Sprint Football Set for Exhibition Versus Heroico Colegio Militar

The Navy sprint football team will complete its 2016 season by participating in a weekend of goodwill activities centered around an exhibition football game on Friday versus their collegiate counterparts at the Heroico Colegio Militar (HCM). The Mids and their Mexican military academy opponents will face off on the football field on Friday, Dec. 2 at Rip Miller Field on the grounds of the United States Naval Academy. Pregame festivities are set to begin at 4 p.m. with kickoff slated for 4:30.



18 Navy Sprint Football Players Garner All-CSFL Honors

The Collegiate Sprint Football League announced late Monday its 2016 postseason listing of All-League honorees. Led by its six First Team All-CSFL recipients, the Navy sprint football team had 18 different players earn 19 accolades. Linebacker Nick Abramson (Sr., Walnut Creek, Calif.), running back Brendon Clements (Sr., Miami, Fla.), center Ross Gilchriest (Sr., Silsbee, Texas), safety Kendall Mackey (Sr., Johns Creek, Ga.), defensive lineman Bryant Schlade (Jr., Napoleon, Ohio) and wide receiver Miles Whitlow (So., Clemens, Ala.) all garnered first team nods. In total, 117 league players were recognized across the first, second and honorable mention All-CSFL teams for both offense and defense.



Abramson Named CSFL Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Senior linebacker Nick Abramson (Walnut Creek, Calif.) rounded out Navy sprint football’s 2016 regular season campaign with his selection as the Collegiate Sprint Football League’s Co-Defensive Player of the Week in recognition of his performance in the Mids’ 10-3 victory over Army West Point in Friday night’s Star Game.

Behind a complete team effort the Navy sprint football team earned a gritty 10-3 victory over Army West Point in the two rival service academy's annual Star Game. After a slow start saw the Mids (6-1) fall behind 3-0 in the first quarter and get held to minus-three rushing yards in the first half, a stifling defense and hard-nosed running attack in the second half helped the hosts come from behind for a dramatic 10-3 victory over the Black Knights (5-2) before a boisterous crowd at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Friday night.

Clements Earns Second Consecutive CSFL Weekly Honor

Senior Brendon Clements (Miami, Fla.) won his second straight Collegiate Sprint Football League weekly award as he was recognized on Tuesday for his all-around display on Friday night versus Mansfield. Highlighted by his 106 combined return yards on kickoffs and punts, he was selected as the CSFL Special Teams Player of the Week.

Navy Sprint Football Victorious over Mansfield, 43-9

Video Highlights | The Navy sprint football team used a suffocating defensive effort to walk away from Friday night's contest at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium with a 43-9 victory over Mansfield. The Mids (5-1) held the Mountaineers (0-5) to just 41 yards over the first 53 minutes of a play before a late 74-yard touchdown drive got the visiting team over the 100-yard threshold and into the end zone for the first time all game. On the other side of the ball, a strong all-around game with 224 all-purpose yards by Brendon Clements (Sr., Miami, Fla.) helped lead the Mids to the victory.

In a matchup of the last two remaining undefeated teams in the Collegiate Sprint Football League, overtime was necessary to decide a victor in the Navy-Penn matchup on Friday night. Tied at 23 at the end of regulation, the Penn Quakers (4-0) were able to score first in overtime and then come up with a turnover on Navy's possession to defeat the Mids (3-1) by a score of 29-23 at Franklin Field.
