Track. Southland Indoor Championships Start Wednesday in Alabama

The Stephen F. Austin Track and Field team will wrap up their indoor schedule with a two-day meet in Birmingham, Ala. for the Southland Conference Indoor Championships. This will be the third consecutive championship held with the Birmingham, Crossplex. The facility is one of only six 200-meter hydraulically banked tracks designed by Mondo in the United States and one of eight in the world. The facility opened in 2011 and has hosted more than 100 events and continues to grow each year.



Baseball. 'Jacks Travel to College Station for Midweek Battle with No. 15 Texas A&M

LEADOFF HITS• In its only battle with SEC opposition in the 2017 regular season, the Stephen F. Austin baseball team heads to College Station, Texas, for a midweek meeting with No. 15-ranked Texas A&M. First pitch at Blue Bell Park has been set for 6:30 p.m. and the non-conference game will be televised on SEC Network+ and will also be carried on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app with the duo of Will Johnson and Mark Johnson on the call.



M. Golf. Sudinsky's 71 Leads Strong Final Round for Lumberjacks in California

Stephen F. Austin finished its trip to California on a strong note, registering a 5-over 293 over the final round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. The final round effort gave the Lumberjacks a 32-over 896 for the event, placing 17th among a challenging 22-team field.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin baseball team had its two-game winning streak to start the 2017 season snapped as the 'Jacks dropped decisions to Southeast Missouri State and UT Arlington on Sunday at Jaycees Field. With the losses, SFA falls to 2-2 in 2017.

Stephen F. Austin wrapped up a long weekend in College Station, Texas with a game against No. 17 Texas A&M. Earlier in the tournament, A&M shut-out the Ladyjacks, 8-0, In five innings. The second match-up of these two teams started quite differently. Freshman Katie Clark led the game for SFA with two RBIs, one run, and going 3-4 on the day. Clark also helped in the field, going into right field in the fifth inning and grabbing two putouts. Senior Brittany Lewis had five putouts from first base and totaled one RBI, one run, and one hit from her four appearances



M. Golf. 74 Fourspot Keeps Lumberjacks Tied For 18th in California

74 was the number of the day for Stephen F. Austin as four of the Lumberjacks’ five golfers carded the 2-over score as SFA sits tied for 18th among the team standings at the 2017 Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. The ‘Jacks posted an 8-over 296 in round two, 11 shots better than their opening round total, and are 27-over 603 after 36 holes.



W. Tennis. Ladyjacks Fall 6-1 at UTSA

Junior Amber Landry bombed one over the fence in the fifth inning of the Saturday morning game against New Mexico. Her homer came after two hits from Senior Brittany Lewis and sophomore Lauren Becker that put Stephen F. Austin runners on the corners. All three earned runs at the waiting crowd at home plate to seal the SFA win over New Mexico 3-1



W. Basketball. Ladyjack Whole Team Effort Takes Down the Lions, 92-62

Stephen F. Austin faced Southeastern Louisiana at the University Center on Saturday afternoon. SFA had a whole team effort against the Lions, a feat that has not happened yet this season. All 13 players scored within the 40 minutes, and the SFA bench scored a season-high 54 points. The Ladyjacks were led in points by senior Taylor Ross, who had 19, but the story of the night was Freshman Lovisa Brunnberg who scored a career-high 18 points this afternoon. Brunnberg had a game-high five triples from seven attempts. She also went 6-9 from the field and went 1-2 at the free-throw line. Redshirt junior Stevi Parker was the third Ladyjack in double figures. She was one rebound shy of her eleventh career double-double. She posted 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds. As a team, the Ladyjacks outrebounded the Lions 46-29. The SFA defense forced 18 turnovers, and scored 29 points off those possessions. The Ladyjacks shot 50.8 percent from the field, their sixth game this season to be over 50 percent. They also shot 50.0 percent from beyond the arc and 72.0 percent at the charity stripe.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Much of the offseason chatter regarding the Stephen F. Austin baseball team centered around the change in identity the `Jacks were trying to make from 2016 to 2017. Instead of a power hitting ball club, the current edition of SFA would be centered around pitching and feature a lineup that would not have as much pop.



Softball. Ladyjacks Split Day One of Texas A&M Invitational

Stephen F. Austin won their first game of the 2017 season against New Mexico in a 5-1 bout on Friday morning in College Station. In the first game, sophomore Emily Wolfe led the Ladyjacks with two runs and two hits. Sophomore Karli Herron, junior Amber Landry, and senior Brittany Lewis also tagged one run each. Sophomore Lauren Becker, freshman Madison Clements, and Lewis were credited each with an RBI. Junior Callee Guffey tacked the win onto her record of 1-1 after pitching all seven innings and recording five strikeouts from the 26 batters faced. The SFA defense was a whole team effort spread across the field. Junior Taylor Fraccastoro had the team high five put-outs from behind the plate, and Lewis had four putouts on first.
