” says Heather Patisaul, Ph.D., an associate professor of biology at North Carolina State University.   We recommend sticking to scentless deodorants to stay on the safe side! Although there is little conclusive evidence proving that parabens in skincare products are harmful, there is some concern about the chemical. “There’s estrogen-sensitive tissue in the breast, so the worry is that if you put parabens close to this tissue every day, they may promote the growth of cancer cells,” Patisaul says.Aluminum is a soft, silver-white earth metal that is found in most antiperspirants. Again, while there is little conclusive evidence that aluminum is toxic in deodorant, there are some serious concerns about it causing gene instability. “Over 50% of breast cancers start in the upper outer quadrant of the breast local to the underarm region," says Philippa Darbre, an oncologist at the University of Reading in the U.K.So, should you stop wearing deodorant altogether? Absolutely not. Instead, opt for natural deodorants or antiperspirants that are free of fragrance, parabens and aluminum so you can avoid these potentially harmful ingredients! Deodorant: We use this product every day, but do you actually know what's in it? Eyeliner, brow gel, highlighter–I’m good. But for some reason, finding a foundation that feels good on my skin, looks natural and actually matches my skin tone has proven virtually impossible. Then the most amazing NARS package came across my desk. Truth be told, I’m always beyond ecstatic to receive anything from NARS, but this one was especially delightful because it was filled with, yup you guessed it, foundation! The new Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in all 33 shades to be exact. I’ve always heard pretty amazing things about NARS’ foundations and concealers, but for whatever reason never got around to actually trying one, so I jumped right in. First, to find a color–or combination of colors–that suited my complexion. With 33 shades to choose from, I was pleasantly surprised to find a color that matched my skin tone almost perfectly (Valencia, in case you’re wondering). Even better, though, this foundation feels incredible on the skin. It is ridiculously lightweight and blends in so easily with just a few swipes. I’m one of those women that like my skin to look and feel like skin, just more even, and this foundation does just that. It creates a smooth, even complexion without looking or feeling like you’re wearing full face makeup. The absolute best part about this foundation, however, is how long it lasts! Jenner was just ten years old when the first episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians aired in 2007. Needless to say, a lot has changed in fourteen seasons of KUWTK, and Kylie is all grown up. In fact, Kylie, 20, is now an entrepreneur with her own cosmetic line Kylie Cosmetics by Kylie Jenner. The star also owns The Kylie Jenner Shop, where she sells Kardashian-inspired phone cases, hoodies, bikinis, jewelry and more. What has changed drastically about Jenner, however, is her appearance —  including her boobs! Though they have not been confirmed yet, rumors have surface that Jenner is pregnant with her first child. Could this be the reason Kylie’s boobs have gotten huge!? Check out some of Kylie Jenner’s hottest Instagram posts from this year below: Jenner’s boobs look HUGE in this white, midriff blouse. She can be seen wearing her very own Lip Kit in color “Mary Jo.”The twenty-year old looks amazing here in a white, t-shirt bodysuit and corset.Jenner shows off her boobs in this deep-V, long-sleeved sating mini dress. Just a few months ago, TMZ broke the news that Kylie Jenner was allegedly pregnant with rapper Travis Scott’s baby. The the rumors have not been confirmed, but many speculate that’s how Jenner’s boobs have gotten so big. Kylie shows off her boobs in this risqué lingerie selfie. Kylie Jenner is not slowing down! According to Bazaar, Jenner plans to launch a new line of lipsticks tomorrow (Dec. 13). Kylie Cosmetics is graduating from “Lip Kits” (a duo of lip liners and liquid lipsticks and glosses) and coming out with tubed lipsticks in 20 different shades of nudes, pinks, reds, browns and more. On top of the lipstick launch, according to Teen Vogue, she is also planning on dropping a line of concealers in 30 different shades on December 13. “I can’t believe I actually get to reveal to you guys my 30 concealers today, the first time I’ve ever done concealers,” she said over a video of the concealers. “I wear these every single day.” The beauty mogul also just launched a pop-up truck that was spotted in L.A. last week, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “The youngest member of the Kardashian/Jenner clan was not at the wheel, but that didn’t stop about 100 fans from forming a line in front of the pink truck,” Hollywood Reporter says. The truck featured this year’s Kylie Cosmetics holiday collection, lip kits, lipsticks, lip liners, Kylighters, Ultaglows, palettes and accessories, including panties, socks, and hats from the Kylie Shop. Items were displayed on the front of the truck for viewing, but customers had to order the items they wanted at the window.” Keep checking Kylie Jenner’s social media announcements to see if the truck will be in a city near you! 18 Wedding Dress Trends That Are Going To Be HUGE In 2018

