3 Things You Never Knew About Ordering At In-N-Out, According To An Employee

2017-01-18T20:22:58Z

Some fast food employees are pretty unhappy, but not In-N-Out ones. People who work at the beloved burger chain seem to be just as jazzed about their jobs as the rest of us are about Animal Style burgers. According to Reddit AMA ("Ask Me Anything") threads we dug up, being an In-N-Out employee involves giving out free shakes, getting paid well and serving up pretty much anything customers want--on or off the secret menu.   Click to find out what incredible secrets these In-N-Out employees had for ordering there. It's not on the menu or even the secret menu, but a Level 7 employee with the company for over a decade explains, "We have what we call a Veggie. It is not an actual patty, simply a bun with spread and whatever veggies you want. They're actually delicious." Someone should tell the people behind this petition."We can pretty much do anything the customer asked," a Level 4 associate wrote in this Reddit thread. There are a few notable exceptions, though: "We absolutely can't... [place] fries on your burgers." Hm, that's odd. What's the second? Monkey Style! "It doesn't exist it never will. When you order monkey style the associate taking your order screams internally," he explains. LOL! "Hipster bloggers are pretty much going to be the death of us, with their made up menu items. It's supposed to be an animal style burger with animal style fries on the inside. It'll never happen. Ever."According to the Level 4, In-N-Out employees are allowed to give out freebies, such as their famous shakes, all in the name of keeping customers happy (it's just that kind of place!). He writes, "We're told that we have the power to do whatever to make the customer happy. I go above and beyond. I'm always doing extra s*** for customers especially if it's slow and I'm bored."READ MORE: Photos Of Celebrities Chowing Down On Fast FoodSome fast food employees are pretty unhappy, but not In-N-Out ones. The One Appetizer You Should Never Order At Chain Restaurants, According To Chefs

2017-01-18T18:58:55Z

You're starving and you finally get seated at the restaurant. What's the first thing you do? Order a round of appetizers, of course. Most of us order appetizers without thinking. However, there are a few appetizers you should always avoid. These dishes can either be a bad value or dangerous to your health. Click to find out what foods your shouldn't order before your meal.   [Images: Shutterstock] Unless you're eating at a seafood restaurant or somewhere that specializes in shellfish, you should avoid ordering oysters. Bad oysters can make you sick. You always want to double check that the restaurant has sourced the oysters fresh from their supplier.   The quality of oysters also depends on the time of year. You may have heard the "r-month rule" before, which basically says that you should avoid eating oysters in a month that doesn't have an "r" in it. Rowan Jacobsen, author of The Geography of Oysters and oysterguide.com, told Buzzfeed, “I basically inadvertently follow the r-month rule because they never taste good in the summer. To be safe, stick to ordering oysters in cold months.According to The Huffington Post, edamame is also a bad appetizer to order. This is because Japanese restaurants pay about two dollars for a whole pound of edamame. All the restaurant has to do is steam the beans and add some salt. They make an easy profit, but it's a bad value for the customer.Bad news: Guacamole is also a huge ripoff. According to Forbes, restaurants pay about fifty cents to a dollar for a single avocado, yet they charge up to $14 for a bowl of guacamole. In his book Kitchen Confidential, chef Anthony Bourdain tells readers, "I never order fish on Monday, unless I'm eating at a four-star restaurant where I know they are buying their fish directly from the source." This is because Most restaurants order in their fish on a Thursday. The quality of fish rapidly declines in quality after it's caught. By Tuesday, the fish is usally too spoiled to serve, but on Mondays, the resturaunt can usually get away with serving it.READ MORE: The Worst Time To Eat At A Restaurant, According To A WaiterYou're starving and you finally get seated at the restaurant. Shame on you @ivankatrump! Imitation is NOT the most sincere form of flattery. #aquazzura #ivankatrump Proud of mine #madeinitaly #italiansdoitbetter."   [Photo: Splash News]    People boycotted her clothing line, which is sold at Nordstrom and Macy's, after her father Donald Trump’s sexual misconduct allegations in 2016.    [Photo: Splash News]Controversy pretty much follows Donald Trump like a shadow. These Are The Best Boots To Wear When It Snows (They’re Not Snow Boots!)

2017-01-18T21:44:18Z

Snowy winter days are upon us. Therefore, we must abide by essential winter fashion rules: to always wear our stylish snow boots (duh!). The One Makeup Product You Should Never Wear In The Winter

2017-01-18T21:41:49Z

For me, putting on makeup can be therapeutic in a way. I’m sure if you’re a fellow makeup lover you would agree. You can jam out to your favorite song while enhancing your already stunning features, and the time of the year definitely is not going to change that.   [Photos: Shutterstock]    There is something that you should change with your makeup routine especially during the wintertime, though. The harsh conditions do call for a mini cosmetic adjustment. Don’t worry; you’re not altering your entire namaste moment, but rather switching out one product for another. Check out the next slides to see what I’m talking about.Lay off the powder foundation especially if you have dry skin. The foundation will make you thoroughly aware of how dry your skin really is. You will clearly be able to see flakes and trust me, that ain’t cute. Instead, go for a hydrating foundation or a light BB cream like this $6 one from e.l.f cosmetics. Also, avoid matte lipsticks. Sure, they look good, but do they really? If you haven’t been exfoliating the hell out of your lips then just don’t do it. Instead, opt for lipsticks with glossy finishes like this one from Lancome and you’ll avoid the ever-painful broken, bleeding lips in the wintertime. Need I say more? For more beauty tips, make sure to check out the one thing you should eat every night for clear skin and the one thing you should never put on bacne on SHEfinds. For me, putting on makeup can be therapeutic in a way. 2017-01-18T21:20:32Z

