Navy Wins 2018 Star with Doubleheader Sweep of Army on Saturday

Riding the high from a stellar performance on Friday night at Fenway Park, the Navy baseball team claimed the 2018 Baseball Star in emphatic fashion on Saturday at West Point with a come-from-behind, 2-1 victory in game one and a dominant 9-0 shutout in the second game. Needing just one win to claim the Star on Saturday at Johnson Stadium at Doubleday Field, the Mids (31-11, 15-6 PL) rattled off three consecutive two-out hits in their final regulation at bat to overtake the Black Knights (22-17, 12-5 PL) and secure the one-run win. The proverbial icing on the cake to Navy's day and weekend series sweep was a 9-0 win in game two that saw Sean Kamhoot hold Army to one hit over seven innings, while the Mids' offense cranked out six extra-base hits, including home runs by Christian Hodge and Jacob Williamson.

Navy Earns 4-0 Win Over Army at Fenway Park

A rivalry that dates back to 1901 took to historic Fenway Park on the day, the ballpark hosted its first official regular season game in 1912. On Friday night, the Navy baseball team gave the more than 6,000 fans in attendance something to remember as the club used a stellar pitching performance by Noah Song and an impressive power display by Christian Hodge to earn a 4-0 victory in game one of the 2018 Baseball Star Series.

Star on the Line for Navy Baseball with Road Series versus Army

The top two baseball teams in the Patriot League will face off this weekend with postseason implications and bragging rights abound when Navy travels north to play Army in a three-game series. Starting on Friday night at 6 p.m. with a neutral site meeing at historic Fenway Park and concluding on Saturday with a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Doubleday Field at West Point, the Mids (28-11, 12-6 PL) and Black Knights (22-14, 12-2 PL) will go head-to-head for a trio of contests. The 2018 baseball Star will be on the line during this series and will go to the overall winner of the three-game set.



Baseball Earns Key Patriot League Victory over Bucknell on Wednesday

The Navy baseball team came from behind Wednesday afternoon to secure an important Patriot League victory over Bucknell at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium. In a matchup of the second and third place teams in the league, the Mids (28-11, 12-6 PL) scrapped throughout before pulling ahead of the Bison (12-22, 9-8 PL) in the latter third of the game. Down 4-3 after five innings, Navy scored twice in the seventh and once in the eighth to complete the comeback and earn its 12th Patriot League victory of the season.

Navy & Bucknell to Conclude Regular Season Series on Wednesday

The Navy baseball team will host Bucknell on Wednesday in the final contest of the two school's five-game regular season series. As part of the Patriot League's new 25-game conference schedule, each team in the league will meet five times in 2018. The Mids (27-11, 11-6 PL) and the Bison (12-21, 9-7 PL) opened their series on the weekend of March 17-18 in Lewisburg, Pa. with four games. The fifth and final game will be played at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium with a scheduled first pitch of 3 p.m.

Jared Leins Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

For the third time in 2018, freshman RHP Jared Leins has been selected as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week. A key member of Navy's bullpen, Leins was recognized for his efforts in three games this past week. In all three appearances, the Raleigh, N.C. native held his opponents scoreless.

Mids Take Series Over Lehigh with 7-1 Win on Sunday

The Navy baseball team won its third straight Patriot League series with a 7-1 victory over Lehigh on Sunday. Faced with the threat of constant rain throughout the afternoon, the Mids (27-11, 11-6 PL) and Mountain Hawks (13-21, 3-10 PL) went head-to-head in a 10:30 a.m. contest at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium. After a scoreless stretch of three innings to start the game, Navy's offense began clicking over the middle innings and scored a combined six runs during the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to break out to a 6-1 lead. The Mids' starter Andrew Sauer held the Mountain Hawks in check for the entirety of his outing with just one run allowed over seven innings.

Navy and Lehigh Split Saturday Doubleheader

The Navy baseball team battled with Lehigh for 17 innings on Saturday as the Mids (26-11, 10-6 PL) and the Mountain Hawks (13-20, 3-9 PL) each came away with a victory in the Patriot League doubleheader at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium. Game one was a pitchers' duel between Navy's Noah Song and Lehigh's Levi Stoudt that saw Logan Knowles come through with the walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh for a 2-1 victory. Game two had similar dramatics as the Mids tied the game in the bottom of the ninth at 4-4 to force extra innings before the Mountain Hawks tallied three runs in the top of the 10th inning.



Three-Game Home Series with Lehigh Awaits Navy

Currently standing in second place in the Patriot League through four weeks of conference action, the Navy baseball team will welcome the Lehigh Mountain Hawks for a three-game series at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium this Saturday and Sunday. After playing their four other Patriot League rivals at least once in 2018, the Mids (25-10, 9-5 PL) and Mountain Hawks (12-19, 2-8 PL) will face off for the first time this spring over the weekend in Annapolis. The action on Saturday will consist of a doubleheader starting at 12 noon before the teams close out the series with a single game on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.

Navy Falls in Midweek Bout with Georgetown

The Navy baseball team dropped a non-conference tilt with Georgetown on Wednesday afternoon at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium by a score of 3-2. Three combined runs by the Hoyas (10-20) over the second and fourth innings would stand up as the Midshipmen (25-10) would only be able to muster a two-spot on the scoreboard in the sixth inning in a game that was heavily controlled by pitchers.

Navy Welcomes Georgetown for Wednesday Contest

The Navy and Georgetown baseball teams will face off on Wednesday in the second game of their multi-game series during the 2018 season. After initially taking on the Hoyas (9-20) on Feb. 18 in Winston-Salem, N.C. as part of a round-robin at Wake Forest, the Mids (25-9) will host their neighboring rival on Wednesday afternoon at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium beginning at 3 p.m.

Song Earns Second Straight Patriot League Pitcher of the Week Nod

For the second consecutive week and third time in 2018, Noah Song garnered recognition as the Patriot League Pitcher of the Week. The junior right-handed pitcher from Claremont, Calif. Hurled a seven-inning complete game shutout this past Saturday at Holy Cross.

Navy Baseball to Host Throwback Day on April 14 versus Lehigh

The Navy baseball team will be turning the clocks back 125 years this coming Saturday as Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium will play host to a 1893 Throwback Day. With the doubleheader action on the field between the Mids and Lehigh Mountain Hawks beginning at 12 p.m., fans in attendance will experience a host of sights, sounds and foods from Navy's first collegiate season as part of Throwback Day.



Holy Cross Knocks Off Navy in Extra Innings, 3-2

The Navy baseball team lost a hard-fought 3-2 extra-inning road contest on Sunday at Patriot League rival, Holy Cross. Taking an initial 2-0 lead and riding a start by Nicholas Elder that saw the right-hander set down the first 16 Crusaders (11-13, 6-4 PL) in order, the Mids (25-9, 9-5 PL) succumbed to a strong relief pitching and eventually a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning to fall in the final contest of their three-game series at Fitton Field.

Baseball Sweeps Saturday Doubleheader at Holy Cross

The Navy baseball team opened its three-game series at Holy Cross on Saturday with a sweep of doubleheader action. The Mids (25-8, 9-4 PL) defeated the Crusaders (10-13, 5-4 PL) by a score of 1-0 in game one and 9-5 in game two. The visiting Mids received another stellar pitching outing by Noah Song in the first contest before using a quick 5-0 start and clutch late-game execution to earn the victory in the nightcap at Fitton Field.
