The Georgetown University men’s tennis team had an outstanding weekend at the Joe Hunt Invitational hosted by the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. The squad saw three singles players win their flights as well as two doubles teams from the Hilltop.

W. Soccer. Farrell’s Late Goal Lifts No. 15 Georgetown Past St. John’s, 1-0

Time and time throughout the game, the 15th-ranked Georgetown women’s soccer team appeared ready to take a lead in its BIG EAST Conference opener against St. John’s, but could not capitalize. Finally, in the 81st minute, junior forward Caitlin Farrell (Wallingford, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) capitalized on a mistake by the Red Storm and scored, lifting the Hoyas to a 1-0 win on a sunny and warm Sunday afternoon on Shaw Field.

Field Hockey. Georgetown loses to Longwood, 4-1

The Georgetown University field hockey team (5-5, 0-2 BIG EAST) lost to Longwood University on Sunday afternoon at the Longwood Athletics Complex. The Hoyas lost 4-1 to the Lancers, advancing the Lancers to 8-1 overall.

The No. 16 Georgetown University men's soccer squad avoided overtime, receiving late heroics from freshman forward Derek Dodson (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) in a 2-1 victory over the DePaul University Blue Demons in a BIG EAST Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at Wish Field. Dodson scored both goals in the victory, including the game winner in the 89th minute, to improve the Blue & Gray to 6-1-1 overall and 1-1 in league play.

W. Cross Country; Track & Field. No. 25 GU Women's Cross Country Competes at 2017 Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown

The No. 25 Georgetown women's cross country team traveled to Boston, Mass., for the 2017 Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown on Friday. The squad managed a 21-second spread among its top five runners in a field that included No. 7 Providence as well as No. 18 Indiana. The Blue & Gray tied the No. 18 Hoosiers with 78 points apiece but IU managed the edge in the tiebreaker and the Hoyas finished third.