Losing weight is on everyone’s to do list this year and we know that sometimes slimming down alone can be a little frustrating (especially when you don’t have the necessary knowledge). Have no fear, though; SHEfinds is here to help you solve all of your weight loss problems.   It definitely does not come as a surprise that eating a diet rich in fruits, veggies and lean proteins is the ultimate way to a slimmer figure, but what are the worst foods to eat if you are looking to shed some pounds? Check out the next slides to find out.   [Photos: Shutterstock]Yogurt, especially, fruity ones, are packed with sugar, which equals weight gain. Some brands have as much as 26 grams of sugar in one cup. Talk about reversing the ab workout you just killed at the gym!Do your best to avoid the king of all salty foods: chips. Not only do they have high fat saturation, but you will also put on the pounds quickly. Researchers found that those who ate chips on a regular basis gained at least 1.69 pounds per day!Pancake syrup is one of the absolute worst things you can put in your body if you are trying to lose weight. It provides absolutely no nutrients, and you only end up craving more sweets. It’s a lose-lose situation.Refined carbohydrates, like bagels, will have you looking at the scale in absolute shock because they cause quick weight gain. According to this nutritionist, one bagel has the same amount of carbohydrates found in six slices of white bread. Say what? The worst part is all of those refined grains you just ate will turn into sugar, which will then turn into fat that will probably end up where we don’t want it to (our abdominals)!Stay away from white rice. White rice does not have much nutritional value and after eating it, it will leave you hungry and wanting more food! That’s when we tend to over-do it and gain the most weight.Losing weight is on everyone’s to do list this year and we know that sometimes slimming down alone can be a little frustrating (especially when you don’t have the necessary knowledge). The One Thing You Should Never Order At Subway, According To An Employee

2017-01-18T21:10:14Z

Subway's slogan is "eat fresh," so you'd expect to do just that when eating at one of their establishments, right? Well, according to employees of the fast food chain, that is the opposite of what happens when you order a particular sandwich. Find out which one-->   [Photo: Shutterstock]First things first, do not order any seafood or egg salad sandwiches. According to the fast food workers of Reddit, most are just imitation meat or bagged products with absurd amounts of mayo mixed in. But that's not the worst part about these meals, if you can believe it--->    [Photo: Instagram]    Reddit user tigers-in-circles writes, "Worked at Subway 2010-12. Only thing I have to say is that tuna and seafood packages used to have a label on it that said that it didn't contain dolphin or turtles in the meat, then that label suddenly disappeared in 2012." The One Dish You Should Never Order At A Restaurant, According To Waiters

2017-01-18T20:41:11Z

Restaurants are totally a good time, but having to choose between a multitude of fabulous food options just makes life 10 times harder (first-world problems, I guess). Sometimes figuring what the best dishes are may be a process of elimination.   [Photos: Shutterstock]Don’t order a steak well done. Any waiter will tell you that chefs are annoyed when customers order a steak that will turn out overcooked, bland and chewy.First, you need to know what you shouldn’t get. One item to avoid on the menu is the Kobe beef burger. Most chefs don't like to mince the world's most expensive meat into a burger. Check out the next slides to see what else may not be the best option to order at a restaurant. Unless you are headed to a specialty seafood restaurant, stay away from the oysters. These shellfish can make you sick if not eaten when fresh. The same goes for fish. A lot of restaurants order their fish on a Thursday. Only get fish as long as you know it’s fresh or as close to Thursday as possible. Celebrities Who Responded Back To Their Haters On Social Media

