Competing at an ITF Women's Circuit event in Kaltenkirchen, Germany, LMU incoming freshman Eva Marie Voracek has reached the semifinal round of play. The event is being held at the Tennisclub an der Schirnau e.V., and runs through Sunday.

The Loyola Marymount men’s basketball team has hired Derrick Clark as an assistant coach, adding further NCAA Tournament experience to a coaching staff already stacked with veterans of the Division II powerhouse Metropolitan State University of Denver Roadrunners.



W. Swimming. Swimming Claims CSCAA Scholar All-American Team Honors

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently announced its Scholar All-American Teams for spring 2017, and LMU Swimming ranked tied for 120th on the list amongst 173 Division I women's swimming and diving programs with a team GPA of 3.36.

Following one season at UC Santa Barbara, Megan Rice has elected to transfer to LMU for her sophomore campaign. Rice, a 5-11 native of Redondo Beach, Calif. was a third team AVCA All-American as a senior at Redondo Union High School.

Baseball. All-Region, More All-American Honors Emerge for Abbott

Junior right-hander Cory Abbott was showered with a few more awards on Wednesday and Thursday, claiming second team All-American honors according to D1Baseball and the ABCA, and a spot on the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region squad.

M. Water Polo. Lions Announce 2017 Schedule

LMU men’s water polo will host ten home games in the 2017 season, with the release of the upcoming fall schedule. The season will begin Sept. 2 UCSD Triton Invitational, LMU’s home opener will be Sept. 22 at during the So Cal Tournament.

Baseball. Simon, Caulfield Selected on Final Day of Draft

The third day of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft saw two more Lion players nabbed by professional organizations, as right-hander Harrison Simon and second baseman Phil Caulfield had their names called by the San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals, respectively.

Baseball. Abbott Garners Two More All-American Selections

Two days after being selected in the second round (67th overall) of the 2017 MLB Draft by the defending World Series Champion Chicago Cubs, junior right-hander Cory Abbott earned two more All-American selections, tabbed a first team Perfect Game/Rawlings All-American and a second team All-American according to the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association.

M. Basketball. Lions Add 6’8” Texas Native

The LMU coaching staff announced today that Mikail Simmons, an incoming freshman from Plano East High School in Plano, Texas, will don an LMU uniform next season. Simmons played both basketball and football in high school.

Baseball. Abbott Selected in Second Round by Cubs, Highest LMU Pick Since 2000

Junior right-hander Cory Abbott was selected in the second round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft on Monday, nabbed by the Chicago Cubs with the 67th overall pick. The second-round selection is the highest for LMU since 2000, when Billy Traber was taken in the first round by the New York Mets, followed by Michael Schultz in the second round by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

M. Soccer. Dotseth Named WCC Postgraduate Scholarship Winner

The 2017 West Coast Conference Postgraduate Scholarship award winners were recognized at the WCC Honors Dinner last week in Redondo Beach. Mark Dotseth was named the Male Postgraduate Scholarship winner, while University of Portland cross country student-athlete Anna Farello was named the Female Postgraduate Scholarship winner.
