SFA wraps up season in the South Central Regional

The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's cross country teams finished up their season at the Regional meet Friday afternoon. Out of the 20 teams that ran for team results, SFA finished eighth on the women's side and twelfth on the men's.

Cross Country heads to South Central Region Championships

The Stephen F. Austin Cross Country teams will be running for a National Qualifying position in the South Central Regional Meet held in Fayetteville, Ark. University of Arkansas is hosting the meet at their on-campus course named the Agri Park. It is one of the view universities in North America with its own dedicated cross country course. The first event at the Park was in 1996, and hasn’t changed much until the addition of the 6,000 meter course in 2000.

Mathenge, Preston, Surratt, and Clark honored in Cross Country Post Season Awards.

Stephen F. Austin senior Charles Mathenge was named 2016 Southland Conference Athlete of the Year following his impressive individual win for the men’s side in this year’s championship race in Nacogdoches, Texas, the league announced Thursday afternoon. Redshirt freshman Brandt Preston earned Male Freshman of the Year honors and Freshman Taryn Surratt was chosen as the Female Freshman of the Year. As well as, Head Coach Cody Clark wins the Women’s Coach of Year honors.

SFA Women Take Southland Conference Championship Title and Men Finish Runner-Up

A terrific turnout out at Pecan Acres this Friday morning. The weather was terrific, the fans were loud, and the results were outstanding. The SFA women continued to show their dominance on the course, as they packed up together placing all five finisher in top 12 spots. The Ladyjacks blew away the competition with a 48 point finish, less than half the second place team Sam Houston with 106 points. On the men side, the Lumberjacks had the top first, third and sixth overall finishers, and the team finished as the Runner-Up Champion with 62 points behind Lamar.

SFA Hosts SLC Championships at Pecan Acres Park

The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete in the 2016 Southland Conference Championships, hosted by SFA at Pecan Acres Park, on Friday morning. The men will race first in the 8,000 meter races at 8:30 a.m. CT, followed by the women 6,000 meter races at 9:30 a.m. CT.

Stephen F. Austin's men's and women's Cross Country teams took a short trip out to College Station this afternoon for the Aggieland Open. Both team raced against six other schools from the Texas and Louisiana areas, and both came out in front of the competition.

The Lumberjacks will be competing at the Aggieland Open on the Dale Watts Course in College Station. The event will kick off with the women’s 5K at 5:00 p.m., and the men’s 8K will follow right after at 5:30 p.m.

SFA Men's and Women's Both Place Fourth in OSU Jamboree

Stephen F. Austin's men's and women's Cross Country teams took a trip North for the OSU Cowboy Jamboree Saturday morning. SFA competed in the University division on both sides. The women competed against six other teams and the men were up against seven other teams. Oklahoma State took first place with 24 team points on the men's side, and Tulsa was awarded first for the women's with a team score of 20 points.

SFA Cross Country will traveling to their third meet of the year in Stillwater, Okla. The Oklahoma State Cross Country Course is the oldest cross country race in the country. The SFA men and women get a chance to race in the Cowboy Jamboree, which dates back to 1937.
