Men's Basketball Picked Fourth In BIG EAST Preseason Coaches’ Poll

It was announced on October 18 that the Providence College men’s basketball team was picked to finish fourth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Friars, who finished tied for third in league standings in 2017 with a 10-8 mark, received 59 points in the poll. Villanova was selected by the coaches to finish first with eight first place votes and 80 points.

Kyron Cartwright And Rodney Bullock Earn Preseason All-BIG EAST Honors

It was announced on October 18 that Providence College seniors Kyron Cartwright (Compton, Calif.) and Rodney Bullock (Hampton, Va.) were named to the 2017-18 Preseason All-BIG EAST Second Team. Cartwright and Bullock earned 2017 All-BIG EAST Second Team honors in 2017.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- It was announced today (Oct. 17) that the NCAA has granted a waiver for the Providence College men's basketball team to play the University of Connecticut in an exhibition game at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to benefit hurricane victims.

Kyron Cartwright Named One Of 20 Candidates For Bob Cousy Award

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was announced on October 16 by the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame, that Providence senior guard Kyron Cartwright was selected as one of 20 finalists for the Bob Cousy Award. Cartwright and Jalen Brunson (Villanova) are the only two BIG EAST players on the list. Cartwright is looking to become the first Friar ever to receive the Bob Cousy Award.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's basketball team's 2017-18 BIG EAST schedule was announced today (Sept. 12). The Friars will play an 18-game league schedule with Providence playing each of the other nine conference teams once at home and once on the road. The Friars will open their 2017-18 league schedule at St. John's (Carnesecca Arena) on Thursday, December 28 at 7:00 p.m. on Fox Sports Network.
