Baseball Named as Winner of the 2015-16 Director of Athletics Cup

With the reformation of the brigade and start of classes, it was announced recently by Navy Director of Athletics Chet Gladchuk that the Navy baseball program had been awarded the 2015-16 Director of Athletics Cup. Under the direction of head coach Paul Kostacopoulos, the Navy baseball team turned in a performance for the record books during the 2015-16 school year. The 2016 regular season saw the Mids go a school-record 43-16-1 and earn into a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

Gillingham Completes 2016 Campaign with Bluefield Blue Jays

Earlier this month, 2016 USNA graduate Luke Gillingham completed pitching in his first professional season with the Bluefield Blue Jays of the Appalachian League. A two-time All-American while at Navy, Gillingham was drafted into the Toronto Blue Jays organization via the 37th round of the June Major League Baseball Draft. He competed with the short-season rookie level minor league team in Bluefield for four games during his summer leave before starting work on his upcoming surface warfare assignment.

Baseball Places Six Midshipmen on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

It was announced on Monday that the Navy baseball team had six student-athletes named to the sport's Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Luke Gillingham and Stephen Born, a pair of two-time honorees led the group of Midshipmen that included Connor Deneen, Scott Koscho, Andrew Sauer and Matthew Wilcox. To be eligible for the sport's academic honor roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester.
