Rebels Hurt By Long Ball In Tuesday's Loss

The UNLV baseball team (3-5) was on the wrong end of an 11-9 decision to the UC Riverside Highlanders (5-2) at Earl E. Wilson Stadium Tuesday night. Despite outhitting their opponent by one, 15-14, the Rebels were unable to overcome a trio of three-run home runs by the Highlanders en route to a loss in the opener of the two-game, midweek series.

The UNLV baseball team (3-4) will close out its nine-game homestand Tuesday and Wednesday against the UC Riverside Highlanders (4-2) at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. First pitch of Tuesday's affair is scheduled for 6:05 pm while Wednesday's is at 2:05 pm.

The UNLV baseball team (3-4) scattered 10 hits in Sunday’s rubber game against the No. 7 Cal State Fullerton Titans (4-3), but was unable to push across any runs en route to a 5-0 loss. The Titans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening inning and never looked back as their pitching staff only allowed one Rebel to reach third base in the ball game.

The UNLV baseball team (3-3) suffered a 4-1 setback to the No. 7 Cal State Fullerton Titans Saturday at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. The Rebels scored once in the first and that was the only run of the contest until the Titans pushed four across between the seventh and eighth innings.

The UNLV baseball team (3-2) knocked off the No. 7 Cal State Fullerton Titans (2-3), 6-1, Friday night to open the three-game series at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. The Rebels got 5.1 scoreless innings from starting pitcher Alan Strong (2-0) as well as a three RBI from Bryson Stott to defeat the nationally ranked Southern California ball club.

The UNLV baseball team rebounded from Sunday's losses in a big way Monday with a 15-1 victory over the Omaha Mavericks (1-3) at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. The Rebels were led by five innings of shutout pitching from Garrett Poole as well as an offensive combination of seven RBI, five hits and four runs from Nick Ames and Justin Jones.

The schedule for day two of the UNLV Classic has been altered due to inclement weather in the Las Vegas Valley. Saturday's first game between Omaha and UC Davis has been postponed until 8:30 am Sunday morning; however, the Rebels' regularly scheduled affair against Saint Mary's is still slated for a 6:05 pm first pitch tonight.



Rebels Strong In Season Debut, Defeat Omaha 20-3

The Rebel baseball team opened the 2017 season in grand fashion with a 20-3 victory over the Omaha Mavericks in the UNLV Classic Friday evening at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. UNLV overwhelmed the Mavericks early with an offensive onslaught that featured 10 runs off of nine hits through the first two innings. In all, the Scarlet & Gray scattered 21 hits that, in turn, produced 20 runs -- 19 of which were batted in.
