Rowing Medals in Two at AAC Championship, Earns Three Spots on All-League Team

The San Diego State rowing capped its season Saturday morning at the American Athletic Conference Championship at Nathan Benderson Park where the team took home two medals and finished fourth in the conference. Junior Isabelle Paul earned a spot on the first team all-conference, while junior Sara Avery and freshman Bianca van Dyk received second team honors.

Rowing claims four spots on all-WIRA teams

Following San Diego State rowing’s excellent finish at the Western intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on April 30 in Gold River, Calif., four Aztecs were named to the all-WIRA team. Sara Avery and Brynn Danvers both made the women’s first team, while Brooke Hepner and Laura Keane landed on the women’s second team.



Rowing's second varsity eight named AAC Boat of the Week

The San Diego State second varsity eight earned the American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week honor, the conference office announced Tuesday. This is the first weekly award for the 2V8 and just the second conference honor for the SDSU rowing team. The second eight had a stellar weekend in Gold River, Calif., where it won its two races at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on Lake Natoma.

The San Diego State rowing team finished off the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on Lake Natoma with a win in the second varsity eight final, second place finishes in the varsity eight and varsity four finals, and a fourth-place finish in the novice eight final.

The San Diego State rowing team is set to race in the 44th annual San Diego Crew Classic this weekend at Crown Point Shores on Mission Bay. The Aztecs will enter four boats on Saturday, April 1, and one on Sunday, April 2. Races are set to begin around 7:30 a.m. each day.

The San Diego State rowing team ended its final day at the Hornet Invitational on Sunday where they claimed two victories and a third place finish on Lake Natoma. The Aztecs showed their depth on Sunday, finishing in first place in both the second varsity eight and the varsity four races ahead of Loyola Marymount and Drexel University, but ended the varsity eight in third behind their two opponents.

The San Diego State rowing team traveled to Lake Natoma on Saturday where it finished first in six of seven races, with wins over American Athletic Conference foe Sacramento State and Saint Mary's. The Aztecs raced eight boats in seven scheduled events today, first in morning races against the Hornets and versus the Gaels in the afternoon.
