Penalty shootouts. The thrill of victory. The agony of defeat. Six days after experiencing the exultation of prevailing in penalties in the program’s first-ever postseason home match, Siena Soccer suffered the opposite outcome. After playing to a 2-2 draw through regulation and a pair of overtime periods, defending tournament champion and No. 2 seed Rider punched its ticket back to the title match with a 3-1 triumph in penalty kicks over the third seeded Saints in the MAAC Semifinals.

Five Saints Earn All-MAAC Honors

A total of five members from the Siena Soccer team were awarded with All-MAAC honors at the conference’s postseason awards show Thursday night in Hamden, Connecticut. Senior striker Junior Rosero and junior captain Milorad Sobot were named Second Team All-MAAC selections, while the Saints tied a program record with three All-Rookie Team honorees (2007, 2009, 2011, 2012) in freshmen Eamonn Conway, Matt Crisafulli and unanimous selection Conor McGlynn.

Siena Soccer's first-ever postseason home match was one the Saints won't soon forget. Following a scoreless tie through 110 minutes of action, junior goalkeeper Aleksa Radosavljevic made three huge saves during the shootout to propel third seeded Siena past No. 6 seed Monmouth 3-1 in penalty kicks.

Alex Grattarola’s 83rd minute goal completed a late two-goal Canisius comeback as the Golden Griffins rallied to tie Siena Soccer 3-3 at Siena Turf Field.
