Thu, 12 Jan 2017 12:11:00 ESTThe Navy men’s lacrosse team returned from the holiday break a week ago with its first practice held on Jan. 5 in preparation for the 2017 season. The Mids will play their first of three preseason scrimmages a week from Saturday (Jan. 21, 11:00 am) when they travel to State College, Pa. to face Penn State. The following week the Mids will make the trek to North Carolina where they will face both the Tar Heels (9:30 am) and Richmond (1:30 pm) in their final preseason tuneup before opening the season on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Johns Hopkins (5:00 pm).
Mon, 19 Dec 2016 14:16:00 ESTPrior to finals, the Navy men's lacrosse team, along with the Mayor of Annapolis Mike Pantelides, spent time with members of the Boys & Girls Club of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County. The team introduced the youth to the game of lacrosse, played catch with the boys and girls, suited them up in Navy game gear, head coach Rick Sowell taught the youngsters about healthy eating habits, MIDN 2/C David Jones led the group in holiday songs and the entire team signed autographs. It was a memorable experience for all!

Additionally, CBS Sports Network will have wall-to-wall coverage of the 2017 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Tournament in April.

Fan voting begins this week and runs through Monday, Dec. 19 (5:00 pm ET). The winners, which will be determined ultimately by the US Lacrosse Magazine staff, will be announced on Dec. 27. Tue, 25 Oct 2016 10:52:00 ESTSixth-year Navy men’s lacrosse coach Rick Sowell announced the Mids’ 2017 schedule on Tuesday which features games against three programs who finished the 2016 campaign ranked among the top 20 in the USILA Coaches Poll and played in the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Navy is on tap to play a 13-game regular-season schedule with six contests to be played on its home field, Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, including the annual Army-Navy game.
