Wednesday’s Baseball Game Moved to Fairleigh Dickinson

The Siena Baseball team will have to wait a little while longer before playing its first home game of 2017. Wednesday’s de facto home opener against Fairleigh Dickinson has been moved to Teaneck, New Jersey, and will now be hosted by the Knights at 3 p.m.

Baseball Caps Undefeated Weekend

Siena Baseball completed an unconventional undefeated weekend on Long Island, recording a win and a tie in their series-ending doubleheader at NYIT. Freshman hurler Brendan White pitched the Saints to a 6-0 shutout in the opener, while Siena scored three times in the final inning to forge a 5-5 draw in the nightcap which was halted due to darkness.

Freshmen Propel Saints Past NYIT in Extras

Freshman Alex Brickman led off the 10th inning with the go-ahead home run, and classmates Zach Durfee and Rich Gilbride followed with run-scoring singles to lead Siena Baseball past NYIT 5-3 in extra innings in the series opener in Old Westbury, New York. Sophomore hurlers Tommy Miller and Dylan D’Anna combined to record a staff season-high 13 strikeouts.

Baseball Announces Changes to Upcoming Schedule

Due to field conditions, Siena Baseball has announced several alterations to the team’s upcoming home schedule. The Saints will no longer host NYIT as originally scheduled on Sunday, and the Mar. 28 home matchup vs. Army West Point has been pushed back to Apr. 12.

Klein Hits, Pitches Ohio Past Saints in Rubber Game

Michael Klein struck out eight over 5.2 innings to earn the win on the mound, and reached base safely four times at the plate to lead Ohio over Siena Baseball 6-4 in the decisive rubber game of the series in Athens, Ohio. Klein went 2-for-3 out of the cleanup spot in the Bobcats’ order with a pair of walks, an RBI and a stolen base.

Saints Split Doubleheader at Ohio

Siena Baseball split its series opening doubleheader Saturday at Ohio. The Saints won the opener 4-2, while the Bobcats took the nightcap 7-4 at Bob Wren Stadium in Athens, Ohio. Sophomore infielder Brian Kelly reached base safely six times on the day, while junior second baseman Jordan Bishop recorded four hits and reached base five times.

Saints Slug Their Way to Doubleheader Split

Siena Baseball combined for 16 runs and 27 hits to earn a series-opening doubleheader split at Davidson. The Wildcats won an 11-8 slugfest in the opener, while the Saints scored seven unanswered runs to take the nightcap 8-4.

Madonna Named to Johnny Bench Award Watch List

Siena Baseball junior captain Phil Madonna is amongst 85 national candidates who have been named to the 2017 Johnny Bench Award Watch List. The award is presented annually to the top Division I catcher.

Spring All Access Schedule Announced

Offense Blasts Baseball to First Series Win of Season

Siena Baseball notched its first series win of 2017 with a 9-8 victory Sunday over the Racers. After splitting the Saturday doubleheader, the two teams combined for 17 runs in game three with the Saints plating three in the eighth to win the game and series. Joe Drpich had the game-winning home run and Phil Madonna added 2 RBIs in the game for the Saints.

Baseball Splits First Two Games at Murray State

Siena Baseball opened up a three-game set in Murray, KY on Saturday with two games against the Murray State Racers. The Saints picked up their first victory of the season in game one, besting the Racers 8-3. In game two, Murray State recorded an 11-3 victory to tie the series at one game each.

Pittsburgh Sweeps Doubleheader, Series From Saints

Pittsburgh captured both games of an afternoon twin bill to complete the three-game series sweep of Siena Baseball at historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach, Florida. Pitt edged the Saints in the opener 6-4, and took the nightcap 11-5.

Six-Run Seventh Propels Pitt Past Saints

Pittsburgh scored eight unanswered runs highlighted by a tie-breaking, six-run seventh to take the series opener from Siena Baseball 8-2 at historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach, Florida. Freshman shortstop Rich Gilbride recorded his first collegiate multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with a run scored in the loss.

Hatters Top Siena Baseball

Stetson Shuts Out Saints

Andrew MacNeil drove in four runs, Jacob Koos added three hits, and Chris Tidwell scored three times as balanced Stetson shut out Siena Baseball 9-0 in the series opener in DeLand, Florida. Senior centerfielder Dan Swain recorded three of the Saints’ six hits.