2017-12-12T20:14:42Z

Shopping for your wedding gown is definitely one of the most exciting (if not the most exciting) parts of the wedding planning process. Every year sees a slew of new trends and styles, and 2018 is no exception. We asked wedding pros to share what they think will be the hottest bridal looks for the coming year and we weren't dissapointed!   These are the top 18 wedding dress trends that are going to make a big splash in 2018.   [Photos: Shutterstock]Wedding gowns with black detailing are going to be the trend for 2018. Dawn Stafford of Gathering Souls, says, "If you’re daring enough, a black wedding gown will seal the deal in our sophistication."Think pearl embellishments are a dated choice? This upcoming bridal season seems determined to bring them back, according to Jessica Chen of WeddingDresses.com. "Not only are pearl accessories back in a big way, with strings of pearls draped around necks, but pearl beading has also been used to add texture to otherwise bland dresses, creating a more nuanced look for the all-white wedding frock."Designer Mimi Tran says that traditional wedding gown designs are getting a bold and daring twist in 2018, all thanks to the deep v-neck trend.Although bows on dresses have been around for the past few years, it’s not hard to see why this elegant trend is so popular. "Not only will statement bows that adorn the shoulders, waists, or sleeves draw attention to the parts of the body you would like to show off most, they will also help bring out your ladylike side on your special day," says Chen. It’s all about the layers for 2018, says Lindsey Bennett, Lead Designer at Azazie.com. "Skirts that feature tiered organza and tulle skirts with horsehair trim are the design of choice for the year. Adding horsehair gives the skirt shape and fun subtle detail."Many brides will be breaking away from traditional wedding gowns by wearing ivory and white jumpsuits and pantsuits in all fabrics and styles, says designer Dalia MacPhee.A major trend for 2018 are form-fitting--yet comfortable--pure white wedding dresses made with beautiful fabrics such as silk or satin. When embellished with lace, these dresses can be a fun way to be sexy and classy on your wedding day, according to Alice Bil of studioEPIC photography."Brides are tossing the veil to the side and empowering their walk down the aisle with gorgeous capes that seem to perfectly frame their look. Whether superhero or royalty, she's bound to look like a fierce crusader," says Sarah Duckworth, Chancey Charm Charlotte Wedding Planner. A profusion of feathers adorns much of the 2018 wedding dress collections, resulting in a romantic look in which fantasy meets reality, says Stafford.Sleeves are making a dramatic return--especially with the royal wedding coming up, says Bennett. "We’ve seen everything from classic cap sleeves, to the more trendy bell and poet sleeves that create romantic movement. Many brides opt for illusion sleeves to add a lighter finish to their wedding looks."Lace is romantic and sexy, yet concealing enough to wear at church. This popular fabric usually has some stretch to it, so that the bride can move easily and be comfortable throughout the day--and into the night, says Bil.2018 brides are switching things up when it comes to the length of their dresses. Expect to see some mid-length dresses (above or at ankle) and above the knee looks, says MacPhee."I also have noticed a mixture of materials us[...]

The One Beauty Trend That Will Be Out For 2018

You were with Kylie Jenner throughout it all — tracking her sold-out matte nude lip shades and heading over the Colour Pop to fuel up on their version of the matte — shades that look perfectly blotted without any help from a tissue. And you probably knew, somewhere in the back of your mind, that all trends eventually fizzle out and die — but not these super hydrating and modern mattes, right? It looks like the time has come for us to bid farewell to matte as the number one hot lip trend — it’s one beauty trend that’s on its way out in 2018. That doesn’t mean you have to run and chuck our every matte lipstick you own (which is relief because some of those babies cost a pretty penny). There’s still a place for mattes at the lipstick table, but we spoke with Ashlee Glazer, Laura Geller Global Artistic Director, about the newest lip trends and how to modernize your matte so that it looks fresh and current. 1. Creamy Formulas And Glosses Will Reign Supreme Not only were spring 2018 runways filled with models sporting lighter, glossier lips, but new creamy lipsticks and glosses are being offered by some of our favorite brands. From Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb, which is the most gorgeous shade of shimmery nude, to Kim Kardashian’s KKW Beauty Holiday Beam Lipgloss, already we can see that two celebs who routinely kill it while wearing matte shades are open to something different. “Matte lipstick is a timeless texture that will always have a place in our hearts,” Glazer says. “If you splurged on the matte trend and don’t know what to do — it’s not totally over, but glossy and creamy lips are making a comeback as well.” Some of Glazer’s favorite new glosses and creamy formulas include Laura Geller Color Luster Hi Def Top Coats, which she calls “shimmery and sheer and the perfect layering finish for a glossy lip” and Smith & Cult, which has “beautiful creamy pigment in their lip glosses, and almost all are shimmer-free.” 2. Don’t Toss Your Matte Lipstick — Convert It There is a way to keep your matte lipstick and give it a slight tweak that will make it more modern and in line with the newer lip trends. And it’s a cheap fix, to boot, with a product you probably already have in your medicine cabinet. “Mix your matte lipsticks with a balm like Vaseline to create a creamy texture with the same beautiful color you love,” Glazer says. 3.  Transform Your Favorite Matte Into A Multitasking Product Most mattes are made with a thicker formula than creamy lipsticks and lip gloss. And while this thickness can have a tendency to make lips feel dry when worn as a lipstick, it can work wonders as a lip liner. “Use the matte lipsticks as a liner and [here’s a] longwear layering tip: apply with a brush as you would use a lip liner to shape and define the lip, and then apply y[...]

