Postseason Action Ahead for Navy at USAG Collegiate Championships

The Navy gymnastics team begins its run of postseason action this weekend with the two-day USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships. Hosted by the University of Washington at Everett Community College’s Walt Price Student Fitness Center, the team championship event will take place on Friday beginning at 5:00 p.m. ET before the competition wraps up on Saturday with the individual event finals starting at 10:00 p.m. ET. Navy will be one of seven teams vying for championship hardware in the Pacific Northwest.

Bradley Garners ECAC Rookie of the Week Nod

The Navy gymnastics team continued its run of collecting weekly honors from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as Frank Bradley (McLean, Va.) made it four straight weeks that a Midshipmen gymnast has won at least one award as the freshman was named the Corvias Rookie of the Week for his performance at Air Force on Friday night.

No. 11 Gymnastics Drops Road Meet at No. 9 Air Force

The Navy gymnastics team concluded its regular season late Friday night with a road loss at Air Force. Competing in the Cadet West Gym, the Mids (10-9) used a lineup heavy on underclassmen and reserves versus the Falcons (10-5) with postseason action just one week away. At the completion of the meet, Air Force was victorious, 407.35-382.9.

Navy Looks for Repeat Performance at Air Force on Friday

Live Video | One week after notching a 404.1-396.3 upset over No. 9 Air Force at home, the No. 11 Navy gymnastics team (10-8) heads to Colorado Springs to face off with the same Falcons (9-5) club on Friday night in the back end of a home-and-home series. The two service academy rivals will face off at the Cadet West Gym beginning at 6:00 p.m. MT (8:00 p.m. ET).

Tang Named CGA National Gymnast of the Week

On Tuesday afternoon it was announced that Jonny Tang (Sr., Malvern, Pa.) was the Collegiate Gymnastics Association National Gymnast of the Week before the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) named him the conference’s Corvias Men’s Gymnast of the Week a short time later. He was joined as an ECAC honoree with teammate Tanner West (Fr., Cypress, Texas), who was selected as the ECAC Specialist of the Week. Tang and West drew the attention of the CGA and ECAC for their respective efforts in Navy’s upset win over No. 9 Air Force on Friday night.

Navy Gymnastics Defeats Air Force and William & Mary on Senior Night

The Navy gymnastics team closed out the home portion of its 2017 schedule with a passionate and precise effort on Friday night in a three-team meet versus Air Force and William & Mary. After celebrating the careers of seniors Jonny Tang (Malvern, Pa.) and team captain Wyatt LaPointe (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) in a pre-meet ceremony, the Mids (10-8) came out before a loud home crowd at Macdonough Hall and defeated the Falcons (8-5) and Tribe (7-4) with a final score of 404.1. Air Force finished second with 396.3 points, while William & Mary was just 0.05 points behind the Falcons with 396.25 points. The win was the first for Navy over Air Force in a regular season meet since the 2009 All-Academy Championships.

Navy Completes 2017 Home Schedule with Tri-Meet on Friday

Live Results | The Navy gymnastics team will close out its home slate of 2017 action on Friday night with a three-team meet at Macdonough Hall. The Mids (8-8) will play host to the Air Force Falcons (7-4) and William & Mary Tribe (7-2) in a 6 p.m. competition. The three teams will be looking to improve their standings in the NCAA rankings as the national championship selection date draws closer. Air Force currently has the ninth-best scoring average at 407.533, while Navy comes in 11th with a 404.7 mark. William & Mary is 14th at 397.383.

Tang and West Earn ECAC Weekly Accolades

Navy Dominates Three-Team Meet at Springfield

The Navy gymnastics team had a convincing response to tough result from Friday night with a 401.9-point showing and two victories in a three-team road meet at Springfield College on Sunday. After falling on the road at William & Mary on Friday, the Mids (8-8) came out on Sunday and lead wire-to-wire with a dominant performance at Blake Arena versus Springfield and Army. The Mids' 401.9 points were 10.5 points better than the Black Knight's 391.4 and 21.4 points more than the Pride's 380.5.

Navy Falls in ECAC Meet at William & Mary

The Navy gymnastics team dropped a road ECAC meet on Friday night at William & Mary. Below-average results in four of its six events plagued the Mids (6-8) as they recorded just 393.5 points versus the host Tribe (7-2), who netted 394.3 points in the meet at Kaplan Arena.

Live Results | One year after facing off with Penn State at the 2016 NCAA Championships, the Navy gymnastics team will welcome one of the most prominent programs in the nation to Macdonough Hall on Saturday afternoon. Beginning at 2:00 p.m., the No. 12 Mids (6-6) and Nittany Lions (8-2) will compete in a non-conference dual meet event. The matchup will be the first dual competition between the two schools in Annapolis since March 9, 2002. The programs have met intermittently since then in multi-team open or invitational events.

Tang Finishes 22nd in All-Around at Winter Cup Challenge

Jonny Tang of the Navy gymnastics team wrapped up competing at the 2017 USA Gymnastics Winter Cup Challenge on Saturday night in Las Vegas. One of 43 gymnasts from across the nation at the prestigious event, Tang was vying for a spot on the 2017 U.S. National Team. At the conclusion of Saturday's finals, Tang finished 22nd overall with a two-day total of 154.00 points.
