The three-day meet will take place at the Park West Athletics Complex and is hosted by the University of Texas San Antonio.

SFA placed 30 student-athletes in top five places and place five within the top two, but could not gasp that coveted individual title.

Austin Track and Field team will be kicking off their 2017 outdoor season at the TCU Invitational this weekend, March 17-18, at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex. SFA will be aiming to work hard this season towards a third straight Southland Track and Field Title after finishing first in the men’s competition and third on the women’s side in 2016.
Wed, 15 Mar 2017 20:29:00 EDTStephen F. Austin's Track Multi-Event student-athletes began their 2017 season with the Shirley Crowe Multi-Event hosted by Rice University. SFA sent nine athletes to Houston, including the SLC Indoor second and third place finishers junior Hunter Key and sophomore Connor Wilbur. After the two days of competition, Wilbur claimed third in the decathlon with 6267, followed by Bradley Beaty in fourth, and Tanner Parks in sixth. For the women in the heptathlon, freshman Caitlin Lennon led the Lumberjacks with a third place finish with 4504 points. Freshman Sammi Jo Brashears finished fourth, sophomore Jillian Turner finished seventh, and sophomore Kori Westmoreland was ninth.
Mon, 13 Mar 2017 12:07:00 EDTThe Stephen F. Austin Track and Field multi-event athletes will kick off the outdoor season with a two-day event in Houston, Texas hosted by Rice University. This will be the fourth time SFA has sent athletes to Houston for this event. Last year, Hunter Kay racked up 6,554 points in the men's decathlon to place fifth for the Lumberjacks, while Jillian Turner (4, 542 points) and former Lumberjack Laniya Taylor (4,416 points) finished seventh and eighth to the women's side.

The All-Conference teams for the 2017 season were also named, consisting of the top three finishers in the finals of each event.
Thu, 23 Feb 2017 20:42:00 EDTThe second day of the Southland Conference Indoor Track and Field Competition got underway early Thursday morning at the Birmingham Crossplex. By the end of the day, the Lumberjacks men's team totaled 117.50 points for the meet earning them a third place finish. The men had two gold medal titles from junior Isaiah Pittman in the long jump and from the men's 4x400m relay team. For the women's squad, freshman Imani Nave had the individual championship title in the 200m. The women totaled 93.50 points for the championship, which placed them fourth. All in all, SFA had 20 podium appearances in the 2017 Southland Conference Indoor Championships

Tue, 21 Feb 2017 12:01:00 EDTThe Stephen F. Austin Track and Field team will wrap up their indoor schedule with a two-day meet in Birmingham, Ala. for the Southland Conference Indoor Championships. This will be the third consecutive championship held with the Birmingham, Crossplex. The facility is one of only six 200-meter hydraulically banked tracks designed by Mondo in the United States and one of eight in the world. The facility opened in 2011 and has hosted more than 100 events and continues to grow each year.

At this meet, SFA’s third indoor of the season, the Lumberjacks set six new personal records and junior Taylor Anderson claimed SFA’s lone individual title in the 3000m race.

The Dunamis Sports Club will be hosting their first Indoor Track College Classic on Feb. 9 and 10 in the Dallas Cowboys’ indoor practice arena. The event will feature 25 collegiate teams including schools from Conference USA, the Big 12, Sunbelt Conference, as well as SFA’s Southland Conference. It is estimated that over 3,000 athletes will participate in what is being considered the largest indoor track meet ever to take place in Texas.

Austin on Friday night in Colorado when the temperatures dropped in the lower 30s, but the Lumberjacks were running red hot on the field as they claimed seven individual titles and broke 13 personal records. SFA was invited up to compete in the Air Force Team Challenge on Friday, February 3, 2017.

SFA is one of four teams that will be taking part of the sixth-annual Air Force Challenge. The others are Long Beach State, Grand Canyon, and USAF Academy. The meet is slated to take place in the Cadet Field House with the field events starting at 4:00 p.m., while the running events get underway at 5:00 p.m.
Sat, 28 Jan 2017 22:16:00 EDTStephen F. Austin men’s and women’s teams traveled to Houston this weekend for the Houston Invitational and Multis competition, hosted by the University of Houston. Things got started on Friday afternoon, Jan. 27, with the women’s throw beginning at 10:00 a.m. Junior Kami Stockett led the Lumberjacks in the throwers ring with a new personal best, 15.11m (49-07.00) weight throw that landed her in 11th place. Her teammate sophomore Tierra Wilson also broke her personal record of 15.06m (49-05.00) that put her right behind Stockett at 12th. The other field events finished later that afternoon. For the men, sophomore Isaiah Pittman finished 5th in the long jump invitational event with a distance of 7.22m (23-08.25). In the weight throw, senior Lucas Akins threw a 17.77m (58-03.75) which landed him in sixth. Junior Ben Bibby, freshman Trenton Bridges, and David Castillo took a group effort and finished close at 11th, 12th, and 13th respectively.
