Baseball. Hodge & Leins Win PL Weekly Awards; Navy to Play UMBC on Tuesday

Following a strong week of action versus a pair of league opponents, Christian Hodge and Jared Leins were recognized on Monday as the Patriot League Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Hodge left his mark over a four-game span of play versus Bucknell and Army, while Leins closed out the Mids' 2-1 win in game one of Saturday's doubleheader. The Navy baseball team will be back in action on Tuesday evening on the road at UMBC. First pitch between the Mids (31-11) and the Retrievers (13-20) is set for 6 p.m. at Alumni Field in Baltimore.

W. Lacrosse. Collins, Larkin Named Patriot League Athletes of the Week

Senior midfielder Jenna Collins (Clarksville, Md.) and sophomore attacker Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) were named Patriot League Athletes of the Week, as announced by the conference office. Collins was tabbed the Midfielder of the Week, while Larkin earned Attacker of the Week accolades.

M. Lacrosse. Ray and Varello Garner Weekly Patriot League Honors

Navy lacrosse player Jack Ray and Joe Varello and were named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and Faceoff Specialist of the Week, respectively after guiding the Midshipmen to a spectacular 13-12 upset victory over #9 Syracuse Saturday at the Carrier Dome. In addition to the Navy tandem, Loyola's Foster Huggins (defense) and Boston University's Chris Gray (rookie) and Joe McSorley (goalkeeper) were among those players recognized by the league office on Monday as Patriot League Players of the Week at their respective positions.

Offshore Sailing. Offshore Sailing Competes in the NASS Spring Race

The Navy varsity offshore sailing team had seven boats entered in the NASS Spring Race held this past Saturday on the Chesapeake off of Annapolis. Although conditions were light, two races were run for each class.

M. Lacrosse. Varello Headlines Navy's List of Men's Lacrosse All-League Selections

Six members of the second-seeded Navy men's lacrosse team were named to the 2018 All-Patriot League Team announced Monday, including Joe Varello (Sr / Kings Park, N.Y.) who was named the Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Year. Three of Navy's six all-league selections were named to the 17-player first team, while five are first-time winners of postseason accolades.

W. Tennis. Women's Tennis Falls to Army West Point in the Patriot League Championship Match, 4-2

The top-seeded Navy women's tennis team (27-6) fell to second-seeded Army West Point (21-6), 4-2, in the 2018 Patriot League Women's Tennis Championship match on Sunday at Army's outdoor Malek Tennis Center.

W. Golf. Women's Golf Places Second at the Patriot League Championship

The Navy women's golf team was the runner-up at the 2018 Patriot League Women's Golf Championship this Saturday and Sunday at the par-72, 6,085-yard Naval Academy Golf Club. Navy and Richmond entered the third and final round tied for first place, but Richmond bested Navy by just three strokes on Sunday to claim a third-straight league title.

M. Track & Field. Track and Field Ends Meets with 24 Qualifying Marks

The Navy track and field team concluded competition at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va. and the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J. on Saturday, April 21. The Midshipmen tallied 24 ECAC / IC4A qualifying times / marks, while posting five performances that rank in the Navy all-time top-10, including breaking the school record in the women's 4x400m relay.

M. Gymnastics. Quartet of Navy Gymnasts Conclude Season in NCAA Championship Finals

The Navy gymnastics program wrapped up a successful 2018 campaign with four athletes participating in the NCAA Championship Finals on Saturday night at the UIC Pavilion. One night after finishing 11th in the NCAA Championship Qualifying Meet as a team, the Mids were represented in the premier collegiate championship event by David Toussaint on the pommel horse, Trevor North on the parallel bars, and Frank Bradley and Lucas Beltran on the vault.

Heavyweight Rowing. #16 Heavyweight Crew Races Against #5 Harvard and #15 Penn

The Navy heavyweight crew team competed on Saturday in a three-team event at home on the Severn River. Taking to the 2,000-meter course, the 16th-ranked Mids duked it out with the fifth-ranked Harvard Crimson and 15th-ranked Penn Quakers. The Adams Cup for the first varsity race and the Clothier Cup for the team points competition were on the line on Saturday.

W. Rowing. Navy Races Versus Two Ivy League Opponents on Saturday

The Navy women's rowing team had a solid showing as a guest at the 2018 Dunn Bowl competition at the Cayuga Lake Inlet in Ithaca, New York on Saturday. Racing against the host Cornell Big Red and No. 11 Brown University Bears, the Mids claimed three second-place performances amongst a five-race slate.

Baseball. Navy Wins 2018 Star with Doubleheader Sweep of Army on Saturday

Riding the high from a stellar performance on Friday night at Fenway Park, the Navy baseball team claimed the 2018 Baseball Star in emphatic fashion on Saturday at West Point with a come-from-behind, 2-1 victory in game one and a dominant 9-0 shutout in the second game. Needing just one win to claim the Star on Saturday at Johnson Stadium at Doubleday Field, the Mids (31-11, 15-6 PL) rattled off three consecutive two-out hits in their final regulation at bat to overtake the Black Knights (22-17, 12-5 PL) and secure the one-run win. The proverbial icing on the cake to Navy's day and weekend series sweep was a 9-0 win in game two that saw Sean Kamhoot hold Army to one hit over seven innings, while the Mids' offense cranked out six extra-base hits, including home runs by Christian Hodge and Jacob Williamson.
