MANCHESTER, CONN. – Providence College Director of Cross Country/Track Ray Treacy and John Treacy ’78 will serve as the Honorary Chairmen for the historic Manchester Road Race on Thanksgiving (Nov. 22). The brothers are being honored for both their Manchester Road Race accomplishments and their lasting impact on the race.

LOUISVILLE, KY. – The Providence College women’s cross country team raced at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Ky. on Saturday, Nov. 18. It was the 28th time in the last 29 years that Providence has competed at the NCAA Championships. The Friars finished 16th out of 31 teams.

NEW ORLEANS, LA. - The USTFCCCA released the Regional Coaches and Athletes of the Year Awards on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Providence College’s Director of Cross Country/Track and Field Ray Treacy was awarded the Northeast Region Women’s Coach of the Year award for the second consecutive year. This season, Coach Treacy guided the women’s team to their third consecutive Northeast Regional Team Title and the fifth in the past six years.



Providence Women’s Cross Country Ranked Ninth In Final National Poll Of The Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The USTFCCCA released the final national rankings of the cross country season on Monday, Nov. 13. This final poll saw the Friars ranked ninth in the nation. This move came on the heels of the Friars’ third consecutive Northeast Regional title. Providence won the Northeast region with 84 points and had four athletes earn All-Northeast region honors.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Providence College women’s cross country team won the NCAA Northeast Region title on Friday, Nov. 10. The title is the women’s third straight and their fifth title in the past six years. The women earned an automatic qualification for the NCAA Cross Country Championships by winning the region. The men finished 12th as team.

The women finished second as a team behind graduate student Catarina Rocha's individual title. In the men's race, the Providence finished fourth as a team.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled out to Kenosha, Wis. for the BIG EAST Championships on Friday, Oct. 27. The races will take place at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course on Saturday, Oct. 28. The men’s 8,000-meter race will be the first race of the day at 11:00 a.m. CT. The women’s 6,000-meter race will then follow at 11:50 a.m. CT.

NEW BRITAIN, CONN. – The Providence College men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the CCSU Mini Meet on Friday, Oct. 20. At CSSU, the men compete in a 5,000-meter race while the women compete in a 3,000-meter race. The Friars annually use the Mini Meet as a way of finalizing the roster for the BIG EAST Championships.

MADISON, WIS. – The Providence College cross country teams travel to Madison, Wis. for the eighth annual Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Oct. 12. Both the men’s and women’s teams will face multiple ranked teams in a deep field matched only by the NCAA Cross Country Championships. The races will take place on Friday, Oct. 13 with the men’s open race taking place at 12:40 p.m. ET, followed by the women’s Championship race at 1:20 p.m. ET and the men’s Championship race at 2:00 p.m. ET.

Graduate student Catarina Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) and senior Aaron Hanlon (Drogheda, Ireland) were both named BIG EAST Athletes of the Week for their performances at the Battle-In-Beantown on Friday, Sept. 22.
