Baseball. Baseball Inks Seven During Early Signing Period

Siena Baseball Head Coach Tony Rossi has announced the addition of seven early commitments to the Saints’ Class of 2022. James Flood, Arlo Marynczak, Matt McGowan, Ben Seiler, Evan St. Claire, Nate Toms, and Davis Zerr have all signed and returned their National Letters of Intent during the early signing period and will enroll at Siena College next fall.

Defending Patriot League Champion and preseason favorite Bucknell shot 61% from the field -- including 10-20 from three -- and made 39-45 (86.7%) from the free throw line to shoot past Siena Basketball 115-92 in a barnburner at Sojka Pavilion. The 207 combined points scored marked the most in a Siena game since a 105-103 loss in an NIT contest at Penn State on Mar. 20, 2000.



W. Basketball. Fourth Quarter Surge Pushes FGCU Past Siena

After a 27-point fourth quarter, NCAA contender Florida Gulf Coast pushed past Siena Women's Basketball 63-50 to start 5-0 for just the second time in the Division I era (2007-present). The Eagles were averaging 83.8 points per game before facing the Saints.



General News. Saints Continue to Climb in GSR Rankings

Siena College student athletes are graduating at one of the highest rates nationally amongst all Division I schools. According to the NCAA’s annual Graduation Success Rate (GSR) report, 92% of student athletes who entered Siena College as freshmen in the Fall of 2010 went on to graduate, eclipsing the national Division I average of 87% by five points.

Members of the Siena’s men’s and women’s tennis teams have volunteered their time this month to help out Albany’s 15-LOVE tennis program. The visit was part of a partnership between Siena student athletes and local community groups that falls under Siena’s Saints in the Community Program.

Siena Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams finished up a record setting year at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York. The men finished eighth as a team, while the women finished 15th.

Junior guard Nico Clareth eclipsed the 30-point mark for the second time in his career, but it wasn't quite enough as Siena Basketball fell 91-90 to Lehigh in an overtime classic at Stabler Arena. Clareth scored 30 points which included six threes for the Saints in a tightly fought battle which featured 14 ties and 15 lead changes.



Baseball. Siena Baseball Holding Pair of Winter Camps

Siena Baseball will be offering a pair of camps for aspiring baseball players this winter. The Saints are set to hold a Youth Instructional Camp for boys in Grades 1-8 on Jan. 20, and a High School Prospect Skills Camp for boys in Grades 9-12 on Feb. 3.

Siena Volleyball senior middle blocker Samantha Pethokoukis and freshman outside hitter Dakota Jackson were named to the All-MAAC teams, as selected by the league’s head coaches. Pethokoukis was named to the Second Team, while Jackson earned Rookie Team honors.
