SAN ANTONIO - In a game that featured 13 ties and 15 lead changes, the team that had the ball last was - in all likelihood - going to win the day.Although the ‘Jacks had the ball last, a win was, unfortunately, not in the cards.Dallas Cameron silenced a raucous crowd by drilling a pair of go-ahead free throws with 28 seconds left, but Incarnate Word’s Shawn Johnson brought the Cardinals’ congregation back to life after drilling a corner three that proved to be the dagger in SFA’s 70-68 Saturday night setback



W. Basketball. Career High from Branch Keeps the Drive Alive with 94-75 Win Over UIW

Stephen F. Austin played their seventeenth game of the season against the University of Incarnate Word at the McDermott Center on Saturday evening. The Ladyjacks had a terrific offense attack led by three players earning double-doubles, and senior Brentney Branch eclipsed her career high points in a game. Branch had 29 points, twelve of those from beyond the arch. She was 13-19 in the field and 3-7 for three-pointers. Senior Taylor Ross had her third season double-double with 14 points and 10 assists. Redshirt junior Stevi Parker took her season fifth double-double honor with 10 points and led the Ladyjacks in rebounds with 14 boards. Freshman Riley Harvey had a tremendous game pulling down 11 rebounds and posting 13 points, her first collegiate double-double. Within the first half, the Ladyjacks as a team posted a season high 53 points within the first half. The last record high was 50 points in the first half against Prairie View A&M. SFA outrebounded the Cardinals 46-33 and kept UIW to a 39.4 shooting percentage from the field. The Ladyjacks had their fifth game this season were they shot over 50 percent from the field. They went 54.9 percent from the field and 80 percent at the charity stripe.



W. Tennis. Ladyjacks Come Up Short in 5-2 Loss at No. 21 Texas A&M

Stephen F. Austin received a program first this week when College Insider announced that the Ladyjacks made it to the Top 25 Mid-Major list this past Tuesday. With 76 points in the poll this week, SFA has moved into the No. 25 spot and ranks with other schools like Jacksonville, Northern Illinois, and Harvard. The honor is the first for the program since the creation of the Mid-Major poll in 2010.

Austin junior guard Ivan Canete may be referred to by a different name - Ivan the Terrible - around the campus of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.The junior from Lake Worth, Fla., preserved a late one-point Stephen F. Austin lead by notching his career-high sixth steal with 20 seconds left, converting the ensuing fast-break layup and hitting a pair of huge free throws all in the last 20 seconds to lift the ‘Jacks to a 61-58 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at the American Bank Center.



Track. Hunter Key Grabs First in Samford Heptathlon/Pentathlon

The SFA men’s and women’s multi-teams traveled over to Birmingham, Ala. on Wednesday and Thursday for the Samford Heptathlon and Pentathlon meet. This was Stephen F. Austin's third time to compete at the Crossplex. Last year, then redshirt sophomore Hunter Key took second place for the heptathlon, and then junior Madeline Kaufmann took third.

Austin men's basketball team embarks on a southbound journey to Corpus Christi, Texas, to try and obtain its first road win of the 2016-17 campaign when it faces off against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 7:00 p.m. from the American Bank Center. ROOT Sports Southwest will televise the Southland Conference tilt nationally and the game will also be streamed on the Southland Conference YouTube channel.
