SFA had a whole team effort against the Lions, a feat that has not happened yet this season. All 13 players scored within the 40 minutes, and the SFA bench scored a season-high 54 points. The Ladyjacks were led in points by senior Taylor Ross, who had 19, but the story of the night was Freshman Lovisa Brunnberg who scored a career-high 18 points this afternoon. Brunnberg had a game-high five triples from seven attempts. She also went 6-9 from the field and went 1-2 at the free-throw line. Redshirt junior Stevi Parker was the third Ladyjack in double figures. She was one rebound shy of her eleventh career double-double. She posted 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds. As a team, the Ladyjacks outrebounded the Lions 46-29. The SFA defense forced 18 turnovers, and scored 29 points off those possessions. The Ladyjacks shot 50.8 percent from the field, their sixth game this season to be over 50 percent. They also shot 50.0 percent from beyond the arc and 72.0 percent at the charity stripe.

After the loss to Abilene Christian earlier in the week, SFA has fallen to fourth in the conference standings with Lamar passing them at 11-3, Abilene Christian, now 11-2, and Central Arkansas owns the top with a 12-2 record. The Ladyjacks are still the top scoring offense in the Southland after this week’s conference play. They are averaging 75.9 points per game, and lead the conference in free-throw makes and attempts (381/540).

The stakes were high in the match-up between the two schools tied for second place in conference play. Redshirt junior Stevi Parker totaled a career high 31 points and 18 rebounds. The Bixby, Okla. native also completed her seventh double-double this season and career tenth. She was on fire beyond the arc going 4-7, also a career high, 9-15 from the field, and 9-10 at the free-throw line. Senior Taylor Ross was the only other Ladyjack in double-digits with 20 points, going 100 percent, 4-4, at the charity stripe. Senior Adrienne Lewis totaled nine points and six rebounds.

Austin won out the first match up against Abilene Christian earlier this season, 70-61, but this round will be two completely different teams fighting for title contention as they now have had eight more games of experience and maturity under their belt. The game back in January was the seventh time the two teams have clashed. The first several times these teams met where back in the 1970s, and then Abilene Christian joined the Southland Conference in 2013. Since then, SFA is 3-1 against ACU. In 2015, the Wildcats upset the Ladyjacks, 85-70, with a whirlwind of a 25-7 run in the fourth to nab the game for ACU. In game one of this season, SFA had the Fiercesome Four of Branch, Ross, Parker, and Lewis all score in the double-digits. SFA had a fast paced first half that gave the Ladyjacks the early lead, 32-15, and with some help from the SFA bench, the Ladyjacks neatly sealed the game 70-61.

SFA dominated the game for 33:58 minutes, and only allowed the lead to change three times. The “fiercesome four” were at it again tonight with all four making double-digit points. Both senior Adrienne Lewis and Stevi Parker had double-doubles on the night. Parker had her season sixth and career ninth double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds, ten of those of the defensive side. Lewis had her second double-double of the season and fifth of her career, posting 10 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Ross, now with 11 straight 20+ point game, completed the night with 21 points going 6-10 from the field and 7-11 at the line. Senior Brentney Branch rounded out the Ladyjacks in double figures with 10 points and three assists. As a team, the Ladyjacks had a terrific rebounding game, thanks to Lewis and Parker. SFA outrebounding the Cardinals 52-38, a season-high for the Ladyjacks. SFA shot 26-61 (42.6%) from the field and 16-29 (55.2%) at the free throw line. The SFA defense held Lamar to 37.7 field goal percentage and 47.4 percent at the charity stripe.

Lamar is tied, 10-2, with Central Arkansas after their win against Sam Houston on Thursday. SFA is tied in second, 9-2, with Abilene Christian after SFA's win over Nicholls, and ACU's loss to Central Arkansas on Wednesday night.

The Houston, Texas native joined the ranks of the 1,000 point club after she completed 26 points, six from beyond the arc, against the Colonels. She now totals 1,007 points on her career at SFA.