2017-01-18T20:16:20Z

Yesterday, Abigail Breslin sshared a photo to Instagram with Tiffany Trump. Almost immediately, nasty trolls came out of the woodwork to comment on the actress' post.   One user commented, "Whyyy feature the spawn of Satan in your photos!?" Another wrote, "Ok I’m not usually one to say anything but why is that scum rat in your life?" To be clear, these people were tearing apart Breslin for being associated with the Trump family, and Trump for having the same last name as the President-elect, despite what her own values might be. This is not OK.   Breslin decided to defend her friendship and stand up for Trump on both Twitter and Instagram. "Everyone commenting mean shit on my last insta, I have known Tiff for years," she tweeted. "She's a beautiful soul, and regardless of your political views, do not take it out on her, it is completely unfair …I would like to ask every single person on here how they'd feel if they were persecuted solely based on the actions of their parents."   On Instagram, she wrote, "To everyone who's being horrible and disgusting to me rn, I didn't vote for trump. It's none of anyone's business, but I didn't. However, it is honestly disgusting  of people to be so cruel about tiff who is a wonderful and kind person. If you're judging me for hanging out with someone I've known for years at our friends bday party, you need to reevaluate your life."   [Photo: Instagram]Last month, Kylie Jenner shared a video to Snapchat of sister Kendall Jenner with a seemingly fuller pout. Of course, people started calling out the model for getting plastic surgery.   While Kylie put an end to the speculation almost immediately by explaining that she simply over-lined her sister's lips, people still believed Kendall had lip injections.    Now Kendall is putting those rumors to rest once and for all. She took to her app to explain everything. "When I deleted my Instagram back in November, people were saying, 'Kendall deleted her account to have full facial reconstruction,'" she wrote. "I think they might have been referencing the day Kylie and I did a livestream for our book. We had to hurry, so I let Ky do my face. I never wear lip liner or lipstick unless it's the occasional obvious red—and when I say never, I mean even when I'm doing a nude lip, it's basically just gloss!"   She continued, "Anyway, I left all of the makeup on because we were so rushed and I went out and did my thing. I LOVED my makeup. I never say this, but I just felt so pretty. All of a sudden, photos of us came out with headlines like, 'OMG Kendall got her lips done and got full facial reconstruction—look at her cheekbones, look at her nose!' I was like, this is CRAZY. I didn't even address it at the time. Because if I address it, people are going to be like 'Oh, so she's defending herself—she must be guilty.' Kylie saw it all unfold and felt bad, so she went on Snapchat and took the blame."   She then pointed out that she's already a model, so why would she go under the knife? "It's all so exhausting. As a model, why would I have my face reconstructed? It doesn't even make sense," she said. "It's crazy because sometimes I feel like people just want me to lose."   Finally, she ended the post reminding people that she's a person too, "People forget that they're talking about real people who have real feelings and actually live their everyday lives (for the most part) just like everyone else."   [Photo: Splash News]Model/ actress Cara Delevingne, who is currently meeting South Sudan refugees in Uganda, was told by an Internet troll that she should get a real job.   Here's what went down. Cara posted on Twitter that she was nervous about something mysterious, which later turned out to be her trip to Uganda. Next thing you [...]

7 Cheap Skincare Products With Incredible Reviews And Reputations

2017-01-18T18:21:51Z

Everyone should be able to have beautiful, healthy skin — and, thanks to numerous affordable products on the market, flawless skin isn't just a pipe dream.   Whereas some makeup and hair products are prohibitively expensive (seriously, perfume, why must you always make me blow my beauty budget?), skincare runs the gamut from caviar-infused pricey to drugstore delightful. The biggest difference: some bargain skincare products are, time and time again, praised for their effectiveness and are considered just as good (or better) than their luxury-brand cousins.   These 7 cheap skincare products have stellar reviews and reputations — and they won't break the bank.   [Photo: Shutterstock]POND'S Cold Cream Cleanser ($8.79)   This soap-free cleanser scores mega points for its ability to remove all traces of makeup and oil without stripping the skin of moisture. The smell isn't overpowering and its formula is creamy and smooth, which makes it perfect for those of us with dry or sensitive skin. There's a reason why your grandmother and mom probably used Pond's — it works!Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser ($8.99)   Thousands of reviewers rate this cleanser as one of their all-time favorites because it is so gentle that even those of us who suffer from eczema can use it without fearing our skin will become irritated. It doesn't leave an oily residue on your skin, but won't strip it of vital moisture, either. It continues to be one of the most popular drugstore-brand light cleansers on the market. No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum Bottle ($25.49, down from $29.99)   Skincare serums are like magic potions in a bottle — if you get your hands on a good one, it can plump your skin, make fine lines less visible, and prevent further damage to your skin. But most serums will cost you a pretty penny, which is why it's so nice to read No. 7's many stellar reviews. Customers say that since they started using its non-greasy formula their skin appears more youthful, smooth, and supple. You won't detect an intense fragrance and a little goes a long way.St. Ives Timeless Skin Facial Moisturizer, Collagen Elastin ($6.99)   Customers with acne say this moisturizer helps keep their skin hydrated and free of blemishes — something that often feels like an impossible feat. And many older fans of the product claim they've been devoted to it for decades and that the proof of its effectiveness is in the number of compliments they get on their skin. You can't dream up a better endorsement.Queen Helene Masque Mint Julep ($4.99)   Blackheads are, hands down, our number one most stubborn skin enemy. But folks who have tried this incredibly affordable mask say it eliminates blackheads, shrinks whiteheads and pimples, and calms irritated acne-prone skin. Use it as a spot treatment or, if you have very oily skin, as a mask. The formula can be extremely drying, so anyone with sensitive skin may want to avoid this mask altogether or be prepared to slather on moisturizer. CoTZ Face Natural Skin Tone SPF 40 ($20)   This mineral sunscreen dries with a sheer matte finish. Customers say it can be worn alone with foundation — which is a total bonus — and that its non-greasy formula is ideal for oily skin. It won't make you look like a ghost, won't clog pores, and won't irritate your skin, even if you are allergic to the chemicals found in many other sunscreens.Tony Moly Strawberry Nose Pack (10 set for $15.98)   Korean skincare brands have moved past being trendy and are now an important addition to our everyday skincare routine. Anyone frustrated with traditional pore strips for blackheads should consider giving these sweet-smelling and utterly adorable strips a try. Reviewers say the three-step process involved [...]

Have no fear, though; SHEfinds is here to help solve all of your weight loss problems.   [Photos: Shutterstock]It definitely does not come as a surprise that too much sugar and salt are huge contributors to weight gain, but what are some drinks that can cause you to gain weight in your sleep? Check out the next slides to find out--->  Stay away from milk! Lactose can actually cause digestive issues when you are trying to hit the sack. Melania Trump’s Inauguration Designer Might Have Just Been Revealed–Who Is It?

