This will be the third consecutive championship held with the Birmingham, Crossplex. The facility is one of only six 200-meter hydraulically banked tracks designed by Mondo in the United States and one of eight in the world. The facility opened in 2011 and has hosted more than 100 events and continues to grow each year.

Earlier in the tournament, A&M shut-out the Ladyjacks, 8-0, In five innings. The second match-up of these two teams started quite differently. Freshman Katie Clark led the game for SFA with two RBIs, one run, and going 3-4 on the day. Clark also helped in the field, going into right field in the fifth inning and grabbing two putouts. Senior Brittany Lewis had five putouts from first base and totaled one RBI, one run, and one hit from her four appearances

SFA had a whole team effort against the Lions, a feat that has not happened yet this season. All 13 players scored within the 40 minutes, and the SFA bench scored a season-high 54 points. The Ladyjacks were led in points by senior Taylor Ross, who had 19, but the story of the night was Freshman Lovisa Brunnberg who scored a career-high 18 points this afternoon. Brunnberg had a game-high five triples from seven attempts. She also went 6-9 from the field and went 1-2 at the free-throw line. Redshirt junior Stevi Parker was the third Ladyjack in double figures. She was one rebound shy of her eleventh career double-double. She posted 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds. As a team, the Ladyjacks outrebounded the Lions 46-29. The SFA defense forced 18 turnovers, and scored 29 points off those possessions. The Ladyjacks shot 50.8 percent from the field, their sixth game this season to be over 50 percent. They also shot 50.0 percent from beyond the arc and 72.0 percent at the charity stripe.

In the first game, sophomore Emily Wolfe led the Ladyjacks with two runs and two hits. Sophomore Karli Herron, junior Amber Landry, and senior Brittany Lewis also tagged one run each. Sophomore Lauren Becker, freshman Madison Clements, and Lewis were credited each with an RBI. Junior Callee Guffey tacked the win onto her record of 1-1 after pitching all seven innings and recording five strikeouts from the 26 batters faced. The SFA defense was a whole team effort spread across the field. Junior Taylor Fraccastoro had the team high five put-outs from behind the plate, and Lewis had four putouts on first.