With the loss in overtime against rival Northwestern State last Saturday, SFA has been pushed back into fourth place in the Southland Conference rankings. Despite all this, the Ladyjacks have moved up several places in statistical rankings as well as had some career performances. Their won-lost percentage of 81 percent has kept the Ladyjacks at 20th in the national standings. After shooting 80 percent from the free-throw line once again, the Ladyjacks are 15th on the NCAA lists for makes and attempts at the charity stripe. The SFA defense continues to pound their opponents as they have moved up the scales to sixth in the nation for turnovers forced (22.29) and are 16th for steals per game (11.5).

The Ladyjacks had a terrific first half pulling a 13 point lead at the end of the second quarter, but Northwestern State came out determined from the locker room and overwhelmed the Ladyjacks forcing the game to go into overtime. Senior Taylor Ross and sophomore Kennedy Harris added points in overtime, but the Lady Demons won out 76-72. Three Ladyjacks were in double-digits this afternoon. Ross totaled her ninth 20 point game of the season, posting 24 points, five rebounds, and six assists. Harris broke her career high points totaling 16 points and four rebounds. Senior Brentney Branch also had 16 points and five assists. Redshirt junior Stevi Parker led the Ladyjacks on the boards pulling down 10 rebounds, all on the defensive side, and putting up five points. As a team, the Ladyjacks outrebounded the Lady Demons 39-33 and forced 18 turnovers. SFA, unfortunately, shot 39.1 percent from the field this afternoon, their lowest since the start of conference play. However, at the free-throw line they were on mark going 13-15 (86.7%).

Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. The Ladyjacks are coming off a second half comeback over Sam Houston during Thursday night’s game. The win puts SFA back in the win streak column with two wins over New Orleans and now SHSU. SFA is now 16th in the nation for their won-lost percentage, but fell to 26th and 21st on the NCAA lists for free-throw makes and attempts after only getting the chance to go 12 for 16 at the line during the Sam Houston game. The Ladyjacks are still ranked highly for their defense in turnovers forced and steals per game.

The Ladyjacks had a tough first half posting only 12-40 shots from the field (30.0%), but found their stride completing an 83-63 win over the Bearkats. The ball began to fall for SFA in the second half allowing SFA to pullout 30-71 (42.3%) from the field and going 12-16 (75%) at the charity stripe. The Ladyjacks posted 32 points from within the paint and 15 points off second chances. Two Ladyjacks collected 20 points on the night, senior Brentney Branch and senior Taylor Ross. Branch had a career night putting up seven three-points for 25 total points in the game. Redshirt junior Stevi Parker finished with her eighth career and fifth season double-double posting 10 points and 14 rebounds. Ross was one assist short of a double-double. She had 21 points and nine assists. Freshman Lovisa Brunnberg also posted six points, tying her career high triples with two from beyond the arc.

Austin Women’s Basketball continues to break thresholds this season after the CBS College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 announced this week’s list, putting SFA at 22nd amongst schools like New Mexico State, Stetson, and Troy. They received a tremendous 103 votes this week to put them further up the charts. This dynamic squad is back up to 17th in the nation for their win-loss percentage (84.2), after dropping to 21st with the loss against Central Arkansas. SFA is ranked 19th and 16th on the NCAA lists for free throws makes and attempts, respectfully, and they still hold on tight to the seventh place ranking for turnovers forced, and are back up to 14th for steals per game in the nation.

SFA had their seventh 80 plus point game in conference play on Saturday with the 88-61 win over the Privateers. The “fierce-some four” were at it again totaling 62 of SFA’s 88 points. Senior Taylor Ross had her seventh 20 point game night with eight assists and five rebounds. Redshirt junior Stevi Parker posted 16 points and three rebounds, while, senior Brentney Branch totaled 15 points, going 3-7 beyond the arc. Senior Adrienne Lewis was one rebound shy of a double-double. The six-foot one center grabbed nine rebounds and put up 10 points. The SFA defense was at it again forcing 24 turnovers and 19 steals, a season high against a conference opponent. They kept New Orleans to only 23-63 from the field (36.5%). The SFA Ladyjacks shot over 50 percent from the field for the fourth game in a row. They shot 32-61 (52.5%) from the field and 18-23 (78.3%) at the free-throw line.
