Georgetown University’s men’s basketball team continued its winning ways on Saturday afternoon as the Hoyas handily defeated the visiting North Carolina A&T Aggies, 83-74, at Capital One Arena. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 8-0 on the season while the Aggies slip to 5-4.

Despite a late surge from the Howard University Bison, Georgetown men's basketball's team held on for the 81-67 win at Capital One Arena on Thursday night. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 7-0 on the year and Howard slips to 1-9. Junior center Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y./Wings Academy) recorded his fifth double-double of the season in the effort.



W. Basketball. Georgetown Drops Decision to Minnesota

The Georgetown University women’s basketball team fell the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers (9-1), 73-63, Thursday evening at McDonough Arena. A late run allowed the Golden Gophers to pull away dropping the Hoyas to 4-4 on the season. It marked the final nonconference home game of the season for the Blue & Gray.



M. Soccer. Lema Named Second Team All-American

Georgetown University men's soccer senior midfielder Christopher Lema (Ridgefield, N.J./Ridgefield Memorial) was named Second Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches on Thursday evening. It is Lema’s first career honor and GU’s first since 2015.



Field Hockey. Shannon Soares Named Associate Athletics Director for Administration and Varsity Sports

Georgetown University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Lee Reed announced the promotion of Shannon Soares to associate athletics director for administration and varsity sports. Soares will step down from her position as head field hockey coach and transition to the newly-created administrative role on Jan. 1, 2018. A national search is currently underway for GU’s next field hockey head coach.



Football. Khristian Tate Named All-ECAC Second Team

Georgetown University football sophomore defensive lineman Khristian Tate was named to the All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Second Team, as announced on Thursday. To be eligible for this honor, which recognizes the top FCS players on the East Coast, a student-athlete must have been an all-conference first team selection.



W. Cross Country; Track & Field. MacDonald Named to Canada's Pan American Junior Cross Country Team

Georgetown University freshman cross country standout Martha MacDonald (Toronto, Ont./Havergal College) was named to Canada's 2018 Pan American Cross Country Team. She earned one of six spots available for the junior women's team last month when she finished fourth overall at the Canadian National Cross Country Championships. MacDonald will represent Canada at the 2018 Pan American Cross Country Cup in San Salvador, El Salvador with the junior women's competition scheduled for February 17, 2018.

Georgetown University men’s soccer junior goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski (Alamo, Calif./De La Salle) signed a Homegrown Player Contract with the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer (MLS) this week. Marcinkowski will forgo his senior season and is officially a member of the Earthquakes.



W. Cross Country; Track & Field. Georgetown Women Open Indoor Track & Field Season at Navy Lid Lifter

Georgetown University’s women’s track & field team opened the season at the Navy Lid Lifter, winning six events and setting one new facility record. The season opener, held at the Wesley Brown Field House in Annapolis, Maryland, served as the women’s lone indoor meet during 2017 and was an impressive performance for the Hoya squad.
