SAC Relays featured the 5,000 meters with the trio of freshman Hannah Wohlenberg, junior Madelyn Vorgitch, and sophomore Kyla Danforth in the spotlight. As has been the case a majority of the season, Wohlenberg ran another career best of 17:04.34, improving by three seconds on her previous mark. Although her time is still eleventh (11th) on the LMU top-20 all-time list, she inched her way closer to tenth, a mere six hundredths of a second away from Alyssa Bellia.
Fri, 14 Apr 2017 13:02:00 EDTThree Lions debuted in the 10,000 meters last night at the 59th Annual Mt. SAC Relays. To start the night, sophomore Koby Pederson ran an even-paced and very strong 30:43.05. His time is now sixth on the LMU all-time list. Pederson is now the only Lion in LMU history to be on the top-20 all-time list for all of the outdoor NCAA Championship-contested distance and middle distance events showing his versatility. He is fifth in the 800 meters, third in the 1,500 meters, 16th in the 5,000 meters, third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, and now sixth in the 10,000 meters.

The Lion Men and Women had a total of ten personal best times, and eight of those ten came from those who ran the 3000m. The Lion runners who achieved personal best times improved their time by an average of nine seconds. In the five events contested, four of the five events saw Lion runners place in the top three.
Sun, 19 Mar 2017 12:00:00 EDTThe Lions took a small group of seven runners to the UC Irvine Spring Break Collegiate Classic on Saturday. The highlight of the day was Sophomore Koby Pederson in heat one of the 1500m. Pederson ran 3:52.20, which is an 11 second personal best. He went out in the middle of the pack, and slowly moved up to the fourth position going into the last lap. Down the final stretch, he was able to hold off two Army runners finishing in fourth overall. Pederson's result puts him third all-time on the LMU 1500m list behind Weston Strum (3:42.67) and Daniel LaCava (3:50.94). Also, his time currently puts him in the top 30 in the nation.

Shanahan ran her 5,000m first-place finish in 16:25.28. Polerecky won his 5k with a new PR, 14:21.26, more than 8.5 seconds off his previous time.

The men and women will be competing in two events, the 1,500m and the 5,000m race. LMU head coach Scott Guerrero, athletes Danielle Shanahan and Jack Polerecky spoke with the LMU sports network before the race.

This is a local, two-day meet in which all of the running events are hosted on Saturday, March 4 at the Jesse Owens Track. This is one of the closer competitions so fans wouldn't have to travel too far to come and support the team! The Lions will only be competing in one event, the 1500 meters which goes off at 11am. This race is a final tune-up leading up to the "official coming out party" at the Oxy Invite on March 10 where all athletes will be in their "specialty" events.
Fri, 17 Feb 2017 14:55:00 EDTThe LMU men's and women's track & field teams will open their season on Sunday at the West Coast Invitational and West Coast Challenge to be held at Miramonte High School on Orinda, CA. The Lions will face off in an 'old fashioned' double-dual scoring meet against conference foes USF, Santa Clara and host Saint Mary's. The doubleheader will be the only opportunity this this season to compete in a traditional team competition against conference rivals.
