W. Soccer. Doyle, Dunnigan, and Ehlert Receive All-Academic Honors

Three Stephen F. Austin seniors were selected among the ranks of 19 other individuals for the 2016 Southland Conference All-Academic teams. SFA was among Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, and Northwestern State who had three players each selected to this year’s All-Academic teams. Senior Amanda Doyle and senior Brooke Dunnigan were named first team honorees, while senior Lillie Ehlert received second team honors, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon.

The Ladyjacks put a four game win streak on the line going out to Ruston, La. on Wednesday afternoon. SFA faced off against the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters, and in the final seconds redeemed SFA’s first win in the Thomas Assembly Center since 1990. SFA had three Ladyjacks in the double digit points. Senior Taylor Ross led the charge with her second 20 point game of the season. Sophomore Chanell Hayes and senior Brentney Branch were both on fire beyond the arch with 13 points and 11 points, respectively. Sophomore Kia Fisker played her biggest game all season, racking up four points and four rebounds off the board. Redshirt junior Stevi Parker had six rebounds on the afternoon, an even three on both sides of the floor. Stephen F. Austin had five players with four or more rebounds, but could not crack Louisiana Tech from outrebounding them, 40-32. Both teams had nine steals each.



M. Basketball. 'Jacks Put Nation's Third-Longest Home Win Streak on the Line Wednesday vs. UAB

• In its first meeting with a program from the state of Alabama since 2013, the Stephen F. Austin men’s basketball team (3-3) aims to protect its 31-game home court win streak against visiting UAB (4-4) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday night inside William R. Johnson Coliseum. A win for either team in a battle of first-year head coaches would give the victor a record of above .500. All of the action will be broadcast natiowide on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app with Rob Meyers and Tyler DePascal providing play-by-play and analysis. W. Basketball. SFA Travels to Ruston for a Big Match Up Against Louisiana Tech

– The Ladyajcks are now on a four game win streak after taking down UTA in Arlington last Sunday. Senior Taylor Ross once again led the Ladyjacks to a win against the Mavericks. The senior guard scored a season high 26 points and five assists on the afternoon. Her performance this past game week earned her the honors as the Southland Conference Player of the Week and the College Sport Madness Player of the Week.

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks matched up against the UTA Mavericks on Saturday afternoon. Senior Taylor Ross led the SFA Ladyjacks with a season high 26 points against the Mavericks. She would be the only SFA player in the double digits. She had a terrific game as she grabbed four rebounds and three steals on the afternoon. Senior Brentney Branch followed next with eight points, to of those from beyond the arch. Sophomore Kennedy Harris was hot under the rim as she grabbed eight rebounds from the board. Senior Adrienne Lewis also had a great afternoon with six points and four rebounds. She went 3-4 in the field. As a team, SFA was out rebounded by UTA 39-38, thanks to UTA's six foot five center. SFA defense continued to hold strong creating 13 steals and forcing 24 turnovers. The Ladyjacks shot 35.3% in the field and 73.5% at the line. The game was a very high intensity game throughout the last three quarters as the two teams tied the score seven different times.

The Ladyjacks are coming off a terrific whole team effort on Wednesday, as every player contributed to the points column or rebounds. Several career records were broke that night, highlighted by a tremendous rebound effort from senior Danielle Rogers, who had nine on the night. Senior Taylor Ross had 14 points and a career high 10 assists against the LSUS Pilots. Freshman Riley Harvey had another breakout game this season with a season high 11 points and eight rebounds. Redshirt junior Stevi Parker led the Ladyjacks with a total of 16 points, seven rebounds, and two assists on the night. Five different Ladyjacks contributed double figure points to the 93-56 win over LSUS.



M. Basketball. SFA Falls Victim to Big Second-Half Run by Arkansas in 78-62 Setback

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Playing their second SEC opponent of the 2016-17 campaign, the Stephen F. Austin basketball team battled Arkansas tough through the first 20 minutes before the Razorbacks staggered the ‘Jacks with a 20-8 run to begin the second half. It was a blow from which SFA never fully recovered in a 78-62 loss to the Razorbacks inside Bud Walton Arena on Thursday night.
