At this meet, SFA’s third indoor of the season, the Lumberjacks set six new personal records and junior Taylor Anderson claimed SFA’s lone individual title in the 3000m race.
Thu, 09 Feb 2017 09:35:00 ESTThe Stephen F. Austin Track and Field team has the pleasure of competing in the newly built Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. The Dunamis Sports Club will be hosting their first Indoor Track College Classic on Feb. 9 and 10 in the Dallas Cowboys’ indoor practice arena. The event will feature 25 collegiate teams including schools from Conference USA, the Big 12, Sunbelt Conference, as well as SFA’s Southland Conference. It is estimated that over 3,000 athletes will participate in what is being considered the largest indoor track meet ever to take place in Texas.

Austin on Friday night in Colorado when the temperatures dropped in the lower 30s, but the Lumberjacks were running red hot on the field as they claimed seven individual titles and broke 13 personal records. SFA was invited up to compete in the Air Force Team Challenge on Friday, February 3, 2017.

SFA is one of four teams that will be taking part of the sixth-annual Air Force Challenge. The others are Long Beach State, Grand Canyon, and USAF Academy. The meet is slated to take place in the Cadet Field House with the field events starting at 4:00 p.m., while the running events get underway at 5:00 p.m.
Sat, 28 Jan 2017 22:16:00 ESTStephen F. Austin men’s and women’s teams traveled to Houston this weekend for the Houston Invitational and Multis competition, hosted by the University of Houston. Things got started on Friday afternoon, Jan. 27, with the women’s throw beginning at 10:00 a.m. Junior Kami Stockett led the Lumberjacks in the throwers ring with a new personal best, 15.11m (49-07.00) weight throw that landed her in 11th place. Her teammate sophomore Tierra Wilson also broke her personal record of 15.06m (49-05.00) that put her right behind Stockett at 12th. The other field events finished later that afternoon. For the men, sophomore Isaiah Pittman finished 5th in the long jump invitational event with a distance of 7.22m (23-08.25). In the weight throw, senior Lucas Akins threw a 17.77m (58-03.75) which landed him in sixth. Junior Ben Bibby, freshman Trenton Bridges, and David Castillo took a group effort and finished close at 11th, 12th, and 13th respectively.
Thu, 26 Jan 2017 11:26:00 ESTStephen F. Austin's Men's and Women's teams head to the Houston Invitational this weekend for the second meet of the 2017 Indoor season. The meet will take place inside the Yeoman Field House over the course of Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27-28. The field of competition includes 14 universities with four other Southland opponents as well as three other big schools: Houston, Rice, and UTSA. For the heptathlon and pentathlon competitions there will be some international play with the addition of several athletes from the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, Mexico.

The Garrison native started the 2017 Indoor Multi’s season with a bang and the effort landed him Southland Conference recognition, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Austin's third time to compete at the Crossplex. Last year, then redshirt sophomore Hunter Key took second place for the heptathlon, and then junior Madeline Kaufmann took third.

The Lumberjack men's and women's finished above Southland conference opponent Abilene Christian, but could not garner enough points to top Texas, Baylor, and Texas A&M. The women finished sixth with 28 points, and the men were fourth with 67.5 points.

Both the men's and women's teams will be traveling west for the meet on Saturday, Jan. 14th. Teams that will be competing are Texas A&M, Abilene Christian, Baylor, Stephen F. Austin, Texas, Texas State, UT-Arlington, and UT-San Antonio.
