Lions Can’t Get Road Equalizer

It was another thriller in the rivalry between LMU and 14th-ranked UC San Diego in the Western Water Polo Association opener in La Jolla, Calif., on Wednesday night. It once again came down to the final shot, as Eric Reitmeir’s shot at the buzzer couldn’t connect at the Tritons pulled out the 11-10 win.

Road Rivalry Begins WWPA Play

LMU men’s water polo will begin play within the Western Water Polo Association on Wednesday when they make their annual trip to La Jolla, to take on WWPA rival UC San Diego at 6 pm. The Lions will then return home to face Fresno Pacific on Saturday at 12 noon as part of Alumni BBQ Weekend.

Fourth Quarter Difference in Top-10 Doubleheader

LMU hosted the first Conference Challenge Cup on Saturday, welcoming both No. 8 UC Irvine and No. 9 Pepperdine from the Golden Coast Conference in a doubleheader. The Lions found themselves following a similar script for a full house at the Burns Aquatics Center.

Big Saturday For Lions

Just 19.1 miles apart, LMU and Pepperdine have been battling one another for over a half century and it has grown to where 13 teams will face each other throughout the calendar year. And for the last decade, men's water polo has been the opening act in this long time rivalry.

Middle of the Game Surge Hurts Lions

LMU men's water polo made their first appearance at home on Friday, taking on sixth-ranked UC Santa Barbara at the Burns Aquatics Center. The Gauchos used a 5-1 run in the middle of the game to pull away from the 19th-ranked Lions, helping them to a 13-7 win.

A Split in the Right Direction

Developing In and Out of the Water

No Days Off

Teams will begin to arrive on campus in the coming weeks to begin training for the new 2016-17 season, which begins at LMU with women’s soccer arriving this week. However, campus was a busy place this summer, especially in the Lions Athletic Center. Eric Hernandez Earns Memorial Scholarship

LMU men's water polo redshirt junior Eric Hernandez has been awarded the Ben Carlson Memorial Scholarship, as announced at the 2nd annual Ben Carlson Scholarship dinner in June.