2017-01-18T17:48:01Z

The question of whether or not to dress future First Lady Melania Trump is a major point of conflict within the fashion industry. Designers like Sophie Theallet, Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford have said they will not dress Trump, while others like Diane Von Furstenberg and Tommy Hilfiger are not opposed.    So who will dress Melania for Inauguration Day? Find out which two big name designers are rumored to be creating outfits for her.   [Photos: Splash News]One name making the rounds in the rumor mill is none other than Karl Lagerfeld.   While it is unclear whether or not Lagerfeld will be designing her day or night look, or whether it will be under the Chanel, Fendi or his own namesake brand's label, it is a huge win for Trump after facing much backlash from big names in the fashion industry.    In a very surprising move, Ralph Lauren is also rumored to be dressing Trump for her big day. While Lauren never formally endorsed Clinton, he did design the pantsuits she wore for all the presidential debates.   However, Melania wore his designs on the campaign trail too, including to the third and final presidential debate as well as on election night. She purchased both items herself.    It will be interesting to see how and if these two pave the way for other designers to dress the incoming First Lady. Find out facts you didn't know about Melania Trump here.   Check out more of Melania's fashion choices here. The question of whether or not to dress future First Lady Melania Trump is a major point of conflict within the fashion industry. 4 iPhone Apps That Will Make You Stronger

2017-01-18T16:26:19Z

You're always on your phone, right? So, why not use it to accomplish your fitness goals? (It can help you with the financial ones, too.) Simply download one of these addictive fitness apps, and you'll be crushing your New Year's resolutions faster than you can say squat thrust (but that was pretty fun to say, right?).   This is a highly-rated and positively reviewed app for getting off the couch and getting moving. Theoretically, it works for people who are already exercise junkies--but it's really a game changer for those who aren't. The free version of the app offers a thousand different workouts that require no equipment or skill level. This is a great app for finally sticking to those New Year's resolutions after years of falling short.   Get it now. If you're inspired by social, consider joining the Nike+ Run Club community to get fit. The app uses the GPS on your phone to track your workouts, then motivates you by telling you (in a computerized voice, kinda cool), when you've reach your goals or beat a previous record. It's straight forward and good for runners, walkers or cyclists. Friend other people with Nike+ profiles, see how they're crushing workouts and set goals against the community averages (i.e. Burn more calories than the people in your network).   Get it now. If you have a short-term fitness goal (say, wearing short shorts on spring break in March), you should try Just 6 Weeks. Take a quick test to evaluate your fitness level, choose a set of goals (options like 100 push-ups, 200 sit-ups or 20 pull-ups), then the app will create a training plan for you and evaluates you as you go. Pretty good for an app!   Get it now. If doing good inspires you, you have to download the Charity Miles app, which pairs advertisers with runners to raise money for worthy causes. For every mile you run, the app will generate money by displaying ads on the screen. It creates accountability for runners (track miles, see when you're on a good streak, more) and motivates them on a deeper level. You're a part of something much bigger than just a quick run in the park. Sounds pretty cool, right?   Get it now. READ MORE: The Best Time Of Day To Do Crunches For A Flat StomachREAD MORE: The One Thing You Should Do To Get A Flatter Stomach[...]You're always on your phone, right? Why You Shouldn’t Link Your iPhone Apps To Facebook, According To Experts

2017-01-18T01:20:03Z

You probably do it without thinking: You log into iPhone apps using your Facebook account. It's quicker and easier than creating a separate user name and password. It might be super convenient to log in with Facebook, but there are some serious security concerns with linking iPhone apps to Facebook. Click through the slideshow to see what tech experts have to save about why you shouldn't use FB to log into apps.   [Images: Shutterstock] Many apps ask users to login via their Facebook, which gives the app access to a number of permissions at the same time. You might be surprised at the type of information you are willingly sharing when you do this.   Lee Munson, security researcher for Comparitech.com, explains, "Considering the vast range of apps that may be linked to Facebook - from trip guides to dating services - it ought not to come as a surprise to learn that profiles are being shared, along with email addresses, dates of birth, location and relationship statuses."   Learn how to remove apps from Facebook for better privacy here. Mike Allton, Content Marketing Practitioner at The Social Media Hat, notes that there are several dangers to connecting your Facebook profile to a mobile app. He explains that you are potentially giving the app access to be able to post to your account on your behalf, sometimes without your knowledge or consent.   It gets worse. Allton explains, "What's more likely though is that certain apps will use that access to gather information about not just you, but your contacts as well, and use that inherent capability to contact and/or market to those individuals."Many Facebook users don't realize all the ways their information is scared through apps. According to Allton, "Seemingly innocuous apps use that access to collect tremendous amounts of categorical data from their Facebook profiles, turning it over to marketing research companies, which then use that data to conduct highly targeted ad campaigns."Tech expert and attorney James Goodnow suggests that users should elect to use 'privacy mode' in any app that they can in order to keep their data safe. Goodnow comments, "Privacy mode protects against a lot, but not all, of a consumer's information being collected. Total and complete privacy is really not 100% possible if you want to participate in social media. Apps like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, etc. (i.e., social media apps) collect data by default, so those should be avoided, especially if you have data privacy concerns."READ MORE: The Scary Reason You Shouldn't Join Your iPhone To Public WiFi, According To A Tech Expert[...]You probably do it without thinking: You log into iPhone apps using your Facebook account. 2017-01-17T17:43:22Z

