The Georgetown University track & field team got off to a solid start at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary Championships, hosted by the University of Kentucky in Lexington. On the first day of the prelims, a meet that serves as the precursor to the final site of the championships in Eugene, Ore., one Hoya has already punched his ticket to nationals while a trio of GU runners advanced to the next round of competition. A live stream of the event will be available on the SEC Network+, available through the WatchESPN app.

Sailing. Georgetown Sailing Currently in Ninth at ICSA Women’s National Championships

After the first day of sailing in an 18-boat final, the Georgetown University sailing team is currently in ninth place of the 2017 ICSA Sperry College Sailing Women’s National Championship with 170 points. The two-day final, held on the Charleston Harbor and the Cooper River in Charleston, S.C., concludes on Friday.

Following two days of sailing in an 18-boat semifinal, the Georgetown University sailing team advanced to the finals of the 2017 ICSA Sperry College Sailing Women’s National Championship on Wednesday night. The top nine teams from each of two semifinals advanced to the finals, held on the Charleston Harbor and the Cooper River in Charleston, S.C.

Georgetown University midfielder Peter Conley (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) was named a 2017 Division I USILA/Nike Honorable Mention All-American, as announced on Wednesday. Conley becomes the 71st All-American for the Hoyas in program history.



M. Lacrosse. Charlie Ford Selected to 2017 USILA/Nike North-South All-Star Game

Georgetown University senior Charlie Ford (San Carlos, Calif./St. Ignatius) was selected to participate in the 76th Annual USILA/Nike North-South All-Star game, to be played at Providence College’s Chapey Field on Friday, May 26. Ford is the 41st Hoya to be selected for the prestigious game and the fifth under Head Coach Kevin Warne.



Sailing. Georgetown Sailing Ready for 2017 ICSA National Championships

The Georgetown University sailing team will compete in all three spring national championships as part of the 2017 Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) National Championships, held Tuesday, May 23 through Friday, June 2, in Charleston, S.C. All three championships will be hosted by the College of Charleston at the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Center in Mount Pleasant, S.C. The championships are the culmination of two seasons of intense competition and include the top schools from across the nation vying for the championship titles. It is the 10th-straight year the Hoyas have qualified for all three spring national championships.



Baseball. Kuzbel Named to All-BIG EAST First Team; DeRenzi, Weisenberg on Second Team

The Georgetown University baseball team had three of its student-athletes named to the All-BIG EAST Teams, when the conference announced its postseason awards on Tuesday. Jake Kuzbel was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team as a designated hitter, while junior outfielder Michael DeRenzi and sophomore third baseman Ryan Weisenberg both earned spots on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.

Daniel Anderson (Ozark, Mo./Ozark), a graduate who was a four-year member of Georgetown University’s track & field program, was the recipient of the Thomas Francis Graham Award, presented by the Georgetown College. Additionally, Amos Bartelsmeyer (St. Louis, Mo./Saint Louis Country Day), a graduate and four-year member of the track & field / cross country program, was the recipient of the Stephanie Waterman Medal, presented by the School of Foreign Service.
