Softball Splits at Quinnipiac

Siena Softball traveled to Hamden, Connecticut on Sunday to battle conference opponent Quinnipiac. The Saints defeated the Bobcats 10-6 in game one of the doubleheader before dropping the second game 2-1. Senior Chelsey Drew totaled four hits on the day. Head coach Bill Lajeunesse picked up his 150th win for the Saints in the game one victory.

Softball Splits at League Front Runner Manhattan

Siena Softball battled first place Manhattan on Saturday in Riverdale, New York. The Saints took game one 5-3 over the Jaspers. In game two, Manhattan held on to a 3-2 victory over Siena to retake first place in the MAAC Softball standings. Sophomore Madysen Cossack was three-for-five on the day with 2 RBIs for Siena and senior Chelsey Drew added three RBIs in the series.

Wednesday’s Softball Doubleheader Postponed

The Siena Softball doubleheader against Syracuse scheduled for Wednesday, April 19th at 3 p.m. has been postponed due to impending weather. A potential makeup date has yet to be determined. The Saints will travel to Riverdale, New York on Saturday, April 22 to battle Manhattan at noon and 2 p.m.

Cossack Tabbed MAAC Softball Player of the Week

Siena Softball’s Madysen Cossack was tabbed the MAAC Player of Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday. It is the first weekly award of the season for Cossack and second award of her career.

Softball Blanks Canisius in Game Two to Split Doubleheader

Siena Softball hosted MAAC foe Canisius on Saturday at Siena Field. The Saints dropped a tight first game 4-3 in eight innings, but responded with a 6-0 shutout in game two to improve to 7-3 in MAAC play. Jess Vollmer recorded five hits in the doubleheader for Siena and freshman Maddie McMahon pitched her first collegiate shutout in the win.

Sabihon Leads Softball to Split with Iona

Siena Softball split a conference doubleheader on Friday afternoon with the visiting Iona Gaels. The two teams entered tied for second place in the MAAC with identical 5-1 records. The Saints picked up a walk-off win 5-3 in nine innings in game one before falling 8-0 in five innings in the final game. Freshman Lauren Sabihon was the game one hero as her two run home run lifted the Saints to victory in extra innings.

Softball Splits at Cornell

Siena Softball went 1-1 in a doubleheader Thursday afternoon in Ithaca, New York. The Saints fell to Cornell 12-3 in six innings in game one, but came back in game two for a 6-4 victory. Madysen Cossack registered five hits in the series, along with four RBIs, including two home runs.

Game Two Walk-off Gives Softball Split with CCSU

Siena Softball hosted an afternoon doubleheader against the CCSU Blue Devils on Tuesday. After falling 6-1 in the opening game, the Saints responded with a walk-off, come from behind, 2-1 victory to close the day. Brooke Taylor delivered the game-winning single in game two to give Siena the series split.

Hess Tabbed MAAC Player of the Week

Paige Hess was named MAAC Player of the Week after the Saints went 2-0 in conference play. This is both Hess’s and Siena Softball’s first weekly award of the season.

Softball Sweeps the Stags

Siena Softball hosted its first two games at Siena Field on Sunday. The Saints took down the visiting Fairfield Stags 10-2 in five innings in game one before completing the Sunday Sweep with an 11-3 win in game two. Paige Hess and Loryn DeFalco each recorded 5 RBIs on the day to lead the team on a strong offensive day for the Saints.

Softball Home Opener Set for Sunday (12/2 PM)

After 25 road or neutral site contests to open the 2017 campaign, Siena Softball will host its first two home games on Sunday. The Saints will battle MAAC foe Fairfield in a doubleheader, beginning at 12 p.m.

Saturday’s Softball Doubleheader Postponed

The Siena Softball home opener scheduled for Saturday, April 8th has been postponed due to field conditions. The Saints will now face Iona on Friday, April 14th at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Siena will take on Fairfield in its home opener on Sunday, April 9th at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. as scheduled.

Softball Powers its Way to Sweep at Saint Peter’s

Siena Softball continued MAAC play on Monday in Jersey City, New Jersey. The Saints battled Saint Peter’s in an afternoon doubleheader. Siena shut out the Peacocks 8-0 in five innings to pick up the game one victory. In game two, the Saints completed the sweep with a 6-3 win in game two to improve to 3-1 in conference play this season.

Softball Splits MAAC Opening Series in Poughkeepsie

Siena Softball opened 2017 MAAC conference play on Sunday in Poughkeepsie, New York against the Marist Red Foxes. The Saints defeated preseason favorite and defending champion Marist 3-1 in the first game before being blanked 10-0 in five innings in game two. Junior pitcher Lauren Butts recorded a two-hit complete game for the win in game one. Jess Vollmer had two hits for Siena.
