Baseball Places Seven Mids on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

The Patriot League announced its 2017 Academic Honor Roll recently and seven members of the Navy baseball team were listed as recipients of the accolade. Rising senior Stephen Born headlines the group of honorees as the outfielder has now been named after each of his first three seasons as a Midshipmen. Scott Koscho, Leland Saile, Andrew Sauer, Gabe Schilke, Trey Seabrooke and Matthew Wilcox round off the qualified Midshipmen, who recorded a 3.20 or better grade-point average during the spring semester.

Adrian Chinnery Garners Senior CLASS First Team All-America Honors

After advancing from a list of 30 candidates in March to 10 semifinalists in late April, Adrian Chinnery found out over the weekend that he was one of five players nationally to be named to the 2017 Senior CLASS All-America First Team. A four-year starter for the Mids, Chinnery was recognized for his notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Travis Blue Named to ABCA All-East Regional Second Team

Last week, the American Baseball Coaches Association announced its 2017 All-Region Teams and for the third straight year a Navy player was amongst the talented squad that was named to the All-East Regional Team as Travis Blue garnered a spot as the shortstop on the second team.

Biggers & Williamson Recognized as Louisville Slugger Freshman All-Americans

On Wednesday, the Navy baseball program had a pair of players earn recognition as members of the Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team. Selected by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, Zach Biggers and Jacob Williamson become just the ninth and tenth different players in Navy baseball history to earn such accolades.

Stephen Born Repeats as CoSIDA Academic All-American

For the second straight year junior outfielder Stephen Born (Strafford, Pa.) was selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-American. On Friday, Born was named as one of two outfielders on the third team. This announcement makes Born one of just three Mids in program history to be a two-time honoree and the first since Mike Leeney repeated in 1985 and 1986.

Four Mids Selected to All-ECAC Baseball Second Team

On Wednesday, the Navy baseball team had four of its players garnered All-ECAC Second Team recognition. The quartet of SS Travis Blue, SP Kyle Condry, CF Logan Knowles and RF Leland Saile were selected from a regional-based ballot after recording strong 2017 seasons for the 37-17 Midshipmen club.

The Navy baseball team conclude its 2017 season on Sunday afternoon at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium with a 5-0 loss to Bucknell in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament. The Mids (37-17) fell victim for the second straight day to a dominant complete game pitching performance by a Bison (21-26) hurler as LHP Mike Castellani shut out the top-seeded Navy squad with a three-hitter on Sunday.

Baseball Drops Opener of Patriot League Semifinals to Bucknell

The showdown of two of the Patriot League’s top pitchers lived up to its billing on Saturday afternoon as Navy’s Noah Song and Bucknell’s Connor Van Hoose went head-to-head and turned in strong results in the first game of the best-of-three Patriot League semifinal series at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium. The matchup between the top-seeded Mids (37-16) and fourth-seeded Bison (20-26) went the way of the visitors by a final score of 4-1 as a brief 1-0 lead by Navy in the seventh inning couldn’t hold up before Bucknell responded in the top of the eighth with four runs.

Stephen Born Selected to Academic All-Patriot League Baseball Team

In an announcement by the league’s office on Friday, junior OF Stephen Born was named as one of 12 baseball student-athletes on the Academic All-Patriot League Team. This is the second straight year that Born has earned this honor that recognizes one’s success both on and off the field. Live Stats | Live Video | The Navy baseball team begins its Patriot League postseason title defense this weekend with a best-of-three semifinal series at home versus Bucknell at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium. In a rematch of the 2016 Patriot League semifinal series, the top-seeded Mids (37-15, 16-4 PL) will host the fourth-seeded Bison (19-26, 10-10 PL) beginning on Saturday with a single nine-inning contest at 1 p.m. The Mids and Bison will play game two on Sunday starting at 12 p.m. with a potential `if necessary' game three slated to begin 40 minutes afterwards.

Blue & Condry Garner Major Patriot League Postseason Honors

In a matchup that served as preparation for both teams’ upcoming postseason competitions, the Mids (37-15) used seven pitchers in the combined shutout, while the Riverhawks (22-17) had six hurlers step to the mound at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium.

Navy to Host Susquehanna Univ. in Regular Season Finale

Live Stats | The Navy baseball team will conclude its regular season on Sunday with a single non-conference game against Susquehanna University at 1:30 p.m. The matchup at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium will be the first-ever between the two institutions. The Mids (36-15) and Riverhawks (22-16) will both use Sunday’s contest as a preparation for their upcoming respective conference tournaments. Navy begins Patriot League semifinal action at home on Saturday, May 13 as the number one seed versus number four Bucknell. On the other side of the docket, Susquehanna will begin Landmark Conference postseason play next weekend. The Riverhawks went 12-6 in league action and currently rank second overall.

Stephen Born Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

On Thursday afternoon, CoSIDA announced its 2017 Academic All-District II First Team and Navy junior outfielder Stephen Born was among the 12 players recognized with this distinguished honor. Born was voted to the team as one of four outfielders from the District II region that encompasses Washington D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia based schools.

Adrian Chinnery Announced as Senior CLASS Award Finalist

Navy baseball catcher Adrian Chinnery has been named as one of the 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award. Originally one of 30 national candidates, the field has been narrowed down and Chinnery is left standing amongst the likes of players from Clemson, East Carolina and Oklahoma State to name a few.