This week, we're diving deep into the depths of Reddit to bring you some really eye-opening facts about your favorite fast food joints--straight from the mouths of employees. You wanted motivation to eat healthier, right? Isn't that's your New Year's resolution? Well, these facts should set you straight.   Today's edition features the one thing you should never order from America's beloved pizza delivery refuge Pizza Hut. I can guarantee that this answer will surprise you...The answer is the pizza (oh, gosh!).    According to a "Pizza Hut" manager who posted on this incredible thread, "Our dough are processed, frozen discs that we handle WITHOUT gloves. (When I say handle without gloves, I mean handle without washing hands.)…We also spray them with non-stick spray and oil the hell out of them. After that, we proof them and top them, again, with our bare hands. (Probably dirty) Sometimes the dough will be really old, 4-5 days at the max where it gets all shrively and sinks down into the pan. Oh, and our breadstick and pizza sauce are pretty much tomato paste in a plastic bag that we mixed with water."   Nooooooo! And just for a laugh, here are two other Reddit threads featuring Pizza Hut employees answering your burning questions. If you're a die-hard Pizza Hut fan, these guys are much softer on the food chain than the dough man from the previous slide. But perhaps we've already ruined it for you! Ina Garten Reveals The First Thing She Eats Every Morning

2017-01-17T23:05:56Z

When it comes to famous chefs, there's no one we love more than Ina Garten. You don't have to be a foodie to appreciate her insane cooking skills or adorable relationship with her husband Jeffrey.    The Barefoot Contessa has starred in cooking shows and written many recipe books. But have you ever wondered what she actually eats herself? Lucky for us, she revealed to Bon Appétit what she eats for breakfast "365 days a year." Get excited!   [Photo: Splash News]First up for Garten is coffee (she's so relatable!). "For coffee I either make an espresso or a pot of coffee—depending on my mood. The coffee I drink is from a company called Dallis Brothers. I take it with milk, no sweetener. I find sugar in coffee to be bitter, ironically."   [Photo: Instagram]Now for what she eats every single day... Oatmeal! Yes, really, one of the most celebrated and respected chefs in the world calls oatmeal "breakfast." But of course, she has a special way of doing it up.   " I have the same thing for breakfast every single day, 365 days a year: McCann’s Irish oatmeal. It’s actually quick-cooking, and I do it in the microwave with milk and salt. Most people don’t do their oatmeal with salt, and I think that without it, it just tastes like wallpaper paste. With salt, I think it’s delicious. And if it’s my birthday I’ll put maple syrup in it—but only on my birthday."   [Photo: McCann's]    You need to see the $200 smoothie Gwyneth Paltrow has for breakfast...   [Photo: Splash News]Want to know what supermodel Gigi Hadid calls "breakfast?" The Best Time Of Day To Do Crunches For A Flat Stomach

2017-01-17T22:51:22Z

You already know about the benefits of working out in the morning and at night. But if your #gymspiration is to have abs by summer, then there's a specific time of day you should be doing crunches--->   [Photos: Shutterstock]The best time of day to do crunches for optimal results is in the afternoon. Why? It all has to do with your spine. First thing in the morning is not the time to be pushing it. When you sleep, your spine naturally lengths (as long as you're lying in a reclined position!). This happens because the flexible intervertebral discs between your vertebrae compress slightly over the course of a day, and uncompress at night when you're lying down.   So when you wake up, you could be a little taller than you normally are (cool!).     But what does this mean for your flat-stomach workout?Ab exercises can compress your spine and damage the discs that uncompress at night. So when you wake up all decompressed, doing ab exercises right away is like a shock to your spine. Your discs spent the night taking in water and expanding, so give them some time to recover and save your crunches for later in the day! For more workout tips, check out: 5 tips to stay on the treadmill longer and the worst exercise machine at the gym according to a trainerYou already know about the benefits of working out in the morning and at night. The iPhone Settings You Should Change Immediately, According To A Privacy Expert

2017-01-17T22:35:33Z

We live in a world in which our privacy can easily be compromised, thanks in part to the most amazing device created within the last few decades: our smartphones. The pros of having an iPhone certainly outweigh the cons for most of us, but that isn't to say the idea of having our identity and data stolen doesn't provoke total fear in our hearts.   The best way to prevent this from happening is to take smart steps that will keep your information protected. Vasyl Diakonov, CTO at KeepSolid, an encryption, online protection, and privacy service, provides 5 tips on iPhone settings you should change and a few additional tips that will keep your data private.   [Photos: Shutterstock]"In order to do this, go to Touch ID & Passcode in Settings and scroll down to see your lock screen access," Diakonov says. "The fewer items that are on, the better. Turn off your wallet access and the possibility to reply to messages when your iPhone is locked.""If your phone automatically connects to hotspots, chances are your private data will be sniffed even without your notice," Diakonov says. "It’s always better to use your mobile internet whenever possible. It’s a matter of minutes for cyber-criminals to connect to your device and steal the information they need when you are in the same public Wi-Fi network, especially those that even do not require passwords to connect to.""Check your apps and turn off Location for those apps that work fine without knowing where you are," Diakonov says. "For services like maps and Uber, make sure Location is allowed while using only. Do not let them track your location in the background."   [Photo: Song of Style]"VPN creates an encrypted tunnel and all your incoming as well as outgoing data will be encrypted thus protected from any tracking," Diakanov says.""Also, if someone tries to make you unlock your iPhone, turn it off," Diakonov says. The Best Alcoholic Drinks, According To Nutritionists

