Rhoda falls in USBC singles championship semis

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Jacqueline Rhoda (Portage, Indiana) advanced all the way to the April 22 semifinals at the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles Championship before her amazing run ended.The sophomore fell to Webber International’s Taylor Bulthuis 233-213 in the one-game winner advance format of the semifinals and finals which were taped for television.



Hawks’ season ends with loss to Stephen F. Austin

The University of Maryland Eastern opened bracket play Friday (April 21) morning at the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championship with a 4-2 win against Wright State, but that was the last victory of a highly successful season.The Hawks fell to Stephen F. Austin in their next match, taking their second and final loss at the USBC Championship.



Hawks go 1-1 after qualifying 3rd at USBC championship

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore put up a strong qualifying round on Thursday morning at the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championship. The Hawks followed that up by going 1-1 in the evening's first two rounds of double elimination bracket match play.

Jacqueline Rhoda advances to USBC singles championship semis

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Jacqueline Rhoda (Portage, Indiana) took her No. 1 seed at the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles Championship and ran with on Wednesday.The sophomore took advantage of the first-round bye she earned on Tuesday, then picked up two victories in single-elimination bracket play to advance to Saturday’s semifinals.

Hawks eliminated from NCAA Tournament with 4-3 loss to Nebraska

During Saturday's elimination match against Nebraska in the NCAA Tournament, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore was facing a difficult situation trailing 3-1 to the five-time NCAA Champions.The Hawks showed what they are made of clawing back to a 3-3 tie, but then fell 100-88 in a five-frame roll off when a controversial rules violation by the Cornhuskers created in a 167-167 tie in Game 7.



New start for Hawks at NCAA's as they advance to Saturday

Armed with the knowledge that Thursday's qualifying struggles were firmly behind it, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore won its final two qualifying matches at the NCAA Championship against Stephen F. Austin and Arkansas State to earn the No. 7 seed for Friday's bracket play.The Hawks (88-45) started the evening with a close 4-2 loss to Vanderbilt and then eliminated Stephen F. Austin 4-3 showing a resilience that coach Kayla Bandy always knew they were capable of.

Seraus adds third All-American honor of her career

University of Maryland Eastern Shore graduate student Thashaina Seraus (Oranjestad, Aruba) was honored as a National Tenpins Coaches Association Second-Team All-American selection at Wednesday's NCAA Bowling Banquet.Seraus has bowled anchor for the Hawks all season and averages 205.3 in Baker play and 204.0 in traditional games and has bowled 1,347 frames. She leads the team in strike percentage (52.2 percent), Fill percentage (86.8 percent) and single-pin spare percentage (94.0 percent). She is second in spare percentage at 72.4 percent and holds a team-high 204.8 combined average.
