Recent Georgetown University graduate and baseball alum Simon Mathews (C’17) signed a free agent contract on Wednesday morning with the Los Angeles Angels. He will begin his professional career immediately in the Angels’ minor league system.

Rising senior Molly Fitzpatrick has been named a College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American Honorable Mention. Additionally, the Georgetown University men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams were both Scholar All-America selections, when the honors were awarded by the CSCAA on Tuesday.



M. Tennis. Dolehide Named Tennis Assistant Coach

Georgetown University Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach Gordie Ernst has named Courtney Dolehide the new assistant coach for both squads for the 2017-18 school year. Dolehide comes to the Hilltop from the University of Texas where she was an assistant coach for three seasons. Dolehide will assist Ernst in all aspects of both the men’s and women’s programs.

The Georgetown University men’s track & field / cross country program finishes the year in sixth place in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division I John McDonnell Program of the Year Award standings, as announced by the coaches association on Tuesday. The updated standings were announced following the 2017 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships that saw the Hoya men tie for 12th place (18 points), the best team finish since 1991 behind a trio of top-five performances. The Hoya men picked up three First Team All-America distinctions in a pair of events.

Football. John Bear Joins Georgetown Football as Running Backs Coach

Georgetown University Football Head Coach Rob Sgarlata has announced the addition of John Bear to the coaching staff. Bear, who will work with the Hoyas’ running backs under offensive coordinator Michael Neuberger, has 11 years of collegiate coaching experience and has coached three different position groups, six All-Americans and four current NFL players.



W. Rowing. Nine Hoyas Garner CRCA Recognition
