Georgetown University swimming & diving senior Molly Fitzpatrick ) and freshman Drew Carbone swept the BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. The awards recognize both swimmers’ performances at the three-day Bucknell Invite last weekend.



W. Volleyball. Speech Earns Fifth BIG EAST Honor Roll Selection

Georgetown University volleyball’s junior middle blocker Symone Speech earned her fourth-straight selection to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. The honor recognizes her performances in GU’s final two matches of the season over the weekend.

The Georgetown University football team had five student-athletes earn nods to All-Patriot League teams when the postseason awards were announced on Tuesday. The all-league teams were selected by a vote of the seven Patriot League coaches.

Georgetown University women’s basketball forward Cynthia Petke (Yaounde, Cameroon/-/Chipola) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll the league announced on Monday. It is the first weekly honor for the Hoyas this season and the first of her career.

Georgetown University cross country standout Jonathan Green (Berlin, Mass./Saint John’s School) was named an All-American in men’s cross country following an announcement from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday. Green finished 10th overall at the 2017 NCAA Cross Country Championships, held at the EP “Tom” Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday.

The Georgetown University swimming & diving team broke three more school records on the final day of the Bucknell Invite, bringing the weekend total to nine record-breaking swims. At the end of 40 events, the Hoya men finished second, while the GU women placed third. Racing took place at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium.



M. Soccer. Men’s Soccer Falls in Double Overtime in NCAA Second Round

The Georgetown University men’s soccer team lost a heartbreaker to the Southern Methodist University Mustangs, 2-1, in double overtime in the second round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament on a windy day at Shaw Field on Sunday. The Hoyas knocked in an own goal with 14 ticks remaining before heading to penalty kicks. Georgetown finishes the season with a mark of 14-4-2.



W. Basketball. Hoyas Fall at George Washington
