M. Tennis. San Diego Topples Santa Clara, 4-0

The Toreros ended their regular season with a defeat over Santa Clara on their home courts Sunday. The men won the doubles point then quickly clinched the win in singles play, earning a 4-0 shutout. The Toreros improved to 14-10 overall and 6-3 in conference. The Broncos fell to 14-7 overall and 4-5 in WCC.



Softball. Toreros drop 7-3 decision to Santa Clara

The USD Toreros softball team, playing their final regular-season home contest, dropped a 7-3 decision to visiting Santa Clara. Despite the loss, with yesterday's doubleheader sweep, the Toreros have now won three straight WCC series.



W. Track. Hughes & Kapple top two more school records

For the second week in a row, Sarah Kapple and Andrea Hughes rewrote the Torero track record book. Kapple, who set a record in the 3,000 steeplechase last week, set the new mark in the 800m with a time of 2:13.71. Hughes set a new record in the 5k a week ago and now is also the record holder in the 3k after she finished in 9:54.97 at the Triton Invite Saturday.



Softball. Toreros sweep doubleheader against Santa Clara, 3-1 and 2-1

The USD softball team (20-17, 6-2 WCC) swept today's West Coast Conference doubleheader against Santa Clara by scores of 3-1 and 2-1. Senior RHP Megan Sabbatini pitched back-to-back complete games to improve her season record to 10-9 and a team-best eight complete games.



Baseball. Toreros rally falls short in 12-8 loss to BYU

The No. 19 Toreros’ (27-11, 13-5) rally fell short against BYU (22-14, 11-4) Saturday afternoon as USD lost 12-8 to the Cougars. After falling behind 6-0 in the second inning, USD scored eight unanswered runs to take the lead only to see the Cougars post their second six run inning of the game in the seventh inning on their way to a 12-8 win to take the series.



W. Tennis. The Toreros Win Their Last Regular Season Match, 4-0

The Toreros grab another win in conference play on the road against Santa Clara, 4-0. San Diego improved to 10-12 overall and 6-3 in conference play while the Broncos fell 7-12 and 2-6 in conference play.



M. Golf. Toreros place 8th at WCC Men's Golf Championships

The USD men's golf team fired a final round team score of 288 today at the 2017 West Coast Conference Championships being played at the Riverside Country Club (par 72, yardage 7063). USD's three-day total of 867 placed them 8th overall, just two strokes back of both San Francisco and LMU.



Baseball. Toreros lose wild one, fall to BYU 9-8 in extra innings

The game, which has the feeling of postseason baseball, lasted four hours and 20 minutes, featured 32 combined hits and 29 runners left on base. The Toreros held leads of 6-1 and 7-3, but the Cougars rallied to tie the game at 7-7 in the top of the eighth. USD responded and took a one-run lead in the bottom of the eighth only to see the Cougars respond again and send the game to extra innings.



M. Tennis. Toreros Defeat USF at Home in 4-0 Shutout

The Toreros hosted a double header on Friday afternoon against USF and UNLV. San Diego toppled their conference competitor, USF, 4-0 in the first match, but lost to UNLV 4-3 in the second. The Toreros improved to 13-9 overall and 5-3 in conference.



W. Tennis. The Toreros Clinch a Spot in the WCC Tournament After a Win Against USF, 4-2

The Toreros successfully clinched a spot in the WCC Tournament next week after they defeated University of San Francisco Friday afternoon. The Toreros improved to 9-12 overall and 5-3 in conference while the Dons fells to 5-15 overall and 2-6 in conference.



M. Golf. Toreros tied for 5th at WCC Men’s Golf Championships

The USD men’s golf team is competing in the 2017 West Coast Conference Championships at the Riverside Country Club in Provo, Utah. After day two, the Toreros moved up one spot into a tie for 5th with Pacific and LMU, and find themselves just one shot back of 4th place Santa Clara.



Baseball. Toreros take game one, beat BYU 6-3

The No. 19 USD baseball team (27-9, 13-3) knocked off BYU 6-3 to win their season-high seventh game in a row Thursday evening at Fowler Park. Nick Sprengel was spectacular, pitching eight shutout innings of five hit ball while striking out seven batters. Roman Garcia and Brhet Bewley each had two RBI.

W. Tennis. Toreros Play Last Two Matches of the Regular Season

The Toreros get ready for their last two matches of the regular season this weekend. The women head to San Francisco Friday to play USF then travel to Santa Clara on Saturday. USD holds a 8-12 record and is 4-3 in conference play.
