Navy Crew Collects Pair of Wins at Head of the Potomac

The fall season began for the Navy rowing program on Sunday with the heavyweight and lightweight teams entering and racing 18 boats in the 37th edition of the Head of the Potomac event in Washington, D.C. The Hubbard Hall contingent competed in Club Eight, Open Eight and Open Four races on the 2.8-mile course on the Potomac River and came away with a pair of wins and eight top-three results across the three events. Navy ‘A’ won the Open Eight race, while the Navy ‘F’ boat took the Open Four to highlight Navy’s effort on Sunday.



Crew Starts Fall Slate on Sunday at Head of the Potomac

The Navy heavyweight and lightweight rowing squads will begin their respective fall meet schedules with racing at the 2017 Head of the Potomac event on Sunday, Sept 24. The 37th installment of the regional racing competition will see Navy entrants in three different races, the Club Eight, Open Eight and Open Four. The Club Eight starts the day at 10:10 a.m. before the Open Eight goes off at 12:10 p.m. The Open Four race completes the single-file head rowing action at 1:45 p.m. Between the two Hubbard Hall squads, Navy will be represented with 18 boats in the event.



10 Heavyweight Rowers Earn IRA All-Academic Nods

The Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Board of Stewards recently announced the organization’s 2016-17 All-Academic Team. The Navy heavyweight crew program was recognized with 10 honorees on the IRA’s fifth annual installment of the academic award. May graduates Scott Gibson and Michael Pentaleri and rising seniors Charlie Linder, Nick Street and Eli Wood led the group of 10 as they each are multi-year recipients of the honor.