Once And For All, Here’s How To Heal Dry, Cracked Lips #SheFindsSoutions

2017-12-12T19:46:58Z

Cold weather is generally rough on skin, but the harsh temps are even worse on sensitive areas like the lips. That’s why a lot of us find ourselves dealing with super dry and flaky, cracked lips around this time, which is no fun at all! But what’s a girl to do? Well, there are actually a few little tweaks you can make that will help you heal and prevent dry, cracked lips in no time. 1.Keep hydrated. Get in the habit of drinking those eight glasses of water a day because dehydration may be the cause of your dry lip problems. 2.Don’t forget to apply lip balm (and often!). Listen up. Do not walk out of your house without putting on some type of lip balm or lip ointment. After all, these moisturizing balms form a barrier that protects you from the cool winds. But applying once just won’t do. Make sure you are applying throughout the day to lock in moisture. 3.Try using nourishing oils. In addition to store bought lip balms, you can also use coconut oil to help heal your dry lips by using several times per day. 4.Go for a natural remedy. A trick that you could try on a weekend afternoon is to use honey to help heal lips. Just apply throughout the day as if it were a regular lip balm. [Photo: Shutterstock] [...]

9 Reasons Why You Should Never Drink Sprite, Like, Ever

2017-12-11T21:26:46Z

There's nothing quite like a refreshing glass of Sprite. The lemon-lime soda beverage has become a popular drink for its sweet and fizzy taste, but health experts say that it's actually responsible for causing negative effects on your body. We took a deep dive into its ingredients list and found that Sprite is made with some unhealthy preservatives that can lead to a slew of health diseases. Here's why you should take a break from Sprite:   [Photos: Shutterstock]1. There are preservatives in it Just because Sprite is colorless and caffeine-free doesn't mean that it's a healthy drink. Preservatives like sodium citrate, sodium benzoate and high fructose corn syrup are responsible for its delicious taste.    2. There are carbohydrates in Sprite?  One can of Sprite has 38 grams of carbohydrates, according to its nutrition facts. That's not all; you can also find 38 milligrams of sugar in there, too!    3. Drinking too much Sprite can lead to tooth decay Excessive citric acid intake can cause tooth enamel erosion, which will eventually lead to tooth decay. 4. Sprite can lead to irritation and hives Like citric acid, consuming too much sodium benzoate can cause health problems, like irritation in the mouth and hives!   5. It can also cause DNA damage, too!  Sodium benzoate is derived from petroleum, which has been linked to DNA damage and neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.    6. The sodium in Sprite isn't good for you either One can of Sprite contains 65 milligrams of sodium. Consuming an excessive amount of sodium can lead to high blood pressure and other scary health issues. 7. Sprite can even make you gain weight!  Sprite, and soda in general, can lead to weight gain in those who overconsume it. This weight gain can put you at greater risk for developing a wide range of health problems including type 2 diabetes and cancer!    8. Sprite has been linked to gout Gout is a type of arthritis that causes sudden swelling, stiffness and burning pain in certain joints, which is caused by having an excessive amount of uric acid in the blood. Yikes!    9. Why drink Sprite when there are healthier options out there?  If it's the fizzy lemon and lime flavor that you crave, know that there are healthier alternatives out there. We love IZZE Sparkling Juice, which is preservatives-free and made without added sugar, caffeine and high-fructose corn syrup.   [...]There's nothing quite like a refreshing glass of Sprite.
