Women's Golf Finishes Ninth in Rain-Shortened Citrus Challenge

Senior Alyssa Morahan climbed 20 spots in the individual standings in the second round that spanned both Monday into Tuesday to lead the Western Carolina women's golf team to a ninth-place finish at the weather-shortened MSU Citrus Challenge contested at the RedTail Golf Club. On-going weather-related issues prompted officials to conclude the event at 36 holes, 18 shy of its scheduled 54-hole format.

Second Round of MSU Citrus Challenge Suspended by Rain

Monday's second round of the MSU Citrus Challenge women's golf tournament at the RedTail Golf Club was suspended due to weather. Play was slowed by a trio of rain delays, the latter prompting event officials to suspend play until Tuesday.

White, Plummer Pace Women's Golf at MSU Citrus Challenge

Underclassmen led the way for Western Carolina women's golf through the opening 18 holes of the MSU Citrus Challenge on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Maya White sits in a tie for 20th overall while sophomore Brianna Plummer sits in a tie for 25th a stroke back to lead the Catamounts to 10th place after 18 of the scheduled 54 holes at the par-72, 5,929-yard RedTail Golf Club.

Catamount Golf Teams Return to Action this Weekend

Western Carolina's men's and women's golf teams both return to action this weekend in a pair of out-of-state tournaments. The Catamount men travel to Phoenix, Ariz., for the GCU Intercollegiate, hosted by Grand Canyon University, while the women's squad travels to Sorrento, Fla., for the MSU Citrus Classic, hosted by Morehead State.

Floberg Leads WCU Women's Golf at River Landing Classic

Western Carolina women's golf posted its second-best team round of the spring season on Tuesday, shooting 307 collectively as a team to finish the River Landing Classic in 14th-place overall at the par-72, 6,082-yard River Landing Golf Club with a three-round score of 961.

The Western Carolina women's golf team concluded two rounds of play on Monday at the River Landing Classic, hosted by UNC Wilmington at the par-72, 6,082-yard River Landing Golf Club. The Catamounts finished the first day in 14th place after carding consecutive team rounds of 327 for a two-round total of 654.

Western Carolina women's golf finished its spring-opening event in 39th place overall at the Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Classic, the largest collegiate women's golf tournament in the nation. Senior Alyssa Morahan paced the Catamount scoring five, finishing tied for 102nd overall in the final standings.

Western Carolina senior Alyssa Morahan posted a team-best round of 1-over par, 73, on Monday to jump 41 positions in the overall standings as the Catamounts advanced two spots in the team standings. WCU fired a season-best team round of 306 to move into 37th overall with 18 holes to play at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic while Morahan moved into a nine-way tie for 82nd overall with a two-day total of 151.

Women's Golf Completes Opening Round at Kiawah Island

Western Carolina women's golf carded a team score of 324 on Sunday to sit in 39th overall at the Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Spring Classic being held between the Oak Point and Osprey Point Courses. Catamount senior Alyssa Morahan and freshman Maya White are both tied for 123rd overall after posting matching scores of 6-over par, 78, in Sunday's opening round.

Catamount Women's Golf to Open Spring at Kiawah Island

The Western Carolina Catamount women's golf team returns to action to open the spring portion of its 2017-18 schedule beginning Sunday, Feb. 25 at the 2017 Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Spring Classic being contested on both the Osprey Point and Oak Point courses at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Kiawah Island, S.C. This year marks WCU's first trip to the annual event since March, 2015.