2017-01-17T22:35:52Z

Alcohol will never be considered "healthy." But when going out for drinks or ordering a cocktail at dinner is part of your way of life, there's got to be some middle ground, right? Find out which alcoholic drinks nutritionists recommend you order if you're trying to stay (somewhat) healthy.    And as always, drink responsibly!    [Photos: Shutterstock]"I always go for really good red wine or rose depending on the weather and what I’m eating. I order by the glass so I can keep track of what I’m drinking rather than feeling like I have to finish a bottle and drink more than I want to," Jaime Rose Chambers, Eat Fit Foods dietitian and nutritionist, tells Mama Mia. "Wine you can also sip slowly, whereas if I go for a mixed drink or cocktail I tend to want to guzzle it too quickly."Dietitian Katherine Bagleh explains to Mama Mia, "Tequila, made from agave tequilana, is a naturally-occurring sweetener, making it an enjoyable drink alone or mixed with soda water and lime wedges."   "It doesn't contain the heavy sugar or syrups found in other alcoholic drinks, and it is suitable for those with celiac disease (assuming it's the traditional 100 per cent agave bottle."Dietitian/nutritionist Sanchia Parker recommends light beer. "Aside from enjoying the taste, I find I drink carbonated beverages more slowly, setting a slower pace and allowing more enjoyment from each sip. Pure Blonde is also lower in alcohol than other beers, so there are fewer standard drinks in each."   "Wine often gets the attention for being a somewhat healthy option, but a review of over 150 studies has shown that low-moderate intakes of beer (that’s up to one drink a day for women, and two for men) can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease." Who knew! Leah Silberman, MS, RD, tells Mind Body Green, "When it comes to choosing the 'best' alcohol, I tell clients to pick their liquor of choice (except for beer) because the reality is, a 1.5-ounce serving of vodka, rum, tequila, or whiskey are all comparable in calories."   "Alcoholic beverages become diet downfalls when they're served with unhealthy sugary mixers. The best way to approach drinking is to choose your liquor and dilute it with club soda and ice. Some fresh lemon or lime juice will provide an extra bit of refreshing flavor, without adding the sugar and artificial ingredients."Alcohol will never be considered "healthy." 2017-01-17T22:04:03Z

Many details have been revealed of the scary gunpoint robbery that Kim Kardashian experienced in Paris on October 3, 2016. If you're having a hard time keeping up, or have any lingering questions, here is everything you need to know about the terrifying incident.   [Photo: Splash News]Kardashian's first-hand account of what happened that night, which was part of the police report she filed at 4:30 AM on October 3, was made public by French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche.   She explained that she returned to her hotel room with sister Kourtney Kardashian and stylist Simone Harouche. Kardashian said that Kourtney and her assistant Stephanie Sheppard changed clothes for a night out, but she was not joining them. She instead when upstairs to work on her computer.   "I heard a noise at the door, like footsteps, and I shouted, asking, 'Who’s there?'" she said, according to the police report. "No one answered. I called my bodyguard at 2:56 a.m. Through the door, I saw two people arrive, plus the night man who was tied up."   The two men were wearing police clothing and one wore ski goggles. "It’s the one with the ski goggles who stayed with me," she said, according to the report. "He demanded with a strong French accent, my ring. It was on the bedside table. It’s worth 4 million dollars. … I told him that I didn’t know, he took out a gun and I showed him the ring."   She then described how the robbers treated her during the heist. "They grabbed me and took me into the hallway. I was wearing a bathrobe, naked underneath. Then we went in the room again and they pushed me on the bed. And, it was this time, they tied me up with plastic cables and taped my hands, then they put tape over my mouth and my legs."   “I think they robbed me of 5 million dollars,” she said. “Then they left on the run.” Kardashian described in detail what was taken from her room, including, two diamond Cartier bracelets, a gold and diamond Jacob necklace, Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings and a gold Rolex. But that wasn't even everything.   [Photo: Splash News]Right after news broke of the robbery, many people wondered why her bodyguard wasn't there.   Pascal Duvier, who had worked with Kanye West since 2012, seemed to be right by Kardashian's side throughout her time in Paris, even protecting her from that guy who tries to grab celebrities. However, he was not present for the robbery. So where was he?   Duvier was with Kourtney and Kendall Jenner for their night out. "It wouldn’t be that strange for Pascal to be dispatched to be with Kourtney or the other family members once Kim was ‘safely’ in her residence," a family source revealed. "And he regularly provides security for the whole family — not just Kim."   A month after the crime, the Kardashian-West family parted ways with Duvier. Even though Kim allegedly does not blame him for the robbery, she had "a complete overhauling of security after the incident," according to an insider.   A source told PEOPLE, “Pascal no longer works for Kim and Kanye, but he wasn’t fired. He instead reassigned himself to another family for professional reasons. Pascal thought that he did let down Kim and didn’t do his job properly in Paris. They all agreed that it was better for Kim and Kanye to hire a completely new security team."   [Photo: Instagram]French Police arrested 17 suspects on January 9, 2017 in Paris as well as nearby cities.   Of the 17 a[...]

