He told his teammates he wouldn’t wear his sweater until he earned a Star. But after Terry won the 18th hole of the final match on Sunday to halve the final point, he will finally make that march to retrieve his sweater and Star. The Midshipmen, who held a 3-1 advantage after Saturday’s four-ball matches, won two singles matches and halved two others on Sunday to defeat Army, 6-5, at the West Point Golf Course.

Playing under overcast and damp conditions, the Mids took a 3-1 lead after the four-ball portion of the meet on Saturday. The Ryder Cup format of Army-Navy has the teams play four four-ball matches on the first day and seven singles matches on day two.

The two-day, 36-hole event will be scored as match play, or the more familiar Ryder Cup-style format, with four 4-ball matches played on Saturday (9:00 am) and seven singles matches played on Sunday (9:00 am). The first team to reach six points will be declared the winner.

The 36-hole event is set to begin on Saturday at 8:00 am at the Bucknell Golf Club and will conclude with a second 18 holes on Sunday, also beginning at 8:00 am.
