SFA claimed nine individual titles, as well as the men’s team finishing first with 190 points, 50 over the second place host Texas State. The women’s team finished in second with 178 points. Individual leaders where senior Derek Orlando in the men’s hammer, sophomore Isaiah Pittman in men’s long jump, senior Shelby Pesek in the women’s 3000-meter steeple chase, junior Larry Deramus in the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase, sophomore Trenton Bridges in the men’s discus, senior Rana Ryan in the women’s 1,500-meter, freshman Imani Nave in the women’s 100-meter, junior Kerry Gleason in the men’s 400-meter hurdles, and the men’s 4x100 relay squad.

The three-year old stadium held the annual Michael Johnson Invitational, hosted by Baylor University, over the span of Saturday, April 23.

The team heads to Waco this Saturday to compete at the Michael Johnson Invitational hosted by Baylor University. The meet will be held in the Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium for the third time since the opening of the track in 2014.

SFA sent group of athletes out to California to partake in the 59th Mt. SAC Relays, as well as the Bryan Clay Invitational. The SFA pole vaulting squad took the shorter trip back to Austin for the Texas Invitational.

Sat, 08 Apr 2017 20:52:00 EDTJunior Aaron Piper had an outstanding run in Saturday to wrap up the final day of the Skechers Performance Carl Kight Invitational. The native out of Ducanville, Texas has been a 100-meter and 200-meter star qualified last year in for the NCAA Division I West Preliminaries after hitting a personal record of 10.58. Today, the junior struck 0.4 of a second off his time to rewrite the Fletcher Garner Track Facilities record along with fellow competitor Oraine Palmer from Wiley College. Palmer out stepped Piper to claim the first place title with a time of 10.17, while Piper was a 10.19 second run. The mark is a new personal record for Piper, placing him as the sixth best in the nation.

Sat, 01 Apr 2017 23:02:00 EDTThe story of SFA's journey of the 2017 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays was the women's 4x400-meter relay squad, who qualified for the final race for back-to-back years at the Relays. Two of the Lumberjacks, Tiffany Williams and Aliyah Davis were part of the 2016 relay team that finished eighth in the competition. This year the team of Imani Nave, Tiffany Williams, Chelsi Gill, and Aliyah Davis squad qualified once again for a chance at the Texas Relays title in the final race of the night. The Lumberjacks, the only Southland conference school in the race, finished with a time of 3:48.32, placing them ninth overall.

The women’s 4x400 squad was the story of the day for the sprint relays. The team of Imani Nave, Tiffany Williams, Chelsi Gill, and Aliyah Davis finished with a time of 3:43.71. They earned a second place finish in the heat behind the first place overall qualifier Oklahoma. The Lumberjacks claimed the ninth qualifying spot to advance to the final race on Saturday.

Austin Track and Field squad will partake in the world-famous Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, who is celebrating their 90th anniversary of the meet, inside the Mike A. Myers Stadium. The Lumberjacks will have a handful of student-athletes competing in Austin, while another small group will be jumping over to the west coast for the Distance Carnival hosted by UCLA.