The Best Foods For Getting Toned, According To Trainers

2017-01-17T21:48:41Z

If you're close to your goal weight (lucky you!), it's time to start thinking about getting toned. Having lean muscle and low body fat means that you will burn more calories, even while at rest. Plus, you'll be able to enjoy the results of all your hard work more because you'll be able to see the muscle tone.   This is the look almost everyone is after--but how do you get it? Of course, you'll need to step up your exercise game--but the truth is that no matter how much you work out, you won't be able to shed an ounce of fat if you're not eating the right foods. Here's a list of the ones that nutritionists and trainers agree you should stick to:The stronger your muscles are, the more fat you'll burn--and to get them strong you'll need 15-20 grams of protein in every meal. Low in saturated fat and high in protein, grilled skinless chicken breast is the perfect protein. The breast has the highest protein-to-fat ratio (19-to-1), and three ounces of the stuff equals 26 grams of protein.Oily fish like mackerel and salmon are great for toning because they're low calorie, high protein. They're also packed full of things like omega 3 and 6, calcium, selenium, magnesium, potassium, folate, niacin, vitamins A, B12, C and K. Niacin, for example, aids in the conversion of protein, fat and carbohydrates into usable energy.Another great protein option trainers suggest is tuna. It's low in fat and calories, but high in protein and heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Some tuna brands contain up to 30 grams of protein in a single can! Nice. Eggs are a wonderfully versatile food, and another low calorie source of protein. Make your own omelettes with one part egg and one part egg white to avoid going overboard with the saturated fat content (there's quite a bit of the stuff in the yolk).Cottage cheese is cheese that's been curdled and drained. "The result is a delicious white crumble that’s a great source of high protein - specifically high in casein due to most of the whey being drained away," according to Pilates instructor Cassey Ho of Blogilates.   Casein protein is slow-digesting, making it a favorite before bedtime food for bodybuilders. It's also low in fat--win win!Oysters are low in fat and high in minerals like zinc, calcium, selenium, iron and vitamin A. Zinc, for one, aids in protein synthesis, which is why oysters are a popular food for bodybuilders (who knew!).Tofu probably isn't the first protein that bodybuilders reach for, but trainers who work with vegetarian clients or clients looking to mix up their protein intake suggest tofu, as the soybeans in tofu are an excellent source of complete protein. According to Glamour UK, you shouldn't overlook the important greens in your diet. Spinach, for one, is high in iron, vitamin C and fiber. The iron and vitamin C, help produce collagen, the protein that gives skin and muscles their "toned, youthful and elastic appearance." [...]If you're close to your goal weight (lucky you!), it's time to start thinking about getting toned. 5 Things You Should Do To Stay On The Treadmill Longer

2017-01-17T21:43:03Z

Running on the treadmill might be one of the most boring workouts ever. You're usually just counting down the seconds until you can get off that thing! But you've already won half the battle by even stepping foot on that machine. So how can you get the most out of your treadmill time? Click through for 5 tips to staying on the treadmill longer (and not drive yourself crazy!).   [Photos: Shutterstock]If you run at the same speed and incline all the time, no wonder you're bored! Try changing things up by incorporating intervals into your treadmill workout. It seems weird to not run on a treadmill, but you can walk instead and get a solid workout if you just set a steep incline. Don't forget to try intervals with this too!Instead of focusing on the fact that you're on the treadmill, pay attention to your breathing. Try coordinating it with your running by breathing in for a few strides and then breathing out for the same number of strides.Another great form of distraction: listening to a podcast. Whoever you are listening to will keep you entertained, and maybe even make you forget that you are moving faster than a snail's pace.Get on the treadmill when your favorite show is on, and watch time fly by! You might end up running longer than an episode of Real Housewives without even realizing.Running on the treadmill might be one of the most boring workouts ever. The Weird Reason Kendall Jenner Painted Her Living Room This Color

2017-01-17T18:40:55Z

Kendall Jenner has been super into decorating ever since she purchased her first home last year.    This Instagram from a few weeks ago is the latest peek into her home. She captioned the photo "kenny's pink xmas," and it's hard not to notice that striking pink wall. There's actually a psychological reason why the model chose this specific color for her living room walls--->    [Photo: Splash News]In a post on her app, Jenner explains, "I decided to paint it pink because while I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with the room, I went to dinner with friends and they had just gone to the 'Human Condition' exhibition at a former hospital in LA."   She continues, "They were telling me there's a pink room at the exhibit that had an explanation of the color choice: Baker-Miller Pink is the only color scientifically proven to calm you AND suppress your appetite. I was like, 'I NEED this color in my house!' I then found someone to paint the room and now I'm loving it!"   Find out more about the decor in her home--->    [Photo: Instagram]To decorate her new digs, Jenner enlisted her family's go-to interior designer, Martyn Lawrence Bullard (you know you're in when you get to attend Kris Jenner's annual Christmas Eve Party).   She detailed in a post on her app (duh) how she wanted the home to feel. "I don’t like rooms that are too modern — they feel cold," she wrote.     The first piece she and Bullard picked out was the Cloud Modular sectional from Restoration Hardware. "It’s just the most comfortable seating around," Jenner said of the $1,150 sofa. "The most important thing is that I want everyone who comes over to be able to chill and vibe out."     Some interesting decor choices, Kenny! We hope to see more of the $6.5 million home soon.    [Photo: Instagram]Want more Kendall? PHOTOS: Celebrities Showing Off Their New Tattoos

