Hawks face tall order in Orlando against 6-1 Central Florida

When the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (1-8) takes on Central Florida (6-1) Saturday (Nov. 10) at 5 p.m., the Hawks will be facing their biggest challenge of the season -- literally.At and 7-foot-6 and 290-pounds, sophomore center Tacko Fall is the largest player in Division I basketball. The Senegalese national is third on the team with 13.9 points per game and leads the club with 12.9 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per contest. He ranks second in the country in rebounding and in the top 20 in blocks. Fall's best game this year came last month against Mississippi State as he netted 20 points and pulled down 13 boards in an 86-61 Knight win.

Hawks fall at Virginia Tech despite Andino performance

The first half of Wednesday night's game at Virginia Tech couldn't have gone much worse for University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Trailing 38-16 at the break and shooting 29 percent from the field, something clearly needed to change in the second half.But a second-half surge -- including 17 second-half points from junior Ryan Andino (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) -- and outscored the Hokies in the second half 43-37 on the way to a 75-59 loss.

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore finally got in the win column during a brief stop at the William P. Hytche Center and then hit to the road again.Wednesday’s (Dec. 7) opponent is Virginia Tech as the Hawks (1-7) tangle with the Hokies (6-1) at 8:30 p.m., at Cassell Coliseum. It is the first of six straight road games to close out 2016.

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore hadn't picked up a victory since March 3, 2016 at Morgan State.So, the Hawks (1-7) were ready to take one however they could get it on Monday at home against Central Penn (8-4). The final result was an 87-74 win where the two teams combined for 46 turnovers and missed 20 free throws.
