Men’s and Women’s Track Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The USTFCCCA announced its 2016 All-Academic Teams and individual honors on Thursday, July 28. The Providence College men’s track team, which has a 3.27 GPA, was among a total of 120 institutions that earned the honor, while the women’s team, which has a 3.37 GPA, was among a total of 220 institutions that earned the honor.



Former Friar Julian Matthews To Compete For New Zealand In The 1,500 in the Olympic Games

Former Providence College track and cross country standout Julian Matthews ’13 will compete in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics. Matthews (Nelson, New Zealand) will run the 1,500 meters for New Zealand.



Sarah Collins And Julian Oakley Earn BIG EAST Sports Excellence Awards

Providence College women’s cross country stand-out Sarah Collins (Basel, Switzerland) and men’s indoor track star Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand) have each been announced as winners of the 2015-16 BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete Sports Excellence Awards for their respective sports. The league announced the award winners today [July 11], which honors academic and athletic achievement as well as community service.
