Pederson Leads Lions with Standout Performance

Sun, 19 Mar 2017 12:00:00 EDT

The Lions took a small group of seven runners to the UC Irvine Spring Break Collegiate Classic on Saturday. The highlight of the day was Sophomore Koby Pederson in heat one of the 1500m. Pederson ran 3:52.20, which is an 11 second personal best. He went out in the middle of the pack, and slowly moved up to the fourth position going into the last lap. Down the final stretch, he was able to hold off two Army runners finishing in fourth overall. Pederson's result puts him third all-time on the LMU 1500m list behind Weston Strum (3:42.67) and Daniel LaCava (3:50.94). Also, his time currently puts him in the top 30 in the nation.

Track Heads to Cal State LA For Second Meet

Fri, 03 Mar 2017 10:39:00 EDT

The Lions are back in action this week at the Cal State L.A. Invitational. This is a local, two-day meet in which all of the running events are hosted on Saturday, March 4 at the Jesse Owens Track. This is one of the closer competitions so fans wouldn't have to travel too far to come and support the team! The Lions will only be competing in one event, the 1500 meters which goes off at 11am. This race is a final tune-up leading up to the "official coming out party" at the Oxy Invite on March 10 where all athletes will be in their "specialty" events.
