Aggies' postseason runs ends in WNIT 'Sweet 16'

UC Davis junior Rachel Nagel shared game-high honors with 20 points in 25 minutes, and the Aggies used a 13-2 run early in the third quarter to whittle a 14-point deficit down to just three points with 4:55 remaining in the period, but host Washington State got the key baskets when it needed, eventually pulling away for a, 71-62, victory on Thursday night in the "Sweet 16" of the Women's National Invitation Tournament at Beasley Coliseum.

In the midst of final exams, the UC Davis women’s basketball team’s “sweet” run through the 2017 Women’s National Invitation Tournament bracket continues this week as the Aggies (25-7 overall) -- one of 32 women’s basketball programs still playing this season -- head back out on the road to Pullman, Wash., to take on Washington State -- their second Pac-12 opponent of this postseason -- on Thursday (March 23) at 7 p.m.

Nafekh, Bender named Big West Scholar-Athletes of the Year

Junior women’s basketball player Dani Nafekh and senior track & field thrower Matthew Bender were chosen as UC Davis’ representatives for the Big West Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year awards program. Along with honorees from the other member institutions, both Aggies will be recognized at a banquet at the Wyndham Hotel in Garden Grove on Thursday, March 9.
