The Providence College women’s ice hockey team’s freshman forward, Kathleen McHugh (Billerica, Mass.) was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week in announcement made by the league on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017.



Women’s Hockey Edged By No. 6 Boston College, 3-1.

The Providence College women’s hockey team was defeated by No. 6 Boston College, 3-1, on Feb. 19, 2017. The Friars move to 16-15-3 (11-10-3 HE) and the Eagles improve to 23-5-5 (17-4-3 HE). The game secured the Friars as a No. 4 seed entering the Hockey East Playoffs and Providence will host five-seed Vermont for a best-of-three series in the Quarterfinals.

The Providence College women’s ice hockey team defeated the Merrimack Warriors, 4-3, in overtime on Feb. 12. The Friars entered the third period down 3-0 and scored four unanswered goals to win in overtime. The Friars improve to 15-14-3 (10-9-3 HE) and Merrimack moves to 10-19-3 (6-16-0 HE).
