Thu, 10 Nov 2016 11:22:00 ESTThe Stephen F. Austin Cross Country teams will be running for a National Qualifying position in the South Central Regional Meet held in Fayetteville, Ark. University of Arkansas is hosting the meet at their on-campus course named the Agri Park. It is one of the view universities in North America with its own dedicated cross country course. The first event at the Park was in 1996, and hasn’t changed much until the addition of the 6,000 meter course in 2000.

Austin senior Charles Mathenge was named 2016 Southland Conference Athlete of the Year following his impressive individual win for the men’s side in this year’s championship race in Nacogdoches, Texas, the league announced Thursday afternoon. Redshirt freshman Brandt Preston earned Male Freshman of the Year honors and Freshman Taryn Surratt was chosen as the Female Freshman of the Year. As well as, Head Coach Cody Clark wins the Women’s Coach of Year honors.
Fri, 28 Oct 2016 13:59:00 ESTA terrific turnout out at Pecan Acres this Friday morning. The weather was terrific, the fans were loud, and the results were outstanding. The SFA women continued to show their dominance on the course, as they packed up together placing all five finisher in top 12 spots. The Ladyjacks blew away the competition with a 48 point finish, less than half the second place team Sam Houston with 106 points. On the men side, the Lumberjacks had the top first, third and sixth overall finishers, and the team finished as the Runner-Up Champion with 62 points behind Lamar.

Austin men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete in the 2016 Southland Conference Championships, hosted by SFA at Pecan Acres Park, on Friday morning. The men will race first in the 8,000 meter races at 8:30 a.m. CT, followed by the women 6,000 meter races at 9:30 a.m. CT.
