Adrienne Houle And Megan Hamilton Earn NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region Honors

Providence College field hockey players Adrienne Houle (Burlington, Ontario) and Megan Hamilton (Warrington, Pa.) each earned Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region honors on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Houle, a senior midfielder, was selected to the First Team and is eligible to receive All-America recognition. Hamilton, a junior midfielder, was named to the Second Team.



Field Hockey Defeated In BIG EAST Semifinals By Liberty, 1-0

The Providence College field hockey team fell to Liberty, 1-0, in the BIG EAST Semifinals on Nov. 4 in Philadelphia, Pa. The Friars entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed, while Liberty held the No. 2 seed. Providence concludes its season with a 13-6 overall record, while the Flames advance to the BIG EAST Championship Game, slated for 1:00 p.m. on Nov. 6.



Four Field Hockey Players Earn All-BIG EAST Conference Honors

The Providence College field hockey team was well-represented among the list of All-BIG EAST Conference selections, released by the league office on Thursday, Nov. 3. Junior Megan Guilbert (Morganville, N.J.), junior Megan Hamilton (Warrington, Pa.) and senior Adrienne Houle (Burlington, Ontario) were each named to the All-BIG EAST First Team. Freshman Floor Rozemeijer (Santpoort-Zuid, Holland) was recognized on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.



Field Hockey Set To Face Liberty In BIG EAST Conference Semifinals

The Providence College field hockey team enters the 2016 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship presented by Jeep as the No. 3 seed. The Friars finished in tie for second place in the regular-season standings with Liberty, but the Flames earned the No. 2 seed by virtue of its 2-1 victory over Providence on Oct. 21.

Providence College junior field hockey goalkeeper Megan Guilbert (Morganville, N.J.) was named Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 3. Earlier this week, Guilbert was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Friars to a 1-0 overtime victory at Old Dominion.

Providence College senior midfielder Adrienne Houle (Burlington, Ontario) has been named to the 2016 Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division I Senior Game roster. The National Field Hockey Coaches’ Association (NFHCA) released its selections on Monday, Oct. 31. The Division I Senior Game is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19 at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. The match is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m. (ET).



Megan Guilbert Named BIG EAST Defensive Player Of The Week

Providence College junior goalkeeper Megan Guilbert (Morganville, N.J.) was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and freshman midfielder Mary O'Reilly (Longmeadow, Mass.) was recognized on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. The league announced its weekly award winners on Monday, Oct. 31. Both players had a significant impact in the Friars' 1-0 overtime victory at Old Dominion on Oct. 28, helping Providence clinch a spot in the four-team BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship presented by Jeep.

Providence College freshman forward Sylvia Miller (Severn, Md.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for field hockey on Monday, Oct. 24. It marks the second time this season that Miller has been named to the Honor Roll, having previously been recognized by the league on Oct. 17.

The Eagles scored with just 52-seconds remaining on the clock in the second overtime session to earn the win. The Friars fall to 12-5 overall on the year, while Boston College improves to 9-7.

The changes has been made in an effort to avoid potential thunderstorms predicted to be in the area later this evening. The game was originally scheduled to be played at 7:00 p.m.

The Providence College field hockey team defeated cross-city rival Brown, 2-1, in overtime on Oct. 18 at Goldberger Family Field in Providence, R.I. Freshman forward Sylvia Miller (Severn, Md.) tallied the game-winning goal for the second-straight match. In the Friars’ previous match against Georgetown (Oct. 14), Miller was credited with the game-winner in a 3-2 overtime victory.
