Athletics Director William Husak Announces July Retirement

LMU Athletics Director Bill Husak released a letter on Wednesday announcing that he plans to retire in July. Husak has served as Athletics Director for the last 20 years, guiding LMU to some of its greatest successes. He plans to retire on July 27, 2018.

Lions Finish Sixth at PCSC Championships

Finishing competition at the 2018 PCSC Championships on Saturday in La Mirada, Calif., LMU swimming placed sixth overall in the women's competition that was contested at Splash! Regional Aquatics Center.

Eleven LMU swimmers reached evening finals on Thursday night, as LMU put three in the 500 freestyle and eight in the 50 freestyle events. After two days at Splash! Regional Aquatics Center in La Mirada, LMU sits sixth with 241 points. UC San Diego leads the pack at 603 points, followed by Fresno Pacific University (493) and Cal State East Bay (403.5).

With the first day of the PCSC Championship Meet in the books, LMU sits sixth overall in the team standings with 125 points. UC San Diego leads the pack with 282 points, followed by Azusa Pacific at 243, and Fresno Pacific with 227.

The LMU swim team will be competing at La Mirada Splash! this week to wrap up their season with the PCSC Conference Championships. The meet will be a four-day long event consisting of two sessions each day, prelims and finals.

Abbott Nabs PCSC Athlete of the Week

Junior Marley Abbott took home Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Division I Athlete of the Week honor, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday. With the latest honor, LMU has now earned a selection five times this year.

The LMU swim team will travel to Claremont, Calif. for their final dual meet of the season against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Competition between the Lions and Athenas will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Lions Come Out On Top With A Double Victory

The Lions were able to defeat the Waves on the second day of the meet in both sessions one and two. The first session began with an exhilarating 200 Freestyle relay. Though LMU's A relay was ahead during the race, finishing with a time of 1:39.66, it was a tight race between both LMU and Pepperdine's B relays, with the Lions coming out ahead by a touch.

After the first day of the Lions Cup hosted at the Burns Aquatic Center, LMU comes out second in the DI scoring segment of the event, just behind Pepperdine. The Lions ended the day with a score of 109, to Pepperdine's 110 points.

Willis Earns Second PCSC Athlete of Week Nod

Junior Isabel Willis took home Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Division I Athlete of the Week honor, it was announced by the conference office on Thursday. Willis, who previously earned the honor on October 6, runs LMU's total to four selections this year.

Lions Host Dixie State, Pepperdine, and Alaska at Second Annual Lion's Cup

The LMU swim team is back in full swing, continuing the second part of their season this Friday and Saturday, welcoming Dixie State, Pepperdine, and the University of Alaska, Fairbanks to the Burn's Aquatic Center for the second annual Lion's Cup Invitational. The first session will take place on Friday at 1:30 PM. Session two will begin on Saturday at 9:30, with the final session beginning at noon that same day. Saturday will also include a celebration of the Lion seniors, Tori Yee and Maddie Lipkowitz, as other sports teams will be joining during the break to compete in a relay of their own.

Swimming against UC San Diego and CSU Bakersfield on Saturday afternoon from the Burns Aquatics Center, LMU swimming came up short in both decisions, falling to UCSD, 253-41, and CSU Bakersfield, 238-50.