2017-01-17T16:56:16Z

Bella Hadid walked the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show for the first time in 2016, but it looks like she's officially an angel for life (sort of).   The model debuted her new tiny angel wing tattoos, one on each side of her right ankle, just days after her ex boyfriendThe Weeknd and Selena Gomez went public with their relationship.    What's interesting about her tattoo choice is that she and The Weeknd both appeared at the 2016 VS Show and even had a friendly exchange on the runway. So will she always be reminded of her ex when she looks at her ankle ink?    [Photo: Instagram]Her tattoo artists shared photos to his Instagram of Hadid's tats, captioning one photo with the dove emoji and the other with the word "fly." So, do with that info what you want but there's still some meaning having to do with The Weeknd, no?   [Photo: Instagram]Kendall Jenner got a huge a** tattoo on her a** because this is what people do in 2017.    The 21-year-old model joins Joan Smalls, Amber Valletta, Lara Stone, Ellen Rosa, and Carolyn Murphy on multiple covers for V magazine's January issue, which is themed "eternalness of tattoos in an industry known for constant change." Hence, the massive snake tattoo on Kendall's thigh, which appears to continue onto her booty.    Don't worry, though, it's temporary. At least for now...   [Photo: V Magazine]    Kendall Jenner revealed to Allure that she got the word "Meow" tattooed inside her mouth. However, the magazine claimed the inner lower lip tattoo faded after the shoot.   Well, it looks like that was a lie. Or Kenny got a touch-up. We're going with the latter. Yesterday, celeb tattoo artist JonBoy posted this photo to Instagram of the supermodel's new ink. Yep, it looks like the bottom lip tat is definitely there to stay.    [Photo: Instagram]Rob Kardashian showed off his new neck tattoo on Blac Chyna's Snapchat, and it might be the name of their unborn child. It looks like he is not keeping up with the Kardashian tradition of "K" names. The tattoo reads "Aniyla." How pretty![Photo: Blac Chyna Snapchat]Miley Cyrus is showing her affection for Liam Hemsworth in a whole new way. Tattoo artist Doctor Woo posted a photo to Instagram of Miley's new ink, "@mileycyrus don't play when it comes to #vegemite ? #halfneedle." If there is one thing we know about Australians, like Liam, it's that they love Vegemite. Also, Liam has been quoted multiple times declaring his fondness for the food.In an interview with Aussie's Sunday Style, Liam received treats from his homeland and totally geeked out, "My Aussie mates in Malibu are going to love these! After-school Milo and Vegemite on toast. I lived on it." But if that's not enough evidence of his Vegemite fandom, there's also this quote from a 2010 interview, "Meat Pies and Vegemite. They don't really have meat pies in the states; they have hot chicken pies, not meat pies," he told an Australian site. "Vegemite, definitely, I had four bits of Vegemite toast this morning!"OK, so that explains it, Miley definitely got this tattoo for her love.[Photo: Instagram] Justin Bieber got some new ink...on his face! The pop star debuted a tiny cross tattoo just below his right eye. His tattoo artists told Us, "Justin came in last night and decided on a small cross near the corner of his eye. It represents his journey in findi[...]

Working in the restaurant industry can be stressful. In particular, there's one time of day that all waiters hate working. This is also the worst time of day to go out to eat because the wait is long and the staff is under a lot of pressure. The food also isn't as fresh. Click to find out which time of day you should avoid going to a restaurant.Rob Gunther, a waiter in NYC, wrote an entire piece for Thought Catalog claiming lunch hour is the worst time of day for everyone at a restaurant. Both customers and wait staff are rushed and "nobody’s cutting anybody any slack." It isn't an enjoyable experience for anyone. You might think, "How is the lunch rush any different from dinner?" Gunther explains, "As a waiter, dinner’s pretty easy. People start rolling in around five or six, and the dining room stays pretty full until closing. That’s plenty of time to make money, to let people eat, finish chewing their food, the whole restaurant experience."This source worked at a busy chain restaurant for over 10 years. According to them, "The best time to eat in a restaurant is about an hour before said rush time. This is when the servers are fresh, clean, and still in good spirits." What To Wear To Sleep the Night Before Your Wedding

2017-01-16T22:16:46Z

The key to looking and feeling your best is getting a good night’s sleep. Before you climb into bed for the last time as a single woman, check out these tips to make sure you wear the right items for a solid night of shuteye.Let your skin breathe in soft and light fabric (think cotton), which will ensure you don’t start to sweat or overheat during the night. While super tight clothing might look better, clingy pjs are probably not going to give you the best night’s sleep. After all, it can affect your circulation and breathing. Even worse: wearing binding clothing also has been linked to inhibiting the development of melatonin, which is a key hormone that helps to regulate your sleep cycles.A nightgown, boy shorts or pants--what you decide to sleep is completely up to you. Just be sure to choose the pajamas that you feel most comfortable in.If you’re worried about not being able to fall asleep, think about wearing a sleep mask to bed. It can block out any outside light and also force you to keep your eyes closed until you drift off into sleep.Cotton pillowcases can pull your hair--this is especially bad if you’re not planning on washing your hair on your wedding day (it’s actually easier for stylists to work with unwashed hair). If you don’t have the budget for a silk or satin pillowcase after all that wedding spending, simply wrap your hair in a silk or satin scarf.Beauty rule number one: Do not go to bed with your makeup on! Wash your face, moisturize and treat any blemishes (but don’t pop, which can make it worse!).The key to looking and feeling your best is getting a good night’s sleep.
